As ever, the late great Bob was an absolute legend. Jenny got divorced and Jeremy became a Conservatve MP and is now Sir Jeremy. Unfortunately, Dinah passed away in 2012 at the age of 92. Ray passed away in 2010 at the age of 79.
He certainly was. I only found out about his death a good few years afterwards when i suggested that he could be the presenter for a new gameshow. Turns out he died in 2004 when i happened to be living in France lol
When Monkhouse's and Bygraves's eras of "Fah-mi-lee Foh-teunes!" started to be shown on Challenge, I've personally dubbed Jack Parnell & David Lindup's brass-and-fiddle-led theme tune as "The Devil Went Down to Nottingham"! Loved the idea of showing the end credits on Mr Babbage, though!
TelevisionVault Well, Monkhouse and the first Bygraves series were recorded at the ATV studios in Elstree. In fact, the first half of Bygraves' first series was the last production there before Central sold the studios to the BBC. The second half of the series was recorded at Central's new studio complex in Nottingham, where future series were also recorded.
10:10-10:20 Bob: Name one of the ingredients in chicken stuffing. Herby: chicken. Bob: Chicken? Eh? You stuff chicken with a chicken?? Audience: Hahahahahahahahaha! How funny! LOL!
How much better these days were, more prim and proper, not like nowadays, all slap dash eyewash crap. I remember watching this in 1983, good old programme on a friday night
The DVD of Alf Wiedersehen, Pet has the Central ident muted - it’s missing altogether from the VHS version! In fact, all the Bob Monkhouse editions were made by ATV - not Central - one edition actually saw both Central and ATV frontcaps broadcast in error!
This must have been one of the first celebrity edition of family fortunes recorded done for charity Now it's all celebrity?? Families on the Vernon Kay edition because it sells more viewers to watch It's all about ratings instead off getting joe public families on.This show need the average families back on as they need the money just as much as the charities
When Bob Monkhouse left Family Fortunes why the hell did they pick Max Bygraves as his replacement? He was totally and utterly useless, a trained chimp could have done better, they should have kept Bob Monkhouse.
He was, and still is, the best gameshow host British television ever produced, but here he was way too smarmy and - to use a word he himself used in his autobiography - obtundent.
Original and best host Bob Monkhouse. Loved watching Family Fortunes on Friday night
Bob made the greatest entrances to that natural applause from his worshipping audience...ever, from any quiz show host. He was the greatest.

I was 9yrs old ... watch this is like having a time machine
Bob was the gameshow master
He certainly was. I only found out about his death a good few years afterwards when i suggested that he could be the presenter for a new gameshow. Turns out he died in 2004 when i happened to be living in France lol
@@MrJayel27 Bob died in December 2003.
@@AllenJeremy Okay thanks Allen. I was also in the south of France then lol
I love family fortunes with Bob monkhouse and Max Bygraves
RIP-Bob Monkhouse
good old 1982 where you can use the word spastic and charity in the same sentence
A) You still can but perhaps more importantly B) What do you mean can? Are you Marty McFly or something?
@@MrJayel27 spastic, who came up with that word? It sounds derogatory.....
@@markperryman1797 Probably your Mum...
@@MrJayel27 My mum died on the 17th of January,.........
@@MrJayel27 twat.....
I saw bob live, stand up live, such a funny man, he didn't swear, he had me in stitches RIP you great man ♥️
Clearly, then, you didn't see him perform in _An Audience With Bob Monkhouse_ for LWT, in which he swore plenty.
"Name one of the ingredients in chicken stuffing."
"Chicken."
"Chicken, you stuff a chicken with a chicken?"
You mean you'd be stuffed,..... said Bob.
some chicken stuffings have chicken livers in them
Well if they didnt stuff each other thefe wouldnt be any more chickens
*UH-UHH!*
@@officialSgtPepperArc360 that's funny answer. Definitely got on misfortune's obviously
This is cool. I remember watching Family Feud with Richard Dawson back when I was little.

Classy Bob monkhouse sadly missed
One in a million was Bob. Sadly missed but fondly remembered
0:25 "And among tonight's hidden prizes are.." ..covered in beige. BEIGE as far as the eye can see!
11:44 Nice to know it wasn't just Max who did that!
John, the ATV series is largely missing presumed wiped. Bob's last series of FF is the earliest available in its entirety.
I'll keep saying it, Bob Monkouse was the ultimate shoman and possesed an almost encylopaedic mind which he used to entetain us...!
Bob Monkhouse did last longer on Family Fortunes he hosted the show from 1980 until 1983
Like the way the sound man has to keep reminding Bob there's a prize waiting to be read out.
My memory of this on a Friday night at 7. Followed Vega$ or The Amazing Spiderman from the early 80s.
That has to be the beige-est set in the history of game shows. And Bob in a tan suit as well. !
10:10-10:20
Bob: Name one of the ingredients in chicken stuffing.
Herby: chicken.
Bob: Chicken? Eh? You stuff chicken with a chicken??
Audience: Hahahahahahahahaha!
How funny! LOL!
Bob Johnson's response: "Turkey"
Class act Bob was
Jenny Handley was lovely.
And she still is. I chatted with her not long ago on fb.
The £2,338 graphic blinking three times ago.
Also, R.I.P. Bob Monkhouse.
Bob Monkhouse talks really fast!
It's too bad Bob Monkhouse didn't last longer. It seems like he did a good job with this show.
He had to leave the show because he'd gone from ITV to the BBC. The Beeb gave him his own chat show as well as a new game show - _Bob's Full House._
The Philips Videopac G7000 was the European version of the Magnavox Odyssey 2 :o)
Oh dear at 18:50 Bob does a Max Bygraves lol
Why was there no music over the central tv ident at the beginning??
12:04 I wonder if that was a deliberate prompt for 'Thyme'? But Ray had already thought of it.
As Jim Royle once said : "best showhost ever"
31st december 1983
How much better these days were, more prim and proper, not like nowadays, all slap dash eyewash crap. I remember watching this in 1983, good old programme on a friday night
I know it's the long shot but could you post the episode where Hayley Tamaddon plays against Aggie MacKenzie
0:02 I can’t hear the Central music
Ahh, 1983,..when two grand would buy you more than a couple of Freddos
Do you have Family forturnes series 4, episode 26 with the Sadler and Davidson family, I would really love to see this. Thanks
Ah yes, that was a corker. Wasn't that the one where the Sadlers were asked to name something blue?
I'm 50 who are they. Good old bob
2nd question in Big Money should of been 'Any character from Peter Pan besides Peter Pan'
Do you have anymore Family Fortunes? I'm a fan....just a little bit...
I mean longer than he did last.
Why was the central logo filmed
It used to be so easy
15:45 I'm going to spell jail as "GAOL" from now on. If anyone says I'm wrong, I'll just say "you're wrong, it's the Queen's English."
Probably the last time somebody said spastics on telly.
It's called "Family Feud" in the U.S.
What did you call Bob Monkhouse?
Trollop 7 Richard Dawson, lol. I'll admit though, Bob is a great host. :)
Dancing bear and circus animals mentioned and it was ok. Show how times change goo donl Bob in charge
gbgameshows Why is the music on the Central ident muted?
For some reason it was muted when it was transmitted on Challenge TV. I remember seeing a few episodes with the ident muted.
I was thinking it was to prevent copyright infringement.
The DVD of Alf Wiedersehen, Pet has the Central ident muted - it’s missing altogether from the VHS version!
In fact, all the Bob Monkhouse editions were made by ATV - not Central - one edition actually saw both Central and ATV frontcaps broadcast in error!
how can you stuff chicken with a chicken?
I think that Jenny had a stroke or a series of strokes. She and Herbie divorced in the 1990s. Her brother Jeremy became a Tory MP and was knighted.
why on earth they got les dennis, and then vernon kay to present, not a touch on master bob monkhouse
Les Dennis hosted Family Fortunes from 1987-2002 but Andy Collins hosted it before Vernon Kay.
15:48 becuase that how you spell "jail"
I Like him better as host of Celebrity Squares.
Golden Shot was his heyday.
I Don't know what that is?
I'd like you to upload the ATV series of 'Family Fortunes', please.
Did they misspell jail!?
That’s the actual spelling - though it’s often misread as “goal” - “jail” is actually the wrong spelling!
I spell it B O A R D I N G S C H O O L!
6 years on and the prizes are atrocious and Bob Monkhouse is just as sarcastic as ever Cruel to be kind with.a wicked tongue
Let's be honest: celebrities ...
15:48 spelt jail wrong
24:16 Suet ?
25:10 - 25:55
Think this was about 2 years before you couldn't say spastic
didn't jeremy hanley go to prison
You're probably thinking of Jonathan Aitken, who is now a prison reverend.
ugh..the whole set is a massive blur of beige..use some other colours.
For the first series the set was a purple colour.
When Bob Monkhouse left Family Fortunes why the hell did they pick Max Bygraves as his replacement? He was totally and utterly useless, a trained chimp could have done better, they should have kept Bob Monkhouse.
Central wanted to keep him, but couldn't. He chose to leave.
could have ment chicken livers

Kieran looks like Jeffrey Dahmer and they are playing for "Spastics", how rude.
There's no doubt about it, Bob Monkhouse was repulsive.
