    Honestly, Ogre is one of my favourite faction, they are not evil or sinister in chaos kind of way, they didn't seek world domination or glory, and flexible enough to be mercenary, they are basically a bunch of British pub dwellers that want to fight for jolly good feast, just feed them a lot and boom you got their loyalty.

    • @Funniblockman
      @Funniblockman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      They're basically the Orks(Orks are already in Warhammer fantasy)from Wh40k

    • @90skidcultist
      @90skidcultist 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are nothing like Orks. Orges are also pretty sinister. Slowly cooking someone alive, eating someone while their still alive, or eating a whole village because you like how one of their scout tastes, is pretty evil and sinister. They just go about it in a smart way, as Orges can be as smart and cunning as humans. They`re just uneducated as a whole, not stupid like Greenskins. They use Mercenary work as a cover for their violates and the main way they get meat, gold, land, etc.
      Also, Orges are the epitome of gluttony, power, and greed. If they rather have meat and rare minerals to hoard, than to conquer.
      Orks don`t want to get fat, they want to get big and strong! They don`t care about gold and most don`t care about ruling. They live for fighting, Gork and Mork, and fighting. Period.

      Orges live for the Maw, eating, decadents, sloth, ...the Maw, and also eating. Think of the Orges, how the Soviets thought of the Americans and capitalism. They saw us as uneducated zealots, lazy, fat, decadent, and sometimes as warmongers. Now, add in that we eat people & our god is a mouth/maw in the ground. That`s the Orges!

      Well not really, you can't buy their loyalty, just postpone their eventual betrayal, after all, an ogre listens to only one thing and that's his gut. And since you're made out of food, they'll eventually devour you as well

    I agree with pancreasnowork in that legitimately, ogres are the one faction in warhammer fantasy that probably would be the best to live as overall.
    Your life is eat, you have an incredible tolerance to pain, anything aside from a great and mighty beast/dragon is probably going to be easily subdued by you and then eaten...your not exactly super disposed to chaos corruption due to old one shenanigans, and your dumb enough not to realize what setting you are in. Even if you are tired with life in the equivalent of the Mongolian steppe, you can ply your trade as a mercenary and work your way into another races culture, you may not be an elector count or elven lord...but few people are really going to correct you or say you "can't" be a knight, "lord" or anything else...because of "the implication" If they try to correct you.

    Someone should really teach these people agriculture and animal husbandry. You only need to get two or three tribes on board, and evolutionary and economic competitive pressures should take care of the rest.
    Think of the economic and military benefits- Ogre workers, ogre mercenaries, ogre inventions of fertilizer and refrigeration. Plus, they'll probably name you "The Great Food-Bringer" or something, and give you a lifetime supply of meat.

      @@ruskyalmond1977 I think you’re probably correct that ogres have been around longer, as there have been ogre models in Warhammer fantasy since at least the late 80s/early 90s.
      I think their backstory was pretty minimal though, as they were a part of the dogs of war mercenary faction, and weren’t a fully fleshed race until they got their first army book in the 6th edition, published in 2005. I don’t recall ever reading any background lore about them, or the great maw, etc prior to then. That was the first time they had a nomadic/steppe theme to them as well, and the first time characters like Greasus Goldtooth & Skrag the slaughterer made an appearance.
      As for the Tyranids, their first Codex was in 1995 for the second edition of 40k, although I think genestealers by themselves were around before that in Rogue Trader.
      I could be mistaken though, Rogue Trader and Dogs of war books were both a bit before my time playing the game.

      The Gnoblars are a diminutive breed of Greenskin, cowardly and dull-witted. Basically what you’d get if you split the difference between a Goblin and a Snotling. The Ogres found them, determined that they were both inherently servile (and, far more importantly, not very tasty) and decided to make slaves of them instead of meals. They serve much the same role as they would in Greenskin society: doing everything their larger masters can’t or won’t, and surviving off of their discarded scraps. Gnoblar status is derived entirely from the status of the Ogre that owns them, which is displayed by the unique pattern of the hole bitten into their ear by the Ogre in question.
      The role in Ogre society that Gnoblars fill was actually intended by the Old Ones for the Halflings, who were created separately from the Ogres and were completed by the time the Old Ones were cut off from the _Warhammer Fantasy_ world, unlike the Ogres who are still ‘half-baked’, in a manner of speaking.

      it is/was actually a quite common theory. It didnt help that GW wasnt quite sure if warhammer fantasy and 40K was in the same universe which only spurred more rumours. That is also why some have mentioned that Sigmar was one of two lost primachs. However, since GW has since confirmed that there is no connection, then it kind of moot ...... except they again opened up for it a bit by saying that chaos is multidimensional and exists in more universes and characters can go from one universe (40K) to another (fantasy) through the warp. That is also why in one of end time books there are several hints that they actually in some way are connected.
      2 biggest are:
      1. when the skaven crack a lizardmen vault they get hold of some old one technology aka a "far squeker" - skaven for some telephonic device. They get surprised by it actually working and the language coming out of it is Elvish, which some theorise to be the Eldar
      2. When some wood elf hero is tasked of getting Nurgles Pox Fulgrim in his garden, he and his band are helped by an armoured knight which is discribed as looking alot like a grey knight of 40k

      Sometimes they are not. But ugly, cannibalistic and repellent. Like ogres. Or sometimes like any kind of mixed, altered creature.
      They rule. But usually, something drastic will happen. The doom. The FLOOD, really. In this case Heavenly Beings - angels - appear to end the ogres' reign.
      Thus, the Nephilims get thrown off their throne, their kingdoms are destroyed and the offspring of unholy experiments get scattered to distant lands. Where they are no less a disturbance. Because evil does not change to good.
      That's how.
