    Hello!
    I am an effects artist who started with a love for stop motion animation. This lead to working in make-up effects and eventually digital character creation.
    However, I still have a soft spot for the old school animation and model building. I appreciate and admire your endless creativity and inspiration in keeping the art form alive.
    I will be ordering your book and look forward to enjoying your creations up close.
    Keep up the great work!

      Thanks! :) I hope you'll enjoy the book. As you understand I'm in love with old school effects, and I hope they'll be kept alive by enthusiasts, at least.

    Your puppets and behind the scenes videos are really interesting and fun to look at. Its really a gift to be able to express your imagination in physical form, something that most people lack.
    Perhaps you should give name to some puppets that have generic names, it would be like building your own mythos :)

    3: now that i see all this... i came together with a friend, making a story named "looks like fantasy". If you want to adapt it for Stop motion or run out of ideas, just answer one of my comments, i would love to tell it

      I can't really choose my favourites but I'd have to go with the desert demons and the haunted mill beasts. Your own creatures are perfect... any chance you'll create some greek myth beasts? Scylla? Charybdis? I think you could take the reigns and produce a Force of the Trojans if you wanted to.

    I had another look at your wonderful book and I have decided to start making this stuff myself! How insane is that? My first project is a D&D otyugh...also inspired by a friend named Riccardo (that also purchased the digital edition of your book, by the way) that just made a very nice D&D Grell (a floating brain with a beak and tentacles for those not in the knows). You, sir, are responsible for our madness! XD

    • @TheLoneAnimator
      @TheLoneAnimator  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I congratulate you! You're about to begin an exciting journey into a creative adventure. The otyugh is a great monster that'll look great once you start animating it. I'm glad I could bring some stop-mo madness into your lives :) Get back to me if you have any questions about anything.

    Hi Is there an EU/Europe based POD service for this? I'd love to get one but the shipping from the US is steep plus I will get charged import fees on top and it becomes very expensive. Just wondered if there was an EU mirror site or something?

    • @TheLoneAnimator
      @TheLoneAnimator  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm afraid the only place you can buy this, currently, is from the US. You can get it cheaply as a PDF, though. I know it's not as fun as holding a book in your hands.

    Got the digital download version, it's dope man! Subterranean worm from the talisman is impressive, but they are all very well made. My two gripes here: 1) none of your wonderful D&D creatures in the book (but I knew that from the video before purchasing, so nothing to be annoyed about) and 2) why a US distributor? I wanted the printed on demand book (I like books!) but at the checkout the total was over 48 dollars, with less than 21 being charged for the book. This means shipping to the UK would be more expensive than the book itself :( Anyway, great little book, hope to see a volume II soon!

    • @TheLoneAnimator
      @TheLoneAnimator  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for buying :) 1. I couldn't include the D&D monsters due to copyright issues. 2. I know that shipping from the US is devastatingly expensive, but Ka-Blam printing and their storefront Indyplanet were the only ones offering to pay me via PayPal, as well as coming highly recommended after having been screwed over royally by Lulu. Indyplanet have turned out to be very realiable, which seems to be rare nowadays. BUT I am looking for option for European buyers.

      Thanks! I actually built a number of puppets for an online game project called "The Talisman" a few years ago. It seemed to be quite Lovecraft-inspired; at least my puppets were. I didn't do any animations for the project, but I took loads of photos that, I suppose, would be animated in some way.

    • @1luarluar1
      @1luarluar1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thank you for your reply, I checked 'the talisma' but I could not find anything, if you have a link, that would be great I would likre to see it....I 'm going to send you a link to the sprites of Might and Magic 7, basically a sprite is a set of drawings that create an animation for a videogame (it is a technique used before the 3d models), the sprites can be hand drawn or can be cut out photos of real puppets. I think you should give it a go and submit one of your creature to the team of Might and Magic 8.5 (it's a team of people that want to enhance adding new stories and characters to this fantasy world.....to create a sprite you need to take 8 pictures of your creature for each action, (North northwest, west, soutwest, South...etc...In Might and magic 7 they use this technique but not with real puppet, just computer generated puppets, but I think, real puppets, would be fantastic as they Always look more scary or interesting.....your creatures deserve to be alive and a game is the perfect way to give them the life....let me know if you need more information...cheers!www.spriters-resource.com/pc_computer/mnmvii/I actually think you need just 5 photos for each position as the computer creates mirror images for the 6,7, 8 angles...also the computer automatically scales up or down according to the distance....that's all!

    • @TheLoneAnimator
      @TheLoneAnimator  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It sounds kind of Harryhausenesque, doesn't it? Which is why I chose it :) It's a stock library tune called "The Promised Land" by Stanley Black. You might've heard it before, as it's featured at the end of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail", when they travel by that odd-looking boat to the island in the lake.
