His SIL Beverly was a music and piano major in College.
She sang We’ve Only Just Begun and played the piano too

Yes, she was angelic and beautiful!
If I were to get a “honey do list” I would be very happy for it, if it were from Karen, in her soothing voice!
Her gentle low notes melt my heart every single time!!!

I am now 76. Whenever I hear Karen’s voice I am 50 years younger and back into the 1970s. Her voice envelops my whole body as memories flood back into my mind and little tear builds in my eyes.

I was in elementary school when I saw The Carpenters play at the Circle Star Theater in San Carlos, CA, in 1973. They had a group of local schoolchildren up to sing one song with them (don't remember which song). One of those children was my cousin. It was a magical moment I still remember.

Indubitably. Funny you should mention that, though. My pet Indian ringneck parrot, India Elizabeth, had a gratuitous squawking problem all her life, before her passing from cancer in September 2022. Other than approaching bedtime, only three things would get her to calm and quiet down:
      "Music My Pet" CD
      Beethoven
The Carpenters...she'd quiet down right away and listen.
Karen...please hold India on your hand and sing for her. You're both free of illness and at peace. I love and miss you both.

I will be 62 on Sunday, February 4, and I remember that Friday, February 4, 1983 when she died and I will never forget it. I was doing news at my college radio station and standing next to the teletype when the alarm bells went off which occurred when there was a very important news event and it scared the crap out of me. I was now 21 and had a crush on Karen and let’s say I lost the entire weekend and returned on Monday.
I was supposed to go out with my friends that night because 21 was the legal drinking age in New Jersey.

Yes.. I always knew she was a great singer, but I only just learned that she could shred a drum kit too - and sing at the same time! Mind blowing really. So talented. Apparently when she beat Jon Bonham in a best drummer poll, he went nuts saying she wouldn't last 5 minutes playing a Led Zep set. Well, I think Jon wouldn't have lasted 30 seconds playing jazz drums and trying to sing like an angel at the same time... 🙂

      Yes,
that's HER recorded session she's live voicing over.
For the entertainment of the Televised Show audience and the live audience.
That is *Her* we are hearing sing.
This IS Her voice; that was *performed* BY Her, live, in the recording studio session that they chose to be the cut.
Incidentally, she could have sung this equally amazingly, if not even better, again, live, here.

She's actually *singing* *aloud* over her own recorded session here.
In this act, as do major famous Vocalists, they *sing* the lyrics *aloud* *LIVE* right over their hit record session recording, if the Show they are being showcased on chooses to treat the audience to the original hit record studio recording.

You stated a bygone conclusion stating the obvious.
Yes. It's the original hit song recording that was made public in the album that is being aired on the show.
      Are you confused?
No, she is not singing the original recording live, *obviously*
      It was *already* *recorded*
She had *already* sung that studio session take.
She *cannot* be singing the original recording here.
      This is *obvious*

You have made two nonsensical comments that are both moot regarding her performing her hit song on a television show.
This type of playing the original track is for the audience to enjoy seeing her execute the familiar original recording that is the hit song on the album they bought, and heard, on the radio.
