Wrong..... “Kata’s” we’re obviously meant to practice real life situations he took the martial arts from Okinawa And watered it down so it could be excepted by the Japanese and western culture.....

Funakoshi did more than just give a demonstration of karate at the Kodokan. He taught there until he was able to establish his own dojo. During that period Judo and Shotokan Karate absorbed techniques from each other as they were both amalgamations of everything their founders had encountered. Thusly some of the techniques of Judo became part of Karate and some techniques of Karate became part of Judo. Kodokan Judo and Shotokan Karate are blood brothers.
Yes his contributions to karate was great but The only reason why he was given that status because he spoke fluent Japanese and was educated in comparison to other teachers at that time so they chose him to be there poster child to spread Karate to Japan..... because he was not the best teacher, not the best fighter of his time, but because he was popular. You can tell because when Motobu won his exhibition match against a “Foreign boxer” At a exhibition boxing match. And Funakoshi’s face was depicted in all news articles of the event not Motobu Choki which shows they wanted him to be famous and push karate. Which ultimately sparked feud between the two men.

It’s very different to the Shotokan practiced today which enjoys Kumite. Funakishi did not enjoy Kumite & hardly practiced it, let alone teach it...His thing was Kata.
Karate point sparring is so ridiculous. It is esentially a game of tag. It favors whoever can claim they touched a person - regardless how weak and effective the stike is. Most real fighters would just walk through these ridiculous punches and kicks that the karate students throw. But since in point sparring, the action stops as soon as someone just touches and tags someone, we will never reveal thr truthn about the ineffectiveness of karate.

You people already got the answer from Fred Ettish's failure (his first match in UFC 2) from the early UFC. That's what happened when full-contact sparring (e.g. Bogu Kumite and Jissen Kumite) for TMA got replaced by point sparring due to odd reasons. The ones who train in full-contact sparring with face punches and throws (like the ones from my first and second videos) have different results in their freestyle matches simply because they are actually capable of delivering real damage. This is why others move on to form full-contact Karate which correlates with Motobu's fighting approach.

He was born with a condition which made him smaller, he met someone tough who nobody messes with him and he protected him.
