We love this series. The music added to the canoeing sequences, awesome. We lived in Northern Manitoba for over 20 years. The lakes and fishing were brilliant. Sorry, we don't miss the bugs, short summers, or -50+ nice to see your adventures though.
Jim, I hear you lament the potential loss of your beautiful Canadian wilderness. I hope that never comes to fruition. I'm from the midwest US and experienced wilderness for the first time as a teen. I was fortunate to have four consecutive trip during four consecutive summers in Quetico Provincial Park. I have been in love with the Canadian wilderness ever since. Keep making these videos and inspiring people. We need what you do to constantly remind us of what we could lose without the right kind of leadership on this planet. And yes, I'm talking about that guy, who will not be named. Thanks to you and Ted for all you do!
I live right beside Quetico and there is still great wilderness just north of it. With a little it of work and exploring there are still areas that you can find and fish a lake and not see another person there ever. In the winter with the right snow conditions, wow, you can get to very secluded areas. I have a couple that are teeming with fish….
At time 11:30 you speak about your thoughts and feelings on that most gourgeous part of the Globe: the Artic Canada. What you and Ted are living crossing the solitude of that pristine barren landscape is quite a privilege. Fishing and eating those beautiful orange colored lake trout in those isolated spots...wow!
BUILD IT & they will come Jimbo & Ted !!! Just to have pancakies that is what we had for supper at night time !!! It was sure BEAUTIFUL up there right now !!! Glad you 2 are together up there !!!
Jim. That is a MEC pot and lid. You can use the handle on the pot to lock down the lid. And you can push down on the handle so it doesn't tip down while using it. If you put the lid on the pot and align it with the other pot notch, and use the handle to lock both together. I have had same kit for 30 years and its still the best out there.
Jim. Thanks for replying, that's so fantastic. I have followed you since Alone. If you would be interested in trading... "mine for yours" my entire set is in great shape, and I would trade you broken ones if you so desired, since you go on way more adventures that I have as of late. We could email and set it up if you like. I am in ontario.
Some philosophy, some funny comments, all made for a good video. You and Ted are expert paddlers. Some of those rapids looked challenging. Loved the mama ptarmigan and babies. Looking forward to the big rapids and waterfall.
Good morning Ted you’re up first today….Hello Jim, love your narratives…… I must swing my coffee out on my deck singing a cowboy song! Then management in my seniors unit can give me dementia test…then politely require I move to next level of care!!! Run for the bush!!
I enjoy your video, love the singing, especially of Scotland. You and Ted out do yourselves, I am wondering was there any polar bears or grizzly bears on your adventure? Beautiful country of the Arctic, Canada has a beautiful country sad that it may someday be ruined. Blessings
Love these videos man! This is an epic trip so far. Appreciate all the hard work it takes to do this sort of thing and get all the awesome footage too. We spend a lot of time camping out in the mountains (we’re in Alberta) and I’ve only done a little camping in the NWT back in the day. But these sorts of vids always make me wanna get back up north sooner than later :)
Best adventure videos out there … I had a similar encounter with Golden Eagles here in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia this year… first thought they were black hawks, then juvenille bald eagles, but I had very good video of them and they were actually golden eagles …
Cowboy coffee recipe is boil your water, add your grounds, and right before the pour you add cold water. This causes all the floating grounds to immediately sink to the bottom and you can pour a grind free cup every time. When you boys get older like me and spinning a Nalgene could result in a pulled muscle, give it a try! 45 years of hiking, paddling and camping, the cowboy coffee is a camping staple. I must say three grinds via spinning is a pretty good method I have never seen.
Jim, Ted I was looking through a book called Freshwater Gamefish of North America by Dick Sternberg World record on Lake trout. A 65 pound was caught in Great Bear Lake, Northwest Territories 1970. and a 102 pounder was taken using a gill net in Lake Athabasca Saskatchewan 1961. That laker you cradled in your arms was a tank. Imagine what monsters are in those lakes. Again I thank you both for taking us along on all of your outings.
Just WOW JB and Fam again!! you know you rock it, AND TK might proud of your rendition of I S H B A C😆😆😆Much luv on y'all, keep it up!! God's got yer 6! Take care of yourselves and each other ;~)
Well, it's not 🎼 "Loch Lomond" but it'll have to do! AND THEN..... . . . Almost Unbelievably, You Start Singing, LOCH LOMOND!!! Your thoughts on the Canadian Wilderness, reminds me of the Joni Mitchell Song; "Big Yellow Taxi" ☮️💜🇺🇸
Wow that's a heavy cook kit! I only use titanium (pot, pan, and mug) saves weight for beer and dog food! It's hard to find a pot with a good lid though!
Bald eagles hold their wings flat, while Golden's hold their wings in a slight dihedral. The wings looked they were held pretty flat, plus it went into a glide off the downbeat which is indicative of a Bald Eagle. Cool sighting nonetheless.
It is but I don’t, and I think it’s discontinued. It’s like HexClad but made by GSI, I believe it was called the glacier way cheaper than HexClad proper
How did Ted's canoe hold up? Did you guys have to patch it at all? Any recommendations where we could get a pot like yours? Been looking but cant find one like that. Can't wait for the next one.
Jim, great videos, I have been a subscriber for some time and love watching you and the content you create. Can you tell me, what or where do you have your music account to use licensed music for your videos ?
We drank "cowboy coffee" at work for years and the way we got the grounds to the bottom was to pour a little cold water in a circular motion on top of the pot right after taking it off the stove. I don't know the science behind it but it worked...no grounds.
I lolled when I saw the extra canoe seat. I guess a catastrophic failure like what happened on the Seal won't be as easy to fix when there's no trees around.
It’s just that I forgot to remove it in Yellowknife as I sit in the front seat and face the stern (making it my bow), of the canoe that was outfitted for tandem paddling, so, that is the stern seat I had to remove to fit my gear after the float plane dropped us off.
Serious question...has anyone ever considered an emperor penguin breeding program in the north? Before it was hunted to extinction the great auk was plentiful. The emperor penguin is a large flightless relative that could fill that void imo. Predators idk, but it can obviously handle the cold.
The Great Auk was not native to the part of the Arctic and were mostly just in the North Atlantic, there were along the Labrador coast parts of Greenland and Svalbard so, they were in Arctic regions but not common as far west as Hudson Bay and not west of Hudson Bay along the Arctic coast so I’m not sure that introduced penguins would stick to the same range.
@@JimBairdAdventurer who said they'd have to stick to that range? The artic is the artic and the potential benefits for both wildlife and humans across the region shouldn't be ignored. JMHO of coarse.
Glad you got such a kick out of that. That’s not the case in canada where I’m from. French use the word dîner for a mid day meal. In northern Ontario they say supper as opposed to dinner but they understand dinner to mean supper. A midday meal is called lunch in English speaking canada.
Why is it in a different language? This video and your latest family trip post gives me language options all except the original English. Only these 2 videos. The rest are fine. Anyone else experiencing this?
Yes, I am experiencing the same thing. No option to even switch to English. On my phone there is no issue but on my Samsung TV the video is not in English with it not even being an option. Very strange.
Thanks for letting me know. I try do do regular update videos to explain this and also post real time stuff on my Facebook and Instagram. Here is my last update that will answer your questions, it’s called “what’s going on around here” lol. Basically I’m running tow series as I see back to back trips, one for 3 weeks in the Arctic and then when ti the Yukon with the family. th-cam.com/video/biC9E2RDRlU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=945SjZcOXdX5zZtJ

Noticed in the morning you burned a plastic ziploc bag full of food packaging waste in the campfire down by the water. Not really environmentally friendly.
Ya, this is what’s done or it will stink snd become a polar bear attractant. They burn all the dumps regularly in the North too so if you brought it back to a community after your trip, you’d just essentially be tossing it in the dump fire there.
Thanks for letting me know. I forgot that was a common practice in isolated communities. Thoroughly enjoy your videos. Watched them all one your channel.
Hi Jim, look, I want to tell you about this last video...I like to listen to their voices, even though I translate what they say with Google Translate. But it turns out that the video comes out with Latin voices and No No I don't like it, if it's going to continue coming out like that I'm going to lose it.
Hey Baird, there are some people interfering with your video by speaking loudly. They are Latinos and your voice doesn't come out, only theirs. I don't know why they interfered with your video 😠😡 Watch out!
If I'm going to have to listen to and watch your videos subtitled by Latin Americans, I'll have to leave because I'm not going to listen like that. I prefer to listen to you and translate it myself. If I Don't Go
Wow I'm the first to make a comment cool. Without a doubt you and Ted put out the very best outdoors adventures of Canada's vast water systems.
Yes! I’m the first to make a comment on your comment. 🎉
Thank you, At 76 I don't get to be first too often.

No kidding! If u watch it, like it, thumbs up these epic videos! I saved up a couple weeks worth to watch today.
Just love you singing and ted and your comrodery so beautiful ❤
I need more of the footage of you and Ted on camera together. I know u r both shooting your own videos but love when you guys are together on camera.
You need to spin your coffee to "The WHO" emulating Peter Townsend. Maybe sing Magic Bus 😊

I think it is and I e had it forever too but one of the little upper brackets in the handle is broken off so it doesn’t work to do that anymore.

Good rendition of "The Bonnie Banks o' Loch Lomond" Jim.
Sorry I can't contribute to you. I love your videos. I travel for work and camp to save money. Keep making these awesome videos.

loving the double dunt jim!!!! yyyyeeeeaaaahhhhh!!!!

Its good 2c you and Ted on an extended adventure without so many killer portages😂😂
Umm, the trip ain’t over yet 😉
Wow Jim waxes poetic regarding “The Banks of Loch Lomand”🎵
Well, it's not 🎼
"Loch Lomond"
but it'll have to do!

It definitely is, great kit but the stink was is definitely heavier
Years ago I saw a golden eagle (steenarend in Dutch) in the Netherlands, hovering over a big river.
It was só big ...
🎉❤🎉 watching know ❤
Thanks!
wings looked like they were held pretty flat :)
Tori I want to try that famous maple syrup Jim is talking about. Anyhow have a great weekend
great video! where did you and ted get your hats?
Bald eagles hold their wings flat, while Golden's hold their wings in a slight dihedral. The wings looked they were held pretty flat, plus it went into a glide off the downbeat which is indicative of a Bald Eagle. Cool sighting nonetheless.
cowboy coffee is way better when you grind the coffee extra fine Jim.
“The Cowboy Song,” will settle your grounds, lol.
Nice calming show after Tuesday’s election
Do you have a link for that hexclad pan? It looks awesome.
It is but I don’t, and I think it’s discontinued. It’s like HexClad but made by GSI, I believe it was called the glacier way cheaper than HexClad proper
I’m surprised you guys don’t have an oatmeal sponsor by now lol Quaker Oats where you at? 😄
Thanks ! One question how was ted’s canoe holding up a trip like that?
Held up great

Jim, great videos, I have been a subscriber for some time and love watching you and the content you create. Can you tell me, what or where do you have your music account to use licensed music for your videos ?
Thanks a lot. Ya, music bed, epidemic sound, and sound stripe. Hope that helps.
Need more Ted time.
Jim, just curious if this region is currently protected by the Native Tribes or held in reserve for Tribal peoples?
Wow!! Are there bears in the area?
Fire sure, tundra grizzlies and polar bears closer to the coast
Do you guys use instant coffee on these trips or just regular brew and deal with the grounds?
We drank "cowboy coffee" at work for years and the way we got the grounds to the bottom was to pour a little cold water in a circular motion on top of the pot right after taking it off the stove. I don't know the science behind it but it worked...no grounds.

They are by MEC but no longer made. A company out of Germany is making something similar, maybe better checking Tatanka
@@JimBairdAdventurer Thanks again Jim, sure do appreciate it!

Haha, he’s working on it
Keep songs a commin
Cold helps protect from humans
Well, at the risk of being argumentative, but you had pancakes for supper. Dinner is a midday meal, oftentimes on a Sunday after church. 😂😂
Glad you got such a kick out of that. That’s not the case in canada where I’m from. French use the word dîner for a mid day meal. In northern Ontario they say supper as opposed to dinner but they understand dinner to mean supper. A midday meal is called lunch in English speaking canada.
You don't have to put music on, the sounds of the river is much better.I don't mind your singing 😂
Why is this in Spanish? It also had some French translations.
Looks like orc territory! Be careful, dudes !!
Yikes! Haha
