I love that you’re always trying to keep the big picture in mind - how long do you really want to be at that body weight, etc. But I also admire how much you love the sport and every time you think you’re going to cut down you can’t walk away from the chance to do it again.
I tried squatting in flats one day when I was too lazy to switch from my deadlift flats to my squat shoes. Felt more of a stretch to hit depth but okay. May try it again after watching this...
Ngl, half the reason I watch so much more of Bryce than any other powerlifting stuff on YT is cos I just look at him (especially when hes in deathcore shirts) and my instant reaction is "yep, found my people" (or person)
I switched to flats to see if it would help my hip bursitis and it seemed to (unless it was some other variable, heh) so now I train mostly in flats until it gets close to comp, then do several "practice" sessions to switch over to the heels and compete in the heels. I know the general rule is to train for specificity, train how you compete, but it seems to work for me. Putting the heels on is almost like putting the belt on - a little extra something, and my hip has been good.
I definitely miss the days of doing every lift in Chucks and not wearing knee sleeves. I could do a whole SBD day just walking from one piece of equipment to the next with no setup at all.
And you never get the utter annoyance of putting your squat shoes on, only to find you vagued out and forget to put your sleeves on first, lol. Done that more times than I care to admit.
I really don't understand how bryce stays so tight on both squat and bench. My problem is that when I go up to heavier weight I tend to lose tightness in my back for both. I may submit an fcf video soon just so I can see what I can improve and get input from someone who's been doing this for almost 5x as long as I have been

Hhhhhmm the satisfying noise of crunching knees when squating without music
Crunching? It's more like a sandwich bag full of wet sand being ground into itself, same as mine 😄
"I'm glad I didn't go heavier. But I am sad it wasn't heavier. Such is life."
What a mood
Yay, a road to something. Perfect viewing for when I'm all beat up after an ego lifting session.
Love the counterparts shirt, Bryce. There new EP is great!
Let's go Bryce! You can do it man! Kick some ass.

On the road again, looking forward to the journey even if it’s not 100 percent what u had planned
Like the "road to" format videos. That intro music really dogs my cat!
As a big fan from Australia, it’s cool to hear Northlane playing throughout this. You’re crushing it 🙏

LETSGOOOO
+ love the knocked loose in the background
Good Luck brother.
Will keep you in my prayers. 😇✝️

Glad to see you feeling good, man. May be a blessing to have some more time to enjoy training and not beat your body up right away. 🤔

Switched to flats and my squat gained 100lb and no knee pain!
What a comeback
Edits on point 👌
Is that your knee popping, on the microphone, when you hit the bottom!!?? Crazy!
I love my heels and feel super stable in them. But flats are good too.
I bought some elevated heel shoes a few years ago, but for me flat feels much saver and stronger, although I tried months of squatting with shoes

@@PinataOblongata I hate that. Then I start to appreciate the convenience of velcro straps on squat shoes and hate myself just a little bit.
Great content! Getting out of your comfort zone.
Hi Bryce, love the video. With regards to switching to flats - did You consider using Your SABO Deadlift PROs? AFAIK i've seen You had those around?

new to powerlifting. Always wondered why some lifters use a mouth guard, is it just personal preference or is there an actual advantage from it?
WAIT A SECOND...you put your thumb through the bunny ear to tie your shoes??
Supporting you/CBB is good, but a code that doesn't give a discount is wild. SBD really has a lock on powerlifting don't they.
Is your knee cracking on the bottom of the squat?
Is that the sound of your knees cracking during your reps? Eg. 5:26 - pretty gnarly, hope they're OK!
he's got arthritis-if you didn't realise
@@burlhorse61 how did you know ? 😂
@@yazankbaili654 he's mentioned it a few times
I find flats feel easier on my knees. I dont even wear knee sleeves most of the time unless going for something heavy.
Intro song name?
Maybe the bar needs to be a bit lower
Is that your knee???
Lets ride
What’s the mouth guard for
Most people clench during lifts. Mouth guard protects your teeth. Some say it allows for more strength, but that would be marginal at best.
@@mattymattffs interesting. thanks!!
I have squatted in flat shoes I don’t like it feels weird I like my lifters
Pause at 9:35 for some shirt giggles
Stop babbling
Do you have a depth cue? I am always stressing out in the buttom and sometimes missing a bit of depth 🥸
Mine is ”Just do it” :p Noticed there’s usually not technical errors, just that I put on the brakes going down instead of just going down w/o delay
Imagine if he wore Inzer Ergopro...
