Ironically anyone that can rep 700 pounds probably don’t care about our respect haha. Nah I’m with you it’s pretty insane. I genuinely hope to get 500 in the next year
@@ablueairheadablueairhead3215 Pretty sure that's why the records are separated due to genetic differences. Willing to bet women hold 100% of women's weightlifting records

I've done 1 rep with that on a smaller and more stable bar at my gym. I was in a single ply suit with no knee wraps , and I'll tell you it's really hard to do. With Wraps I don't think I'd have done more than 2 that day a year ago. It's some heavy shit. The breathing and lung compression is the main problem when you go over 500lbs or 2X your body weight. At double or more bodyweight for any person, the pressure can cause you to pass out. I've seen 123lbs class lifters pass out under 300 lbs to 400lbs squats before. It's insane the amount of cardio and core strength it takes to pull that off. Tip for new squatters -- work those knees and work on flexibility. just 2 tips from a former USAPL top 10 ranker.
Arguably the most painful WSM Finals ever with half of them got injured but also the most intense (I think) in the 1990's WSM. Totally agree with you to watch it in high def 😁
No idea why ortmayer was invited. Gotta start inviting more competitive guys. Shouldn't be able to look at a lineup and know who hasn't got a chance. No offense but he's been out of the pro circuit a long while. And is getting up there in years. Not knocking older athletes, but unless they've been having a good track record of placing well in other shows, shouldn't be invited.
NOBODY gets as much hate as Robert Oberst though. Seriously, every goddamn comment section when he's in a WSM event, there's numerous jackoffs bitching about the man. I think Ortmayer will be okay lol.
@@maciejguzek3442 Oberst did surprise everyone in 2021 with how well he did at WSM. Third in his group! Of course, had Richardson not been injured Oberst would probably have been fourth, but still, better than anyone expected.
Of course you are not like these guys me neither, dont compare yourself to someone else that has way more size, experience and eat insane amounts of food
That's fucked up they decided to do this competition in old Town sac during our summer here in northern California. Our heat is dry. Im 45 miles north of sac and we get the same weather and it might not be humid but it's dry and burns ur skin
Rumor has it next year they will organize it within the active volcano…there might be some issues with tv signal around there, but they’re not worried as it’s broadcasted some 100 years after it’s being held
Brian imo technically did a bit more than 10 because his first 2~3 were very slow reps. We're talking "build muscle, not reps" kind of slow. It's Brian's fault for going so slow at the beginning, so can't say much there.
I wouldn't say he did wrong. Perhaps if he rushed through those first 2 he would've gotten lesser. He's probably just one of those lifters that takes it easy, finds the groove, then proceeds to hail Mary
This is 700 LBS Eddie Hall did 15 reps on those also Big Z did 15 reps on 725 LBS . And people are telling those new strongman are better . No they are not, none of those guys are close to strength Big Z , Eddie , Thor had at their peak. In fact those guys are winning because those 3 are retired and Brian Shaw is out of his prime. In 2009 - 2016 era none of those new guys would ever make the podium.
You do know this is a qualifier group, something which the events are not trained as extensively as the final's events. Why would these Strongman spend all their training on the group qualifier events? Also, 15 reps is the most ever done on the wsm squat bar by Eddie and Z, the best squatters in Strongman. what you said is like saying all the newer strongman are piss poor because they all can't deadlift 500kg or log press 230kg. These Strongman today are very much strong
This is a welded bar with no rotation in the weight. With a fixed load it would roll up on your neck, I don’t think Eddie would go full out in this and maybe he also hits 10 or 11 because he is a beast on squat.
I just want to watch the whole show!! Why do they make it so hard to watch??
Tv contracts keep them from releasing the entire contest anywhere else for (x) period of time
No kidding man it’s crazy
I've been asking myself the same.
Lol, it sucks. No one running WSM wants people to see it.
Great to get to see Aivars's performance
He’s criminally underrated
I respect anybody who can put 700 lbs on their shoulders and move it
Ironically anyone that can rep 700 pounds probably don’t care about our respect haha. Nah I’m with you it’s pretty insane. I genuinely hope to get 500 in the next year
Women would hold almost all the world weightlifting records if not for sexism. Thats just a fact.

Aivars Smaukstelis is my favorite.
This just shows how amazing Zydrunas's 15 reps were with that weight (I guess it was 340 Kg)😱

Big Z had the powerlifting base discipline, it helped him a lot during that crazy 2014 WSM final squat reps event.

Can you guys post up 98 wsm in high def
yes

I reckon Thor woud've smashed this in his prime. He would've done in 2019 too but had an ankle injury.
Smaukstelis really went all out there!
I got 16 reps ..they forgot to film it🤦♂️
Brian would have got 11 or 12 he just lost his focus in the end. Brian always do great.but congrats to both 10 reps unbelievable.
more than focus his height was the factor I think . He had to squat way lower than others.
brian shaw never losses focus shows your not a fan
@Formortiis Warhawk yeah but Brian Shaw has won more XD
@Formortiis Warhawk too bad you aren’t Eddie.
Is there anyway to watch the full 2021 wsm yet
It was on Channel 5 in the UK over Christmas, didn't catch it myself though. Maybe there is a torrent of the shows online.
GO TO IT. I was there in Sacramento...NOT worth it.
Just watched this after Maxime being on Brian's podcast, they touched on this event shortly.
How do they re-rack the weight though?
Many hands make light work.
what do you mean?.the sporter looking huge
Respect and it's crazy how the squat that like it's nothing. Even though I know they practice and work hard.
I wanted see how they stacked up the bar after use
why do the weights keep getting lighter??? this is cardio for these guys...
Who is the spotter to the right of the athletes (screen left)? Looks like he should be competing.
BigTex, put on some size and strength, then YOU can replace him as a spotter. :)
that looked quite easy for brian
GREAT
where can I watch the full event?
isn't there a wsm final Episode like any other years?
Is that Alan Thrall clapping in the audience at the end?
Wow, good spot! That's Alan for sure. CLAP UNTAMED
pretty sure it is lmao
He lives in sacramento so an easy trip for him

I agree but the reason he was invited is 1.)a comeback
2.)he's not a top 10 guys bit he's a top 50 guy
who else should have competed that year? the lineup had pretty much anyone who was competitive that year

Just imagine the spots have to be mr olympias
Amazing to see that russell orhi at 5'6 and 85kg is stronger than some of these giant elite level strongmen.
