I remember thinking this game was fun if not particularly amazing back when I played it in 2012. It's kinda one of those games you never think about again after you've finished it
Pretty much sums up my feelings about it. I had fun, the shooting was fun, the soundtrack good, but that was about it. No reason to replay the game at all.
i bloody swear too many fps around these times are like that, you just have tons of fun and end up never thinking about it again, even forgetting that boss fight with a Skrillex track. Bulletstorm and Rage are just 2 of a shit ton of fps games simply got overshadowed by big fps franchises.

I truly feel this is an underrated gem of a shooter that's only major fault is replayability, having to sit through dialogue and tutorials all over again sucks ass when the gameplay is SO GOOD.
I agree. I enjoyed the game (apart from what I felt was boss fights where they had a crazy level of health). Games are compared to others way too much and are considered bad purely in comparison.
I posted this separately but I'll mention it here as well, the "sickening amount of bloom and effects" are not just an artistic design. They're also there to simulate the rare ocular disorder that Kilo suffers from just the same as the protagonist did in the game of old. It makes him particularly sensitive to light sources, and so the design of the game replicates that onto the player themselves. As such, the bloom in conjunction with other effects actually make lights almost painful to look at directly and the effect multiplies as you get closer to the light sources. This is lore within the game and something gggmanlives would have found out if he'd bothered to look it up.
@@TheRealMinotaur667 Okay i actually enjoyed this game a lot but thats super dumb. Like okay cool but just because its in the lore doesnt mean the fact that this game hurts to look at without the visual effects turned down is good design. I have no issue with games adding motion blur or bloom as long as its an option you can disable because i know a lot of people that genuinely cant play games that look like that because they feel sick or get a splitting headache. Yeah its great for pretty screenshots and thats a nice little story tidbit but its still a very valid criticism.
I thought the syndicate reboot was pretty good for what it is. One thing you should have really mentioned(even if it’s dead) was the co-op campaign and that was where the game really shines. The single player itself was fine, but the co-op once you get some other buddies is really fun and they even used levels from the original game too.
This. The co-op was amazing, and some of the set ups were pretty good too, like a negotiation in the aftermath of one mission you use as an opportunity to break in and steal some servers.

The original syndicate was fucking awesome. Syndicate wars was even better. I was highly disappointed with this game but where it pulled it back for me was in multiplayer. That felt more like syndicate than the main game.
Yeah, the originals were some of the best RTS games from the DOS era, and I hated how EA bought out and tanked Bullfrog. I love games with a dark sense of humor where you play the evil overlord.
FrozenWolf150 I loved how in syndicate wars you had the ability to go and do what ever you wanted. Detsroy objectives away from the main goal? Rob a bank? Set a city block in to rubble with c4 or bombs? And the there was liquid rain. Liquid Rain.
Lashed My favorite strategy was Satellite Rain + Displacertron. Call the strike as enemies are bunching up around you, then fire the Displacertron at your own agents and run them all into the time sphere. The enemies will be left huddled around when the strike hits. Also the Graviton Gun was a fun weapon, but unfortunately you didn't get to use it during the campaign.
This game is SO UNDERRATED. And the coop multiplayer is still awesome to this day. Game still looks good (in spots) compared to current games. And it had some nice mechanics. Jeff Gertsmann from Giantbomb loves this game and his positivity to it made me buy it back then and I loved it.

I was surprised to hear that this was a flop, I played it back when it was released and had lots of fun... the story isn't the deepest you'll hear, but the vibe of a cyber-punk future was nailed, it was perfect. I do recommend this.
Play this game for the sheer immersion into the perspective of a corporate agent, combined with stunning cyberpunk visuals. The club fight was memorable to me and remains to be one of my most loved scenes in a video game. I'd also like to praise the melee combat and the ability to fire your pistol whilst running, the latter being particularly enjoyable (and unjustly underimplemented in video games).
I think it's good to mention that the DEMO version on Xbox 360 was so much better than the full version of the game that they actually removed the DEMO from the Xbox live marketplace.
This game was friggin amazing IMO, one of the absolute best cyberpunk shooters I ever played. Really wish this was available on Gamepass or something. It was gimmicky sure but still fast paced and brutally fun as he'll. Coop was pretty underrated as well very engaging mechanics and great mission structure. Graphically syndicate was for 2012 standards absolutely beautiful imo, very sleek, Excellent use of lighting and particles as well, Gib and gore were present in the gunplay physics which was fantastic given cyberpunk is a violent genre. God I loved this game, the shooter that was a staple of that mid 2000s gaming
The sad part is the chip idea would be actually really cool for a deus ex like game. In the old games the idea was that the chip could actually change how you see the environment (in the way that you can for example make slums look like a nice village neighborhood). That could been used to make some interesting visual and gameplay effects. Like for example let you or the enemy think a 30th floor shoot out window is a safe hallway or giving the same places different looks based on the upgrade lvl of your AR Software.
I agree, because co-op is the best thing in this game, and the Starbreezes should have put co-op first, which in my opinion better reflects the essence of the old parts of the syndicate game, but instead they put forward a linear part with a weak storyline, which is also absolutely in my opinion kills the whole essence of that very syndicate. Perhaps if co-op were the main part of this game, then we would get a lot more missions, and more variety in these missions. I am very sad to realize that due to the failure of the syndicate and any lack of interest on the part of EA, we can assume that we will most likely never see any continuation.
Hey, i recommended this to you in the comments of another starbreeze game you reviewed, so I guess this video is for me as well ;) Thank you very much!
Hey man! First of all your great! The gameplay isn't that generic actually, you didn't mention about the slide mechanics and the fact that you can shoot while sprinting and sliding, it actually makes the combat more fast paced 🙃 rhe game was crazy back in 2012 thanks for the video
OMFG GGG I was just thinking of this game and how awesome and underrated I thought it was and then you go and make a review about it, how timely, keep on rocking and reviewing old gems dude, love your channel for this and your Australian accent, gives Hemsworth a run for his money :D
I thought the game was great, especially in co-op. I liked the way the guns felt. I think a lot of people hated it because it wasn't the original game with HD graphics. Given that nostalgic PC gamers will condemn entire games for small changes in movement speed or voice cast, you can guess how well they reacted to a change in genre.
Michael Wincott was also in "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves", "1492: Conquest of Paradise", aswell as "the Three Musketeers", and he's also the voice of "Death" in "Darksiders II"
Andre Hernandez not just that but I used to get a adrenaline rush when you had like 1% health and you are running around desperately looking for any health pick up
Uliseh no way dude loot boxes are bad but regenerating health is in EVERYTHING it took me a while to figure out why I was not enjoying most modern games it was only when I went back and played doom and half life did I realise how much I disliked the modern shooter.
Imo its an underrated masterpiece and i would love to see a sequel Its got this intensive first person mode I loved the music The world setting was dark and gritty and highly stylized
Man, Syndicate has one of the most amazing opening scenes in a modern FPS. It's a shame that after a few missions, it drops severely in quality. Also the skill tree is kinda useless.
Slowing down time and takedowns are actually cool and some hacking mechanics but that is it. I liked it when I first played, couldn't finish then forgot about it.
I know a lot of people have likely mentioned it already, but I would highly recommend giving the co-op mode a shot. The game really comes into its own when you are in the thick of a firefight, hacking enemies, healing your allies, and throwing in the odd melee take-down. It was one of my favorite co-op experiences to date, and it's the only real reason to play the game anymore.
i remember playing this. honestly i love it for what it was. the story was mediocre and some of the game design was meh. but there are a lot of hidden details and the game looked good for its time. plus the co op want too bad either but hard. plus i love the blade runner theme and the execution is op. it would be awesome if this game was picked up by another company because i agree starbreeze isnt the greatest. also for anyone with a pc its still available on origin at least in the us.
I think Syndicate gives a rare opportunity to enjoy a more Michael Bay side of cyberpunk. Boot it up, play on the lowest difficulty, and enjoy your neon filtered cyborg rampage. As much as cyberpunk is my favorite subgenres across almost all visual media, I think it's too self serious. As much as syndicate is "meh", it still fills a unique niche in my heart. My biggest complaint with the game is definitely the spongyness of enemies, and I think dropping the difficulty to easy actually does the game one better than playing on hard.
Man, I had tons of fun with this game and the multiplayer. Don't know why everyone gave it a bad review. Wish they made a second one or re-released it. But honestly, when you played FPS, they're all the same after a while so can't really say one is bad unless you'll say they're all bad. Still looking for a reasonably priced PC version
I thought it was fairly fun and a bit more challenging than the average FPS. I mainly played it to spite everyone who cried about the genre shift and brag how much I enjoyed it, but truth be told, I did like it. It has enough of a twist to be fun in my opinion.
This review doesn't do the game justice. The multiplayer co-op missions was where this game shined. So many more opportunities with different abilities and loadouts, having a good 4 man group and finishing the missions on expert difficuly was so damn satisfying. Legit one of the best co-op games ever made.
I loved this game back in the 360 days. Coincidentally, I was thinking about what other FPS's I need to replay, so I purchased this game (2 days ago) for my PC to replay in 4K. Still love it!
I wouldn't say it's rare tbh, since it's digitally available on Origina, but it's up to people if they actually want Origin on their system for one game. Overall, it's an alright game, but I personally messed with the config files to bring down the bloom and the latency issue relating to Vsync on this game is pretty infuriating. Oh and the mouse controls are very badly implemented to the point that you're better off playing it on lowest mouse sens. and use a multi DPI mouse.
Gggmanlives I got my physical, but still had to play it through Origin digitally. Never occured to me that it was actually rare. Couple of cheap ones on amazon UK if you want one. One for 4 quid.
Love the vidz man, are you gonna review Overload, it leaves early access and of the month. What a game, the true Descent successor. Having such a blast with it.
Iv watched pretty much all of your videos. Idk why but i like your opinions on all these games iv played since i was a kid. Iv shot you a friend request on steam if you choose to accept it or not. However that being said have you checked out the free to play deceit? Its a cool concept that i think should get more attention.
The reason why it was originally banned where I'm from is because you get to murder civilians (not essential, but optional) according to our classification board. My confession: Now you may not believe me, when I was curious about the game, I managed to get it on Windows. My favorite part of the game was levels 17-20 which was when I get the full experience while it can get tiresome at times and I like Skrillex's mix of the Syndicate theme (appears on mission/milestone 4, A Train to Catch). It took 6 attempts for me to defeat Jules Merit on the highest difficulty as I relied mostly on hacking techniques to short circuit their shields, etc. It wasn't that hard. At least having such abilities makes you feel energetic. Though, it was nice to have a look at the reboot, though I never tried the original strategy games. If we had the R18+ classification in the first place (MA15+ was the highest back then before the R18+ was introduced in 2013), we could've had a chance to try it out.
Yeah this game was complete torture when I played it. I was roughly 11 or 12 and this games lens effects litterally induced vomiting (with me). I did beat over time and it never felt like a triumph. "Chip Ripping" was unrewarding, the shooting was mediocre and again it was torture for my eyes. There's other Cyber Punk games out there like Shadow Run and Deus Ex which feel much more rewarding then this torture device called a game.
Kodennn idk why to me it was tortuous. I said I got physically sick from all the lens flairs because it generated a mild migraine with me. It just felt mediocre to me
Subi_fan Shooting was mediocre, the enemies that took entire clip to kill were complete bullocks, but, hey, at least the guns sounded cool. So there's that.
When you said something like “This is a poor mans Deus Ex”... Well this was the entire reason I bought Syndicate. And you know what? I’m still chasing the Dues Ex impoverishment.... but Syndicate is still a fun game, and better than Mankind Dividided.
The co-op is where this game shines, some of the best and most fun co-op I've experienced in gaming. I enjoyed the campaign, but the co-op is where it's at.

"JC Denton in the fresh..."
Randomly remembered about this game and search for it, man I love this game back then, great gameplay.
Am I the only one who thinks regenerating health was the worst thing that happened to modern games.
thescopedogable Nope, I also think that too, it makes the game to easy.
Andre Hernandez not just that but I used to get a adrenaline rush when you had like 1% health and you are running around desperately looking for any health pick up
Eriko. Oy And the funny thing is that the first Call of Duty didn't have any of that, it even have a health bar!
Lootboxes is the heavyweight champion
Uliseh no way dude loot boxes are bad but regenerating health is in EVERYTHING it took me a while to figure out why I was not enjoying most modern games it was only when I went back and played doom and half life did I realise how much I disliked the modern shooter.
My god even Cyberpunk 2077 don't have so much high tech stuff like this one!
Imo its an underrated masterpiece and i would love to see a sequel
Its got this intensive first person mode
I loved the music
The world setting was dark and gritty and highly stylized
I love how these reviws are still fresh and cool no matter how many i see
Yay, GGGman vid!
Michael Wincott is AMAZING in The Three Musketeers from 1993, partnering with Tim Curry as Rochefort and Cardinal Richelieu, a must watch!!!
If I told you before you started this video that Guy Sebastian was going to get ripped on harder would you believe me?
The asthetics of the city remind me heavily of a modern take on perfect dark 64
Man, Syndicate has one of the most amazing opening scenes in a modern FPS.
It's a shame that after a few missions, it drops severely in quality.
Also the skill tree is kinda useless.
Brian Cox was amazing in Manhunt as The Director. So good that it's all I can hear when he speaks.
I liked Syndicate I don't know why, the game has no story but don't know why it's my favourite game.
because you haven't played good games yet.
I enjoyed it as well, I mean I got it for $10 and it isn't that great, but I enjoyed it.
It did have a story and I rly enjoyed this game too.
Maybe because the game is dumb fun. Atleast i had fun with the Guns. God the damn scar was Maybe plain but kicked ass if you got the hang of it
Slowing down time and takedowns are actually cool and some hacking mechanics but that is it.
Nyzurix the weapons sounds were the best thing about this game alongside the coop multiplayer
Satanicxela i liked the animations when leaning and bouncing around corners. i remember those being nice. well i liked them.
It is a okay game.
Ah yes the bloom era of gaming. Hated it so much back then, everything looked like it was coated in vaseline.
Brian Cox : Hell yeah!
Michael Wincott : HELL YEAH!!!
*POTATOE QUALITY*
A fresh new GG vid. Already a great lazy sunday!
JJop123 Syndicate 2?Not gonna happen but it would be interesting.
I thought it was fairly fun and a bit more challenging than the average FPS. I mainly played it to spite everyone who cried about the genre shift and brag how much I enjoyed it, but truth be told, I did like it. It has enough of a twist to be fun in my opinion.
i love you
This review doesn't do the game justice. The multiplayer co-op missions was where this game shined. So many more opportunities with different abilities and loadouts, having a good 4 man group and finishing the missions on expert difficuly was so damn satisfying. Legit one of the best co-op games ever made.
The best thing to come from this game is 1 of Skrillex's 2 good songs.
That Guy Sebastian rip though.... 10/10
Please check out Compound. It's a VR game that I think you'' really like. It's basically Wolfenstein VR!
I have been playing it, it's really fun. But bare bones at the moment.
Physical copies are rare.
Gggmanlives I got my physical, but still had to play it through Origin digitally. Never occured to me that it was actually rare.
Couple of cheap ones on amazon UK if you want one. One for 4 quid.
I was just thinking about installing this the other week! It's been in my backlog for a bit but after watching this review, it may stay there.
Honestly thought you already did this game.
This is an awesome underrated gem. The co op is still fun. The co op in this game is where this game shines. Still have this game installed on my pc
everyone liked the vid instantly lmao
Love the vidz man, are you gonna review Overload, it leaves early access and of the month. What a game, the true Descent successor. Having such a blast with it.
Dat wolfenstein burn
Man I loved this game as a kid I played it so many times
the 3 guys who disliked this are the only 3 guy Sebastian fans...
SGS Airsoft what are you talking about?
he takes a dig at a musician by the name of guy Sebastian at the end of the video, either that or my hearing is even worse than I thought it was
Or Guy Sebastian with two extra TH-cam accounts. :D
oof lmao
You take that back! All hail our Lord and Saviour Guy Sebastian
Iv watched pretty much all of your videos. Idk why but i like your opinions on all these games iv played since i was a kid. Iv shot you a friend request on steam if you choose to accept it or not. However that being said have you checked out the free to play deceit? Its a cool concept that i think should get more attention.
i really liked this game, and i really enjoyed it.
For me this game captures the spirit of cyberpunk better than deus ex
Deus Ex has better gameplay and writing though
360p squad: where are you?
I've heard the co-op's great. You'll notice many parts of the game design accommodating multiple players.
I don't see what's the torture about it, lol I certainly enjoyed its shooting mechanics more than Deus Ex's, but I rly like Deus Ex as well.
Kodennn idk why to me it was tortuous. I said I got physically sick from all the lens flairs because it generated a mild migraine with me. It just felt mediocre to me
Brendan Colianni Me sorry, I literally read over that part. 🙁
Subi_fan Shooting was mediocre, the enemies that took entire clip to kill were complete bullocks, but, hey, at least the guns sounded cool. So there's that.
Brendan Colianni try playing on tripple wide , it apparently made the effects much worce.
i really loved this game when i was younger
All the nameless fans.
Is EA PR still pushing their run-of-the-mill crappy shooters into our faces?
*Looks at Battlefront 2*
Yes.
love the intro!
Ah syndicate a interesting game but its story was meh
Only guy on TH-cam I can completely disagree on a game but still love the video. Definitely becoming a patreon
