Thank you for this video. I'm an older woman (60 this year) and have health issues including going blind. If I go out (rarer now with lockdown in Ireland) I use the traditional white cane to get around. It's always good to feel less helpless, even if you never need it, than have fear of what might happen and not knowing what you are capable of doing to protect yourself or others. It'd be good to see more videos like this aimed at older folks.
A super loud whistle is also easy to carry and easy to use! Can easily be attached to the cane also. Great tip on yelling Fire also. I use my Cold Steel WalkAbout walking stick for EDC. Perfectly legal everywhere and certainly enough punch to cause a lot of aspirin to the assailants.🤕 if needed.
It is not just the old who use a cane. I was injured a few months ago at work. My knee tendon was severed in two. After surgery, casts, and a leg brace; now I can walk, barely, with a cane. I fear that I have become more of a target as I cannot run and am limited in my physical abilities to fight back as my balance is bad now due to the weak knee. I have been watching these videos for ideas on how to use my cane. I am glad you used a common cane rather than one that has been prepped or made to be a defense weapon. I will NOT be a victim. I WILL fight back. I will wrap this metal cane around their neck if that is what it takes.
Thank you for the video about defending yourself with an offset handle quad cane.I now get around with two steel offset handle canes. The steel ones are heavier than the aluminum ones, but I am now used to handling them, and it's my legs that are bad, not my arms. I have tried since I got these canes to find a video for using these for self-defense, but only found ones using more normal types of canes. I was still able to learn a lot from them, but really appreciate finally watching a self-defense video featuring my type of cane. I really like them, as they do a good job helping me get around. I am not planning on a gun, partly because a mugger won't stand politely by while I put aside my canes to get out the gun, and partly because my state is very anti gun. I do plan on getting some other backup weapon though, probably pepper spray. I also want to get a whiste for my keychain. I do agree with you about yelling loudly at the perp. Besides scaring the perp, and attracting attention, it also helps to get your adrenaline going, so you have more energy to fight off the attacker. Please make more self-defense videos using offset handle quad canes. There are a lot of us quad cane users out there, and we can't run away, so any help you can offer us in how to stand and fight using our canes will be greatly appreciated. One more thing, I usually carry a mini-multi tool in my pocket, and I can wrap my hand around it to brace my hand if I have to hit a perp. I can also let the end of the tool poke out of the end of my balled up hand, and use it to poke someone if I have to. You might want to do a video about that sort of thing, too. I really liked this quad cane self-defense video, and I think I have watched a few other videos from your site, as you and your site look and sound familiar. I hope I never need to use any of these self-defense or survival tips, but I am glad I have access to the info, just in case I do someday need it.

Say Heah, I have a Vintage Cold Steel Cane, No blade, But the Skeleton Head was molded in a wax mold and its a good chunk of stainless, The shapes material is some kind of fiberglass, or carbon, I forgot, But it's defenetly strong because in tge video they broke large blocks of ice with it, Much harder than a human skull, I do use it for legitimate reasons when my back hurts. Yeah, The police know me and I have no problems going through metal detection the sheriff's know me too, But Yeah, My cane defenetly would give a guy a Fred Flintstone Boink on top of his head heh heh heh. Actually I prolly could break bone with my cane.
