  • Welcome to my daily vlogs! TRAVEL. FOOD. COMEDY. SINGING. PETS. LIFE.
I upload a new video every day at 7AM EST!
    Vlog edited by Jeah Yason
    For business inquiries: mikeyjbustos@gmail.com
    About Me:
My bio is pretty random: In short, I am a professional singer/songwriter from Toronto, Canada who moved to Manila, Philippines which sorta became my Hollywood because my first TH-cam channel MIKEYBUSTOSVIDEOS grew popular due to Filipino comedy videos. Meanwhile, I'm also a big biology geek who is obsessed with ants, so I built an internationally operating ant business supported by another popular channel called ANTSCANADA, and well basically, today I travel and tour around the world doing what I love so I wanted to start this vlogging channel, in hopes to encourage you guys to follow your dreams no matter how random, by showing you what happened when I followed mine! You just never know where life will take you when you listen to the yearnings of your heart!

Seeing you so happy with the banana harvest feels so good.
I remember when I was a kid, we brought unriped bananas from Albay and it was already ripe when we arrived in Manila.

Can never get enough of your dogs!! Britney is just so beautiful ❤ Youre right about the forest being so calming at night. I'm a conservationist and have spent many months camping in primary forests - meaning untouched and protected forests - here in Malaysia. It's still something I can never describe. Those nights camping in forests completely untouched by civilisation, unchanged for centuries. It's just so beautiful in there and I crave going back in every single day. The peace and serenity is unmatched. The best sleeps of my life are during those times, sleeping in tents on the cold hard ground surrounded by the beauty and sounds of nature. One time, there were so many frogs surrounding our tents croaking away that it sounded like an orchestra. Many of our team couldnt sleep because of the ridiculously loud symphony of frogs, but it somehow made me sleep better. The forests, nature and wildlife are so precious.

Lansones was the first fruit I ate when we arrived in the Phils. this month. My brother-in-law's relative had lansones in their home. Most were sweet but some were sour. We went there to leave our checked-in luggages and went to Sorsogon (14hr drive with stops of course).
Had delicious mangosteen also in my cousin's house in Antipolo. 😋

Congratulation Mickey on your Banana Plantain harvest! i wish I could also plant that here in North Carolina, though I’ve seen some around in other people’s yard on summer time but have not seen any fruits on them at all. It seem to me the the locals are only after these trees as an accent for their garden. Well, as usual, I was able to relate on the excitement you had, the same way I get really excited the other day when I harvested our Asian Eggplants which is my most favorite veggie right before my “sitaws or sitaw” long old timey beans; and yes they’re also organic. I’ve had huge tomatoes, the German Johnsons and the Big Boy kind but I have had unfortunate situation on them. Since I make sure its organic, not adding or putting any chemicals but just let the nature take care of its life cycle, the insects gets them as soon as the tomato skins turns yellowish. I didn’t realize the issue not until I religiously observed what was actually causing the rotting issues. I then started harvesting the tomatoes when the green skin is just about to turn yellow-ish, this way I am able to just let them sit in our kitchen counter and ripe by itself naturally. The only downside on this is that it kinda early stoos the tomatoes from growing big to its maximum capacity, the they’re big enough, not huge, for a sandwich. I am a little disappointed that we forgot to plant some romaine tomatoes since we use them all the time in cooking most of our Asian menu. Well, just the same, I was able to relate on the excitement of your banana harvest day and another success and “tickle-ish”
feeling that brought another positive vibes! i hooe to hear from you as I wanted to know if you and your partner ever thought about getting a sort of automated animal repellant ( not to kill but to keep them away ) to keep the bats away from eating your bananas or other fruits or. veggies in your farm. Please reply if you can. I would really appreciate it! Stay safe a d congrats again as well as to your other future commitments and other huge ventures! God Bless!

I've lived in big cities like Manilla... Very tiny towns in South Carolina where there's just one stop light... and vast wilderness in the far north of Alaska. Now I'm in a mid-sized city. My favorite though is the wilderness... Something just speaks to my heart. I miss it.

Mikey every part of the banana tree is edible and South American Panama banana farmers know that they take the banana tree trunk make short cylinders hollow those out fill them with spicy pork rolls wrap them in banana leaves and bake them in a fire or oven.

Hi Mikey, the smaller banana stump (the one who has not fruited yet) can be harvested for its heart (like heart of palm) and cooked into vegetable ginisa w/pork or shrimp and mongo. Delicacy that you can only have after typhoons.. It's yummy. Hope your ate knows how to prepare it. Bon apetit!

Welcome back and Good evening once again Mikey! Ah yeah, commenting on your vlogs and watching for the first time in 5 months due to my busyness! Yeah true I'm a city person, and I grew up in Quezon City! Now if I was in the swimming pool with you, I'd be really meditating on the cicadas and crickets chirping! It truly does feel like swimming in Gatorade, I envy you Mikey! Oh and while you go to the gym for workouts, I've been boxing for the first time since 2019 since June, and although is tiring still is worth it for exercise which adds to my busyness. But yeah, good to see you again!

I think those are Cardava bananas. Mainly basing on the individual size. Saba bananas are usually slightly smaller and squarer. They're both used the same though. Cardavas are great for banana chips because they're bigger.
EDIT: seeing it in proportion to your hand, I take it back. It's saba.

I remember back in the day when some workers working on my uncle's property were clearing a few banana trees after harvesting the fruit and they allowed my friends and I to help take down some of them. Because my friends and I were pretty bored that time, we decided to knock down some of the trees in an unconventional way by taking turns on repeatedly shoulder-ramming them until they fall haha. Quite a different method but it worked and it gave my friends and I some exercise.
My late grandparents used to own a backyard pig farm when I was a kid and whenever they cut down banana trees after harvesting the fruit, they feed the leaves to their pigs and the pigs seem to love it.
