Kidd would have a modest stat line of something like 12 points 7 assists and 8 rebounds, but if you watched the game you would know that he was dominating the whole game through his ability to control and set the pace of the game. His fast breaks were legendary.

I was not a Jason Kidd fan until he went to the nets and he changed my outlook on basketball. He dominated the game by just passing, it was unreal. Those nets teams weren’t that good and he made them into finals contenders. He was robbed out of a mvp.

You can have all the potential in the world and the greatest work ethic ever seen in the history of humanity if you work on the wrong aspect of your game and physicality it's all gonna go to waste. That's why it is important for a player's developpement to have great coaches and trainers that will see what abilities and physical tools you need to maximize in order to be the best player you can be. And I think it was particularly important in the developpement of a player like Giannis who had less experience with Basketball than most when entering the NBA.

Idk why but recently I’ve been re-watching the 2003 nba finals.
Kidd was amazing at basically everything but scoring, and more specifically shooting on a consistent basis. It’s incredible he led that Nets team to back to back finals even in a weaker Eastern Conference. The amount of open shots he sets up for his teammates in that series and they miss is infuriating, but hey at least he got a ring in 2011.

Steph is the only current gen guy I’ll put ahead of him and in the 90s and 00s I think he was the best point guard of that generation edging out nash and GP. Cp3, Westbrook, kyrie and dame aren’t better than Kidd I’m sorry they’ll are really good but none of those players as the guy lead their teams to back to back finals or was the defender that Kidd was. And no way I would take Steve Nash over Jason Kidd, Kidd is by far the better defender and can transform a team into a legit contender, Nash can do the same, but playing only offense doesn't help in the post season and btw Jason Kidd went to a terrible team and they went back-to-back to the NBA Finals.

@@dysfunctional4912 lmao there’s so many problems with the bullshit you just typed. Curry is absolutely a point guard, and he’s second to none as a playmaker in nba history. His gravity as a shooter creates so many opportunities for his teammates, that he doesn’t need to get empty assists. That’s why his teams win. He’s absolutely a point guard, and he’s the best or second best of all time. Second, statistically, Nash wipes the floor with Jason Kidd. He is a better scorer, passer, playmaker, ball handler, has better court vision, and is so much more efficient that it makes Kidd look like a liability on offense. Jason Kidd made two finals in a row because he played in the weakest East of all time. Conversely, Nash played in the strongest West of all time. Kidd would not have the same success if he played in the West during his prime, that’s a fact. And that Dallas ring might as well not even count, he was carried to a ring in an upset that shouldn’t have happened. Jason Kidd is so inefficient that it’s embarrassing. His FG% and TS% in the regular season and playoffs is lower than Russell Westbrook’s 🤣

The things I've always loved about Kidd the most, especially later into his career was that he was a great passer and really good defender. So many players these days build their starpower solely on iso offense skills and fans mostly don't give a shit about defense in a player, but honestly he was a real great asset to have because of those two qualities alone. He didn't have to be the best shooter even though I think a good PG should have a strong jumpshot, but the facilitating and defense themselves were what made him so good in my eyes.

Jason Kidd is a top 5 PG all-time along with Magic, Steve Nash, John Stockton, and Steph Curry. Kidd was a pure point guard and really made players around him better. HIs point guard style as a leader were very strong and he got along well with his teammates as opposed to a point guard like Chris Paul who alienated his teammates. Kidd also won an NBA championship which is a big feather in his cap. 💯

Also, I still remember that first meeting between the Suns @ Nets in early 2005 (or was it 2006?). That game went 3OT and the final scores went in the 130s… crazy game even in today’s standard.

I really wish Kidd was younger on the Knicks team he was on. He was damn near 40, couldn't play many minutes anymore but when he got to that Carmelo Anthony Knicks team his leadership and facilitating when he was in the game literally changed the whole team, it was amazing. If only he was younger he couldve helped Melo get a ring in New York. That's how good he was, that even when he was way too old to be playing anymore he was not the best or most talented anymore but he was still the most valuable player on a team, the glue that brought it all together and made a team everyone thought clunky or put together wrong, Amare, and Melo would never work or whatever else, he was the point guard who was finally able to make it operate smoothly and look like it could actually become a success, just a shame he was too old at that point to give enough minutes to will his body to do what his mind was still capable of and had to deal with constant injuries and limited minutes. Kidd is definitely a top 5 point guard ever in my book.
What he did with the Nets was incredible too bringing them to the finals, the same as AI bringing the garbage Philly team he had to the finals but i domt see peopke credit Kidd like they do AI for willing a bad team all the way. Then finally with the Mavs him and Dirk was what each other had needed the whole time to get some rings.

He doesn't get nearly as enough love as he should, this is coming from a die-hard sixers fan. He was the main reason the nets turned into contenders for those two years and I feel like because the East was weak at the time, those two finals runs get very diminished . Also the situations he had prior to coming to New Jersey also played a part in his reputation being hurt for a bit. Also feel like he gets too much hate at times for his coaching 10 years, he became a head coach fairly early with a old nets team, and this is right before Milwaukee had giannis for who he is now. I'm glad more TH-camrs and blogs are starting to give him his flowers.
