  • This is my first time using MDO medium density overlay which is said to be very good for outdoor applications. This was a project for a local baseball park for signs to identify the different fields.

    Hello Chad the wood you used for this project would vinyl apply? And does the edges cut pretty well or is it a hassle please and thank you

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes vinyl can be attached, it cuts like a very dense plywood.

    Norm Abrams used to use MDO plywood for msny of his outdoor projects. He never syated what the overlay was or how the plywood resisted rot!

    Did you use outdoor paint? And or seal
    It for weather?
    Great sign

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes with MDO you still gotta seal the edges. This was Sherwin Williams Extreme exterior paint.

    I am Covington, GA. I need a “wow” jaw-dropping outdoor monument sign - I dont wan it round, I dont want it square, nor triangle, nor rectangle. I need someone creative to make something different so that everyone who passes by must do a double take. Can you help me with that?

    What would you say the investment was for all of this

    • @ChadsCustomCreations

      The machine I used to cut and engrave cost about $1,500 I believe back in 2018

    Are those signs still up at the park.

    In a similar situation... only Church Signs. Your choice of MDO vs Baltic Birch, how did you make the choice?

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Baltic birch is good stuff but I don't believe it has the same amounts of water resisting resins that they put into MDO. Now with that being said if you you enough good paint and keep up the maintenance it may not matter what you use.

    Just curious if you designed the baseball yourself or got it off some other location? I'm looking to make something with a similar baseball in the sign for my mom. That's why I ask.

      I did a mixture of designing it myself and tracing the imagery from online on Inkscape to turn it into am SVG.

    Do you like you CNC on the bottom of your table like that? I've been considering moving mine down

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like it for the fact that it is out of the way and I can continue work while it's running. I don't like that I have to bend over and sit down to load and unload. I saw someone with a design that had a table top that would hinge up out of the way so he could access it from the top.

    Can’t find MDO these days. Too expensive to manufacture is what people are saying. Alumiply is the substitute as far as I know

    • @ChadsCustomCreations

      Same here it wasn’t easy to find. I had to purchase from a local builder supply company and actually had to talk to someone on the phone 🤮 you could also look at Grimco.com I believe I maybe for this project ordered from them and they delivered locally.

    How much touch time did this job take?

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s been a long while but I know it took quite a while. Most of it was spent painting. If I could do it again I would use my sprayer to speed up that process.

    How does it hold up in weather?

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s been a few years since I have been by the ball park, but I have not gotten a call back to repair so that’s a good sign.

    How did you end up mounting the signs?

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What I came up with is one screw in balanced on the backside to hang from, than from the opposite side of fencing I have long metal brackets with holes to screw into backside of the wood as well.
