Also, the tongue in cheek tone got me in stitches..."it's an ibanez...whatever. Just a bunch of letters and numbers in a totally random order".
Absolutely brutal and yet cultured tonal sculpture. Great demo as always Sir! 😎🤘🏻🍻
I just got my first hm-2 pedal, a Dunn Hierophant, and now I see what all the fuss is about. I play ambient/shoegaze and it’s got the perfect blend of crunch and smoothness for that style. Thanks for making these videos, they really helped me make an informed decision! 😊
I’m interested how bands like Baest and Mass Worship use their HM-2, they have a very natural high gain amp sound with some HM-2 blended in, like a very detailed HM-2 sound.
Thank you DOME,I've always been unclear as to what a clean blend was and is completely and why they are used.your knowledge is appreciated.
Definitely gonna steal this "spiced up with HM-2" method! Very educational video, clears up some of the misunderstandings.
"I wouldn't use the HM-2 with the bass when the guitars are already having an HM-2 style flavor" - I did and even put an TSE BOD before it I mentioned in your last video, it slays but needs that 500hz cut.
Awesome video. Just pre ordered a LHW deluxe V3. I am excited to use the blend feature with my rig to add some additional (wonderful) filth to parts of our music.
that's a good video. As you mentioned and to go a little further, the blend knob is a mixer adding or subtracting the clean signal of your guitar. Usually it's a variable resistor configured for the buffered guitar signal to be bled in or not. Underscoring the buffered part, otherwise, the guitar signal strength and tone would be sucked out by the main circuit. That's also why you get a dry signal close to the original guitar signal but never the exact same (passive to active). As for the throne torcher, I can't tell for sure but a simple pot value change (increase) would do the trick: as a signal will take the path of less resistance, you can assume that the wet signal doesn't meet enough resistance compared to the dry one.
Awesome video as always man :D
Like the bloopers at the end........
My pedals do not have a blend knob... In fact, for the chainsaw sound I literally just have two Eyemaster pedals, and those both don't even have the EQ knobs, as those are just hardwired to be dimed.
...but, ya know, thanks to the magic of DAWs, I can just double the recording, have one of them distorted to hell and back, and the other relatively clean, and then just mix and match the two. That being said, when one does use outboard gear, one does have to compensate for the very slight delay that introduces, as else one can get all kinds of "fun" phase-weirdness (and especially with bass, that is _the last_ thing you want.)
Hi!
Our band just shifted to a more death metal style of music and i personally have always gravitated towards filthy swedish tones but my band mates are not 100 % keen on that.So my question to you is:
My rig is basically only a boosted 6505, can i use for example an Angry Swede v2 with the blend knob to add "Hm2 flavour" to my already distorted tone? Do you think it will sound good, and is there something i need to take into account in dialing my amp?
Cheers! Love your channel!
Yes, it will sound good! And nothing really to consider, maybe dialing back the gain a bit. Be sure to put the Swede before your boost pedal, that's how I prefer my HM2s 😉
The only reason the Blend was added is for bass players. This is always the case with blend modes in distortion boxes.
yes. distortion compression is the bane of bass frequencies. Bass frequencies being multi-directional, they need dynamics to keep their punch. Compression kills dynamics so a parallel mix is needed to preserve dynamics while having distortion.
Someone who boosts the hm2 with an mt-2 can use the blend control effectively. It is the same thing if you boost the mt-2 with the hm2.
What's the thrash band? Toxic Trip?
Toxic Trap
Yes let’s have a dialogue
I still dont get how the blend work on the Decibelics Angry Swede (I dont care cause I crank everything), but if I put it on "0" , I have no sound. I assume it's not a real blend
shit I just realized I wasnt subbed, fixed!
Oh no not another Boss Metal pedal video. LOL OK I have 28 dirt pedals all on my board and live I use every one of them. All have some merits. BUT who does not want one pedal that has the hugest of huge dirt sounds in their collection??? the OKKO FX Black Beast. It has been made unchanged for 11 years. It is not some new and untried or disappointing pedal. It is not a one sound only pedal. You get anything from Doom to a usable modern Metal sound from it and the sound is massive. The lows are both dense and aggressive so you can 'chug' even up full.
