Thick neck & body ’cos at the end of the day electric guitar works kinda like acoustic guitar: the more (good quality) wood, the fuller (better) the sound 😎.
@Vinter Just repeating verbatim what Bjorn told me. :) My guess is that he was referring to his Les Paul Custom (which is a pretty hefty guitar) and the 4x12 cabs he used to record as well. Not 100% sure what those were but I believe at the time, Studio Fredman kept ENGL 4x12's around. Not sure if Bjorn used those or Marshall cabs. Small chance it was a Mesa 4x12 but I doubt it.
@@TheGgreen100 I don’t think that’s ALWAYS true, but then again, I only have anecdotal evidence to go off of, so take my reply with a grain of salt. I guess Jesper had made enough of them already and that doesn't really interest him anymore :-). But some of the Cyhra stuff is quite similar guitar wise ;-). Thanks! Glad to hear!
I've just watched this and I'm amazed. For me, the most astonishing and iconic guitar sound of all is in the "Jester Race" album. There are some info about the rhythm guitar but absolutely nothing about the lead sound which is incredibly unique. It is may be somehow easy to mimic (not even talking about replicating) but I couldn't find anyway to do so...That lead sound is the real secret.
I know what you mean. The lead sound on that album is incredible. It's very fluid and processed sounding. It sounds like he used some kind of tape delay for the echo as well.
@@biffstronghold3926 Right? Very fluid indeed, never heard something similar to that sound. It almost sounds like synth but on the contrary I guess the signal path is something very simple, may be a simple fuzz distortion before the amp, I don't know...

Hey mate, I've been looking for this tone for a long time! I gave up looking for it years ago because every answer was "it's just Overdrive with a 5150" but it was never quite right. It was missing that secret sauce that was the HM-2. Thanks so much for uploading this, the song's absolutely awesome too! Going to go check out Cyhra now.
Euge, your style from the moment you open your video to the end with no hype is perfect! You're real! Thank you for the breakdown of your take of the In Flames classic sound. I always and do really appreciate your approach and willingness to share your valuable musical intellect! Always look forward to your videos, Thank you!
Euge, this video is incredibly well made. The breakdown of the song, recording technique, playing technique and approach is not only helpful to other musicians and mixers, but also a joy to watch the classic IF sound deconstructed and resurrected! Many have tried to get that sound, few have succeeded. One question: are you recording direct via IRs because of the sound quality (which was awesome) or due to limitations in micing up a loud amp cabinet? If you had the choice, would you mic up a cab, or do you feel that IRs make this (mostly) irrelevant now? Awesome video again and my thanks for the effort!
Thanks! The combo of the Suhr Reactive Load and Jens Bogren IR is so good that it feels & sounds like playing with a real cab. Actually could be even better ’cos I don’t have to worry with phase issues which can happen when you mic a cab with multiple mics etc. And I can crank the amps and record in complete silence if I want to 👌😎.
