Thank you. I've always been a Windows fan, but I recently bought an m1 Macbook and am very impressed. Learning to use Mac has had its challenges so far, but the hardware of my Macbook has made it worth the switch. These shortcuts are super helpful. Cmd+x doesn’t cut the file on Mac.
You do cmd+c and cmd+option+v to move the file
Shift+cmd+5 gives record screen / record section of screen

Cmd+x does not cut in MacOS, but there is a way to cut and paste! To cut from one folder, you use the same Cmd+c to copy, but when you are pasting you have to use Cmd+Opt+v. This will paste the copy while removing from the original source (like Ctrl+x on windows)

    • @paulj.elliott2112

That’s true, but it seems plain unnecessarily complex for such a basic function.

    • @MichaGruber

@@paulj.elliott2112 If you want to make multiple copies AND cut it at the same time it is easier to just copy the file and use just one more key to paste&cut. The cut function is too uncomplex.

Exactly! completely agree with this. I use windows, mac and various linuxes over the years. And i learned that it would be the most beneficial for me if i do windows the windows way, mac/apple the mac/apple way and linux the linux way. Plus, having those "additional/extra/3rd parties" background apps will reserve some of the memory as well.

My main issue is dragging files into Premiere or another finder window. On windows you just drag the file down to the Premiere bit in the taskbar, it opens up and you drag it in. On Mac you drag it down to the dock, it sits there for a bit, Premiere flashes up, but then you have to hover over premiere for a bit to select it and sometimes it doesn't select. Am I being dumb here? Helpful video though, I switched to Mac a couple of months ago so still getting used to it!

This is the year that I’m getting into the macOS operating for the first time in my life. Yes, I will get a Mac computer before the year is over. The reason I’m getting one is because of the Final Cut Pro editing program and all my devices are Apple except my Windows laptop.

DON"T, the OS is garbage, only buy a Mac if you are serious for the video editing capabilities and that is ALL you intend using it for.

@@spxncer0910 Agreed, you can use it and get by.
My argument is it is way down the list of great/good operating systems, and is way behind any other alternative out there.
It shows the utter contempt Apple shows for its customers.
I use my iPad for any computer based work.
For all the crying from Apple fan boys, i find iOS far better than Mac OS and closer to what Mac OS should be.

Just got an M1 Macbook air earlier this week and this lifelong windows girl has been LOST!!! Thank you for clearing up a lot of that confusion. I did try and find Alt Tab app and can't seem to find it but I took away a ton of info from this video. THANK YOU! 😎

On newer Macs, except the ones with Touch Bar, Spotlight is just one key... F4. And beside it is Dictation, which is also great.
