BEST TUTORIAL EVER! You zoom in and out and take a long time to click on something so that _the viewer can actually see where you are clicking_ ! This seems so obvious to me, but you are the only person ever to do it in my experience! Keep up the good work!
As a very old woman switching to Mac after nearly 40 years of windows, I found this very helpful. I would have found a slightly slower speed of talking better ,but that is probably an age problem. Thank you ver much.
@@jerryatrick6127 There are differences, but more the same than I expected. There are a few keys that are different, the way you install apps is different. There is menu bar at the top of the screen that gives you access to a lot of settings and functions, and a dock at the bottom. The dock is similar to Windows but it adds and removes apps as you use them. Apple is much more security conscious, and ask for your password doing things that I normally do on Windows without a password. I like my Mac. Its different, but enough is the same that there is not a steep learning curve.
wow great tutorials for the 50+who just switched windows to mac. I have a MacBook Pro and have been Mac user for a long time but I'm here because of quarantine and Im here to listen to this guy's all American voice. LOL and I learned a few Mac tips !
Thank you soooo much! I've been struggling for a couple of days learning Mac OS. I go back to the mid1960s as a mainframe computer operator. My first personal computer was an Apple II+ (with a second CPU Z80 chip). Lost interest with Apple and was MS Dos until Windows arrived in the 1980s. What a revelation that was. I had seen a demo of the Lisa - it was like Science fiction but it was $14,000 in 1984! I'm finally heading back to Apple after 40 years 🙂A lot to like but a lot to learn. Your video is brilliantly presented and has helped me enormously. I look forward to using more of them in the weeks ahead.
I'm a newbie and this was done very nice (as good as the one from 2014) and look forward to finding more!! Great job!! Oh, I've been a PCer since before they came out (Commodore) :-) Since Windows has gotten so messed up I thought I'd give a Mac a try :-) Oh, I'm 67 yrs young too :-)
MacOS is fantastic. I am a pro at it and still just wanted to watch for the fun of it. it really is the best OS. i would not hide the bar at the bottom while trying to teach. and, one last thing, the Red X will "close" utilities (sys pref, notes, etc) but does NOT close Programs (safari, mail etc)
This is great. Three things I would like to know which weren't in the video: 1) Is there a "show desktop" button, or place we can mouse to like the edge of the screen, that the desktop will appear? 2) Is the toolbar customizable and how? I don't need or want all those gadget icons. I need more room to show what's open. Can we double the height of the toolbar, like we can with Windows, to show windows which would be hidden when there isn't enough room on a single height? 3) Is there a way to keep the Finder menu bar permanently visible? I go into Frantic Mode when I can't see the Finder menu when an application is open! Thanks..window user since Windows 3.1...This video is perfect! Thanks so much!
AWESOME THANKS AND TO MY SON FOR SHARING SINCE I CAN'T TAKE IN STORE CLASSES AT THE MOMENT. SOOO MUCH BETTER TATN THAT ANYWAY! HE'S GRATEFUL I MIGHT LEARN SOMETHING AND NOT HAVE TO DRIVE HIM CRAZY!
just got my very first MacBook Air laptop and I'm completely lost but after watching this video I feel there is light at the end of the tunnel. I've always had a windows laptop, apple iPhone and apple iPads so I am familiar with some of apples apps and how it works. In saying that the laptop is a whole new experience and I am looking forward to the challenge. Not sure I like the 'numbers' app on here prefer excel but will watch a few video's to get me over my fear. I have subscribed to your channel a) because your video's are awesome and b)you have a lovely calming voice which is so important to me. Thanks again will watch more tomorrow and hopefully switch over from windows without having a nervous breakdown and drinking the contents of my bar lol
Least intuitive part of macos to me (a longtime windows user) is having the menu bar at the top instead of in the app window. Second would be the red button not always closing apps and needing to go into the menu and quit them. Otherwise they seem similar enough to me to not be a big deal.
Thanks, Anson. Excellent introduction. I've had my MacBook Air for two weeks, and I have more questions: How do you right click? How does the touchpad work? Can I still use Word, Excel, and PPT without getting involved with Microsoft 365 and the Microsoft Cloud (with its own extra expense and hassles)? How can I permanently fix the delete key so it deletes backward, not forward? Must I always go thru Safari to reach my google apps? Can I trade a google calendar icon on the taskbar for a google calendar icon? Can I use my Mac with an old tv screen as a main screen? Why on earth doesn't my Mackbook Air have a touchscreen???
Tutorial for beginners was very helpful, I just need to find out how I can make the apple fonts larger, they are too small, so is the red, yellow and green buttons
I was a hardcore Mac user--25 years ago, and then my company moved to Windows. I just bought my first Macbook today. A lot of it was familiar, but man, it's light years ahead of my Windows work laptop.
this was such a good tutorial!!! I was feeling so lost. Mac is just not as intuitive as windows, or may its just that I've used windows all my life, I was so disappointed and felt like an old grandparent just completely lost with their computer. this was really helpful. Thank you!
I just got my first MacBook and I love it. Thank you so much for being very descriptive when you speak it made it easy for me to follow even as a voiceover user.
Thanks! I just got the new M1 MacBook Air yesterday and I literally spent 20 minutes just staring at the screen trying to figure out how to install a program that I downloaded. I finally figured out that you just have to drag the icon an inch across the screen and drop it on the applications folder icon. My gosh.
Anson this has been incredibly useful so thank you. Can you possibly direct me to any tutorials that show how to use Outlook calendar on a Mac because I'm a PA who needs access to multiple calendars. If it's the same as using Windows I should be fine. Thank you.

I have a MacBook Pro and have been Mac user for a long time but I'm here because of quarantine and Im here to listen to this guy's all American voice. LOL and I learned a few Mac tips !
I can't stop hearing Gabe from the Office while watching this lol. Thanks for the video, it was helpful!
He also plays the same character type in Silicon Valley, and is equally as polite and helpful.
I just switched to a Mac two days ago so this was very helpful
The only video that helps for those who are used to PC and switched to Mac. Thank you!
I'm glad it helped! You're welcome!
I'm a newbie and this was done very nice (as good as the one from 2014) and look forward to finding more!! Great job!! Oh, I've been a PCer since before they came out (Commodore) :-) Since Windows has gotten so messed up I thought I'd give a Mac a try :-) Oh, I'm 67 yrs young too :-)
thank you! I've used a PC for decades but I received a macbook as a gift. I have been anxious to learn how to use it. I'll be back after I explore
Congrats to the upgrade!
I am new to Mac and this was sooo helpful, the basics! Thank you!
Thanks for this beginner tutorial! I am a travel TH-cam vlogger and I’m trying to switch from windows to Mac! this was helpful!
This dude explained it so smoothly 😸❤️👍🙏
I just got a new Mac yesterday as life long windows user. This video is great!
Three things I would like to know which weren't in the video:
1) Is there a "show desktop" button, or place we can mouse to like the edge of the screen, that the desktop will appear?
2) Is the toolbar customizable and how? I don't need or want all those gadget icons. I need more room to show what's open. Can we double the height of the toolbar, like we can with Windows, to show windows which would be hidden when there isn't enough room on a single height?
3) Is there a way to keep the Finder menu bar permanently visible? I go into Frantic Mode when I can't see the Finder menu when an application is open!
Thanks..window user since Windows 3.1...This video is perfect! Thanks so much!
0:53 Love this moment
Thank you! PC user and just purchased my first iMac. Watching all the videos I can find before it arrives.
AWESOME THANKS AND TO MY SON FOR SHARING SINCE I CAN'T TAKE IN STORE CLASSES AT THE MOMENT. SOOO MUCH BETTER TATN THAT ANYWAY! HE'S GRATEFUL I MIGHT LEARN SOMETHING AND NOT HAVE TO DRIVE HIM CRAZY!
why caps
Accident...
just got my very first MacBook Air laptop and I'm completely lost but after watching this video I feel there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I've had my MacBook Air for two weeks, and I have more questions:
How do you right click?
Wish I had watched this when i first swapped from Microsoft to Apple.. so easy to follow and a great starting point.
Loving this as it's not "how to make mac more like windows" like a lot of the tutorials I've watched - I want to learn to use a mac as a mac. Thanks!
I was a hardcore Mac user--25 years ago, and then my company moved to Windows. I just bought my first Macbook today. A lot of it was familiar, but man, it's light years ahead of my Windows work laptop.
I just bought one today and I'm excited and nervous to try apple ecosystem. It looks complicated
it looks hard in beginning but trust me its easier than windows
Really helpful. I used a Mac many years ago and have just ordered a new one. This video is a good beginning to learning how to use a mac again.
Thank u, switching from PC To Mac. Waiting for my iMac 27" 5K to ship out. 😁👍
How is your experience of using Imac?
@@Gadl-pq5ey not good. I used it for an hour and returned it. I like PC. I'm a PC guy.. I can't deal with Macs. 😐
this was such a good tutorial!!! I was feeling so lost. Mac is just not as intuitive as windows, or may its just that I've used windows all my life, I was so disappointed and felt like an old grandparent just completely lost with their computer. this was really helpful. Thank you!
Thank you for the tutorial. I just got my first MacBook Air. Now, how can I get TH-cam and Netflix on my Mac desktop ? 🧐
Just search www.youtube.com at saffari
Lol the new macbook came out did you get the 2019 macbook air?
Super brawler yes
CamperVanSue rip
Good and very informative for those using Mac firstly 👍
I just got my first MacBook and I love it. Thank you so much for being very descriptive when you speak it made it easy for me to follow even as a voiceover user.
Had my mac a while now and still learned something - nice video.
Thanks! I just got the new M1 MacBook Air yesterday and I literally spent 20 minutes just staring at the screen trying to figure out how to install a program that I downloaded. I finally figured out that you just have to drag the icon an inch across the screen and drop it on the applications folder icon. My gosh.
im watching this on a Apple VM inside Windows 10, i want to run Win 10 inside Apple next! Great start!
Just transitioning from a PC to Mac, very useful video. Thanks a lot.
You're welcome!
Anson this has been incredibly useful so thank you. Can you possibly direct me to any tutorials that show how to use Outlook calendar on a Mac because I'm a PA who needs access to multiple calendars. If it's the same as using Windows I should be fine. Thank you.
This is my first day using my Mac, Thank you for teaching me and us a specific guide for this Mac Computer.
You're very welcome!
