Mmmmm! 😋 I’m gonna check out these other restaurants their menus looks delicious. I’ve been to Mac Arthur’s soul food a number of times, the smothered Chicken, greens, yams, and Peach Cobbler goodness when I first came to Chicago bout 18 years ago! My art peer n master muralist “Raahman Statik” painted the mural in the Haitian resturaunt. Such a wealth of Artisans in food and visual arts here in the Chi!
As a native Chi South Sider; I'm curious how you all missed Cleo's, Soule, and a variety of Jamaican cuisine, namely Jamaican Spice. Otherwise, decent list.
Ouuu I miss my hometown food! Living on the west coast just isn’t the same 😂 Pearl’s Place will forever be my spot! Lite House in Hyde Park is a close second! I lived across the street when they opened in 2016..the jerk salmon wrap was my fave. 10/10 highly recommend!
Lior's Finally Opened? I use to live on 103rd & Green, a few blocks away & they were always fixing the place, a very slow pace & I remember when that location had the only Black Owned Grocery store. I need to go back in my old neighborhood & check out their food👍🏿
Family member just turn me on to Ruby's. I was impressed food was delicious food made fresh took awhile but worth the wait and the drive which was 1hr travel time. Location Riverdale ill😊
Correction: Virtue is not in Harper Court. It is on the 53rd St. business corridor of Hyde Park. Chef Erik does also own Daisy's Po' Boy which IS in Hyde Park.

And right across the street, I could pick up some good music from his Music joint (Store).. I'm talking stay Fresh and Hot too..All Day...
I had no clue mac arthurs was still open! I haven't gone there in over 10 yrs because the food was always inconsistent & the last time I went it was so salty I threw it all out. My family & I prefer Priscilla's in Forest Park, IL.
