I may live outside the city limits now, but I'm close enough to Blue Island so I can still enjoy some great Mexican food. Man do I miss the ladies selling bags of tamales on street corners though.

Atotonilco's on 26th street is the first taco restaurant in Chicago west of Pilsen. Been going there since 1976 when I was 5/6 years old. Lived down the block from there. Best Al Pastor ever, milkshakes, rice water, and ham Tortas ever.
The last two times after COVID that I visited the service and quality seemed to have gone down. Rude wait staff and the tacos had very little meat. The one that's on 57th and Kedzie has never disappointed.

As a native Texan, growing up just north of the border, this is a trip I would PAY to go. My local taqueria knows me as one of the few white people ordering lengua and cabeza, along with esquites. Lengua is my GO TO, and the salsa verde, dude is exactly right, pairs so amazing with it!

Nice to see southwest side chicago food content since most stuff is on the Northside or Downtown. If you guys do this again, maybe take a look at La Iguanita on Kedzie and Paco's Tacos on Archer. La Iguanita is cash only but damn it slaps. Paco's Tacos is probably the priciest tacos but they load that thing up.
My family came here from Nuevo Leon in the 1930s. Nuevo León Resturant in Pilsen burned down like 10 years ago. They were the oldest Mexican Resturant in Chicago. Pilsen had a lot of people from Nuevo León Monterrey. First Mexicans that came in the area were in Blue Island Illinois
As a Chicago taco connoisseur, I can absolutely agree with your list. I would say La Chapparita serves my favorite tacos in the city ala Mexico City style. The tripa doradita and suadero are definitely goated. Birrieria Zaragoza is a legit spot as well, although I don't believe I've had their cabeza tacos. I do enjoy La Internacional for their portion sizes, but aside from that it is pretty standard. Carnitas Uruapan is a well known spot, but I always prefer to hit their competitor in Pilsen, Don Pedro's, since I know the owner. Shoutout to Magdalena! Honorable mention to Los Altos de Jalisco for their cachete and cabeza, and Minna's Restaurant for their homemade masa and delicious food. Plenty of good spots in the suburbs too!
Great recommendations. I enjoy visiting Pilsen for Mexican food. However, last week I found a gem located on west Ogden in Chicago. It is called Su Taqueria El Rey Del. I enjoyed ribeye, chicken and veggie tacos. They were fantastic -then I had a hibiscus margarita.
7:08 NOT JUST TACOS. TORTAS, ENCHILADAS, TOSTADAS, GORDITAS, SOPES , BURRITOS, CHILE RELLENOS, GUISADOS , ETCETERA. and my favorite Arroz con Pollo in brown Mole

Huge respect to @AdamWitt for eating that taco de cesos and tripitas without chickening out.
I had to follow after that
Great video; love how informative Chef Jonathan is
Awesome video, great tour, ive been to a few now i gotta hit the rest of em. Subscribed.
New places to try out, nice! All these tacos looked top shelf!
Omg that tripa (chittierling) taco looks soooo yummy!!!! Not many places chop the finely and make truly crispy!!!
Hands down all the places you guys went to are on my top 10 next time you come check out Maribel’s on Cermak and Wood
Chicago is known for Mexican food. We got the best Mexican food in the country…in my opinion. We also have the best pizza.
Epic video Adam, thanks for every second of it!
I'm definitely ely hitting up every one of these taco spots when I'm back in Chicago!
Don Pedro’s for carnitas and La Pasadita for the carne asada con salsa negra
Great recommendations.
I enjoy visiting Pilsen for Mexican food.
However, last week I found a gem located on west Ogden in Chicago. It is called Su Taqueria El Rey Del. I enjoyed ribeye, chicken and veggie tacos. They were fantastic -then I had a hibiscus margarita.
Carnitas Uruapan is the best!!!
Their chicharron is unbeatable
I wish you could have shown them stirring the carnitas with a boat oar
chicago has the best Mexican culture and the best Mexican food 100%. And the most Mexicans lol. I love it here
Nice to see that place with El Milagro Taco Shells. Thats the only taco shells i buy for home. Corn and flower shells are both 🔥
music slaps, food smacks
Chicago is the food capital of the US and no one can tell me otherwise. How lucky did I get to be born and raised here
7:08 NOT JUST TACOS. TORTAS, ENCHILADAS, TOSTADAS, GORDITAS, SOPES , BURRITOS, CHILE RELLENOS, GUISADOS , ETCETERA. and my favorite Arroz con Pollo in brown Mole
I need to know every song that was played in this because I can run, sit in traffic, ride my bike and enjoy the summer weather with these tunes. Enjoy the food and music with loved ones is always the best.
You should go to random cities where people just do NOT expect a taco scene. Somewhere like Boston. I would not expect them to have any decent mexican food so if you find it I'm sure all of us would love to see it. I just subscribed after this video!
Thanks for the reviews. I just ordered from taqueria Atotanilco. The tacos were amazing.
