This was a lovely take! I was able to take part in the flash test last night and it was incredible. Instantly I felt those same feelings back in 1999. Only missing the loooong load times on the splash screen which was ok because that MIDI music use to hit so good. I still sometimes go to a youtube video that has that on loop and just vibe.
My friend is one of the devs that has been working on this game for the past few years. It’s very exciting seeing all of the attention it has been getting!
I can relate, when I first logged into EQ about a year after it came out, I was AMAZED by the MASSIVE zones and cities. I sat my dwarf rogue on the hill outside of the dwarven city just enjoying the view and the music.
1:39 EverQuest Online 😂 I think every video I've watched about this game, people have made that mistake at least once, sometimes multiple. Gives me a chuckle. I myself probably did it several times too. Love the game though!
this, alongside Magic & Memories are hopeful 'Everquest' successors alongside the troublesome development progress of Pantheon. I'd like to check this out!
100% this. Playing WoW since I was in high school has engrained min maxing in my brain. Its hard for me to just casually enjoy games without min maxing now
@@trdraven which is strange to me. I played wow when it first released, and returned for classic many years later. It did build that FOMO in me. But it wasn't my first MMO. I started with UO, then moved to EQ when it released. I never rushed to then end with those. What changed for me? I think TH-cam tutorials definitely haven't helped. Maybe game design just pushes us in that direction now?
@@diy-mitri9737 For me it was high end raiding. You were expected to min max in high end content and I've done that for so long wether its mythic raiding in wow or savagae in FF14 or POE end game. Ive spent so much time doing it in those games that it is just habit now.
@@diy-mitri9737 it can be tough when you only have a few hours, ust want to exp and not deal with an unorganized group. I've learned to take a deep breath before logging on and realize exp is a reward but the journey is the game!
I think they have said there will be more, but they have no information about when as of now. I definitely recommend trying it out, it was a lot of fun.
This does look like fun! Hope y'all know P99 Green EverQuest always a good option. Many guilds need people. Many like me ready to help level people also if you're motivated
huge fan of stalcraft and the original EQ up to kunark... can't wait for this to release. It seems the focus on gameplay has been replaced by a focus for "milestones and achievements" for most developers and that by simplifiying things like the game engine they are able to put out a very fun product.
fellow dark elf cleric for the alpha! what i liked about eco so far was that the early stages of the game are enjoyable! you have impactful spells even at level 3 and the decisions you make matter! you don't have to bust out to max level to play the games, the game starts at level 1!
having not played the alpha, my guess about the crafting system: They probably intend on players having to rely on other players to be most efficient. If everyone is doing different tradeskills, then it seems like what seems convoluted as a *single* player trying to craft something becomes less convoluted. I think EQ touched on that, albeit at higher levels and in specific circumstances. Personally, I would love this crafting system. Instead of lowbies farming bone chips like in EQ, you could have them maybe mass-crafting lowbie materials for other higher-level trade recipes. idk
So basically everquest for minecraft... i just stopped playing everquest a bit ago, ran out of things to do each xpack too fast besides raid achievements for the op aug and spaming missions 500 times to replace all your type 9s, which ia more depressing than fun

Not sure why you would try to make a game of an already very dated game that is still fun to play , and make it have worse graphics than it already has. I mean , this is like a car company starting up , and making a copy of a Ford Model A. Seems like a pretty dumb idea.

We do have a tendency to min/max as gamers these days. Slowing down and enjoying the journey is a tough skill to master.

I have a druid that I play on P99 green. He is currently lvl 52, I just log him on from time to time and quad kite.

I agree. At low levels, it feels like fun, meaningful gameplay, and that's how it should be!

That's how EQ crafting works though. It forces a community of crafters to work together.
Honestly, the game was great. Thoroughly enjoyed the alpha myself as well. I personally didn't touch the tradeskills though.

@Obxhatman its completely fair to be skeptical, but its actually a lot of fun to play. Doesn't mean it will be a guaranteed sucess, but it is fun.
