- Sometimes is not about the very next thing, is about picking your favourite and sticking with it. This is the exact reason for this personal collection update, we are just about to record those yearly Top10 videos and I want to have a clear image from what i pick those writing instruments. To the lucky pick for the Gravitas - Quark in Titanium, I cant wait to see this one put to good use. Stay tuned on our channel and @PensandTea for the rest of the pens.

I first saw the Quarks at the Dutch Pen Show where I met up with Ben. They were just released so I think the only material available was anodised aluminium but I could already tell that this pen would end up in my collection eventually. Unfortunately life has been hard and NPD’s are now being replaced by filling up my car with fuel 😶
I’m still in college, studying for Design and Production Technologies, which is actually very similar to what Ben does in his everyday job and also Gravitas pens. Of course, being in the same field as him I can greatly appreciate the brilliance behind his designs and the Gravitas pens I do have, I really love! I don’t know how long I stared at the checkout screen on Black Friday for an Ultem Quark but I had to stay strong and resist buying one, even if the price was incredibly good! I had told myself I would only get a new Gravitas when the Legacy nib gets released and honestly, being able to save €15 on shipping by not having to place two orders but waiting to buy the things I want in one go was enough to not press “buy” immediately..
If I were to win the giveaway, I would probably use the pen as a daily carry in ly pocket for school, because at the moment I don’t have a single pen that’s comfortable enough to be carried in my pants pocket, nor do I want to risk damaging them. I’m sure the titanium will be durable enough though, it’s used in space ships after all! 🤪 It would also be great to have it so readily available when I need to write something, because now I always have to reach into my bag and most of the time I will use a ballpoint (🤢) that was on the table already. Whipping out a titanium Quark, and ringing the bell (uncapping) to get everyone’s attention when I put nib to paper… how lovely 😂🫣I’m sure it would be a great conversation starer! And at the Quark’s price point, perhaps other people can somewhat understand why we carry it compared to higher priced pens, and may be tempted to try one themselves! 😮
Anyway, thank you very much for this giveaway Emy, it was a great video as always and unfortunately I missed the premiere this time. Can’t wait to meet you in person at the next Dutch Pen Show!
:D well - Matt (or at least I think your name is Matt) - the Quark Titanium is going your way. Please send an email with your address to penventure@yahoo.com - let me know which nib size you want the pen in (EF / F / M / B or Fine Flex) and ill mail it so it gets on your side together with Santa.
Cheers ! and looking forward at having your feedback.
Wow! Thank you so much Emy! I don’t get notifications from TH-cam but I’m glad I made sure to check every other day 🥳 I just sent you an email with my details.
Thank you VERY much!! You have no idea how much this means to me 😭
Congratulations @@Matt-dd1zr - I'm sure you will enjoy your new pen - best of luck in college. Happy New Year!
As an engineer working in the field every day, I have long desired a fountain pen that is rugged, durable, and has an engineering feel, while still embodying the beauty and smoothness we all desire in a pen to showcase among my colleagues. It would be a perfect pen for me, and mentioning that it was a gift from Emy would add an incredible conversation touch when asked about it!
:D that titanium toy would be in its environment
What a great collection, Emy! So glad you are selling the brands that you are. I still love my Nuda. :)
thank you so so much :D we are planning to add a few more this coming year, but as always only what I deep worthy of collecting myself and I trust the brand first then the people/team behind
Thank you, Emy!
Gravitas Ultem Big Dropper was my first proper fountain pen and I love it.
Since I do a lot of bike touring and always would want to have a thin A6 notebook and a fountain pen with me,
the Quark would be my pen of choice: beeing very small (yet has a #6 nib, which I prefer), light and durable,
I could just pack it into the smallest bike bag and so allways have it with me - brilliant!
Good luck everyone!
That's awesome! Im a bike guy as well :D well... most likely im a downhill type of bike guys but stilll :D
Hi Emy, I am Matthew. I enjoy watching your TH-cam channel and feel your passion to fountain pen. The two pen I bought from you is perfectly tuned and I really love writing with it everyday.
The pocket fountain pen from Gravitas is something new to me, and the titanium body look amazing. Should be less worry while using it outside compared to those limited and regular fountain pen. Will continue to support Pen Venture ❤
Glad you like them! For us ... everything that gets to be sold must be checked and tested and nib tuned :D Its the best chance that someone will have a smile on their face once they open the box, get their new pen inked and put it to the paper
Thank you for all your great fountain pen content, Emy. Although I have been a Pen Venture (and Pens and Tea) subscriber for a long time, this is my first time leaving a comment. But when you give a pen a good review, I check it out! Would it be possible to get a tour of your pen room? I'm curious (nosy) about what's in those cool cabinets behind you. LOL! My EDC is a Galen Leather pocket Moleskine journal cover with a pen loop that is in desperate need of a titanium Gravitas Quark. 😉It would be amazing to have something from your collection.
:D a very fun and colourful parcel just left as I was finishing this video towards Kerry - I cant wait to see her reaction on some of these things :D - yes of course we will have a room tour, there are probably well over 1000 pens in this very room :D should be interesting to open all cabinets and check out our inventory. Thank you for the entry
@@pen.venture Ooooh...great! I'll be looking out for those videos. Keep up the great posts, and happy holidays!
Nice video, Emy! Leonardo Dodici looks amazing! ❤ The Quark pens are so small and cute, i'd be afraid to not lose it in my pockets😅
Thank you my dear :D :)) thats my biggest fear, I have not yet lost a pen but I have nightmares about it
Its good to see Leo Nuda, Gravitas VAC Ultem and quark zirconium, which I also got from Penventure :) Guess I wasn't the only one carrying gravitas pocket pen everyday, in order to hear its resonating ring sound! It really just brings peace.
You showing that gorgeous Dodici on your recent videos, gets me dying to meet my Dodici!
:D hehe ... that ring is soooo satisfying, like a Dupont lighter that sings :D Dodici is coming... we just passed on the nib sizes to Leo in expecting our first batch and as soon as they'll be here, we send them off to everyone
Nice pens AH. I really like the Nuda----it is awesome. I have adorned mine with a Custom 823 broad nib, and it is one of the best writers :)
Very nice! Thats a mod that I totally approve on :D
Tiers are the way to go starting from the 200$ +
Hey Ruben... :D its noted my friend
I personally haven't owned a pocket pen before but I definetely see its utility especially now that I'm in my clinic placements and my pockets aren't that big. I don't ever see myself owning over 20 pens personally, and I have felt this way since I discovered my preferences. Thats what I love about this hobby so much, there is a pen (ink and paper) for everyone!!
trust me - like a year or two ago if you would told me that ill end up having an inexpensive pocket pen (thats how I was referring to such a pen 2 years ago) I would of smiled and said "yea yea... like never" - as I opened up to the whole array of pens and their purpose and their function ... and I started to carry such a pen with me, I saw the utility and how making a pen robust like the titanium quark... it gets you that freedom sedation to just throw it in your pocket just in case and now... im a changed man :))
Is there a better EDC FP than the Gravitas Quark? Maybe Kaweco Liliput, but Gravitas is from Titanium, light and resistamt. I'd write anything and everywhere with it, never leaving my pockets.
I think when it comes to pocket rockets... it depends on taste and overall design, while kaveco is more commercial and is around for more years, I would say I lean towards gravitas since its more exotic and has a name and a face and a person that I vibe with ... but thats just personal taste, If you have a pocket pen.. you're cool and a winner in my opinion regardless of what kind or brand or anything
Hey Emy,
Great video, I'm a doctor in India currently working at a government hospital.
I would use the pen while seeing patients and for preparing notes for my upcoming exams.
Cheers
hey there man :D thanks for the entry - thank you for your dedication
First of all, my boyfriend liked the Dodici Midnight and he can be quite picky when it comes to pens in general so... thumbs up for that
Second, when it comes to a list of pens, in my personal opinion I'm more inclined to a Tier List as it can be really useful for folks that are either starting in the hobby or stepping up the ladder when it comes to price tags and don't know what to aim for
Third, when it comes to the Gravitas pen.
I'm a Biochemistry Student (~1 year away from having a Bachelor's degree) and that mean 99% of my work will be in a lab. This rules out some of my pens from being compatible from such environment (Example: wooden body pens are a no go as they are compatible with microbiological life in case of contamination and getting rid of them can be destructive to the wood itself)
It also combines several points that I either like or will add to it's appeal to be used as a workhorse in case that I ever own one:
- Titanium is an incredible material and I love exotic materials such as different types of metals. It's hardness will spare it from scratches while it's stability and lack of capacity to absorb liquids will make it compatible with the special ink I use (Baystate Blue, it even stains glass) and safe to use in the lab (If something goes wrong it can be decontaminated without damaging it)
- It will complete my trio of exotic pocket pens, currently with 2 members: Aluminium (Kaweco AL Sport, Special Edition in red) and Ultem (Pocket 6 in black from SCHON DSGN)
- It was mentioned in the video but the sheer sound that those metal pens do when you unscrew-post-unpost them is just incredible; one of my lab mates loves to hear that sound whenever he has the chance to use my AL-Sport
- This is a matter of personal taste, but I prefer pens that have that feeling of weight to them, that's why I find the aluminium pen to be more enjoyable for longer writing sessions but I can't use my special ink in it as it will be stained by the ink. Titanium won't experience that issue and will have quite a nice weight
tl;dr: it will be used to write notes, reports and journals from a lab student / worker with a special permanent ink
Great to hear that Dodici is so well received :D tiers seems the most logic choice because it can be appealing to a lot of ppl and they can relate regardless where they usually shop in what tier, Im thinking to make like a video for pens under 500, one for pens in between 500 and 1,5k and one for above 1.5k with examples and maybe more context since we dont put everything in just one video
on the Gravitas pen... I completely understand the picture and yes, its a great answer for your daily needs
I would enjoy seeing a top 15 500$-1,000$fountain pens ranked. That's just a personal interest for me because I prefer to buy pens in that range the most
Well that a great point because I think that is where most of the value is... above 1k is very small increments what a pen can bring, while from lets say 250 to 500 is much more noticeable what a pen brings extra
Should I own this titanium Gravitas pen, I would be delighted to tell a story of how great “Bens” should stick together. I would introduce Ben Walsh as one of the greatest craftsmen and artists creating pens today. I would be able to show that all fountain pens are not giant things only fit for a desk and how they can be fun and travel with you in your pocket. Whether or not I own this pen, Happy Holidays and continued success for you in the new year!
2 x Ben ... thats always a great thing :D Happy holidays to u too
If I get the Quark I will carry this pen with me everyday and write my experience and hopefully one day my own story
Thats a great story waiting to be written
Great Video :) If I were to get this Quark it would be my EDC work pen...I have a pen loop in my notebook that won't fit a normal fountain pen, but I think it would fit the Quark perfectly!
Good choice! That loop would have a trusty companion
Nowadays I use my fountain pens more for mental health journaling I find it’s the best way to express what you feel and be thankful for life in general so with this I say congratulations Emil for your excellence in the fountain pen community and remember life is short so live and enjoy every day to its fullest
Yes 👏
Thank you Ruben... this is exactly how I started everything, writing my thoughts
Your pens are your own Emy. Even if it is a preppy, it can have special meaning to you. That being said, if I had a big collection and I sold fountain pens, it'd be hard to choose top 100 pens too. Happy holidays and Thanks for the offer :P
So true! Love that about pens :D Happy holidays to u too :D
Emy giveaways are the best! YAY!!! Now time to watch and relax!
Thank you - enjoy :D
I think for top lists I like when people take a different look at it. Maybe do something like top pens matched with holidays. Maybe even matched with an ink. I think Figboot did an interesting top pen video this week that talked about top pens in types of grail pens. I think top pens for specific pen features, materials or filling systems might be fun.
Great idea!! Im just setting up to record what I think is the most extensive video of this year about my collection
Fantastic pens Hemy! Ultem, titanium, aluminium, zirconium... It is hard to choose which Quark to pick and replace my everyday pocket pen. I have always one small pen in my pocket, to sign forms, documents and to impress some friends.
Thats your best companion :D
Really nice video! I enjoy your content and appreciate your excitement about these awesome pens!!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoy it
Making top 10 lists at price ranges is great. I consider myself to be new into the fountain pen world, I purchased a couple of Visconti's and some ink off you fairly recently Emy. I use the Visconti I purchased for me daily. I LOVE it.
I am a guide here in the Maltese Islands so I am always studying, reading and taking notes...
Its hard to put a great narative behind when there is an even playing field - as much as I would like to put a 300eur pen vs a 3000eur pen head to head... if there is no sentimental value involved, I can for sure tell you the result, even blindfolded
👍🏻 if I win the Gravitas Titanium Pocket it will be used in my new Pen Venture of journaling every day about the good things in my life. Bravo, mersi 👍🏻 😃
Its noted :D multumesc
Such beautiful pens! I can feel your excitement. Just the fact to be able to use a fountain pen... Even when there is nothing realy to write about, I pick up one just to scribble. Just watching the pens you introduce is a lust...
So true! Thank you for the entry :D
In my collection I really miss a pen that I could carry anywhere without worries. I often don't even have a fountain pen with me when I'm traveling, going shopping, etc. A titanium Gravitas would be ideal for that:)
:D ill be fun trying to see if its not noticed when passing through an airport
I love titanium pens. That sound when you unscrew the cap! That Quark would make a great EDC for taking notes throughout the day, but also as a fidget toy!
Thanks for another great video.
Thank you Marc :D yeahhhh its a fidget toy indeed
Thank you for posting your videos. I am an academic and would love to have a pocket pen to take with me to the library for taking notes. A light, rugged, and versatile pen such as the Gravitas pocket Quark would be ideal!
Thank you for the entry and soon ill get to read all the comments and see where this one is heading to
I carry a pen everywhere I go. I love fountain pens and have always wanted a true pocket fountain pen! I think the Quark is it. I've got to add one to my collection. Thanks for showing them.
Great feedback, I just wrote this comment while sitting with the Quark next to me, I have the zirconium stonewash finish one
Hi Emy, You always display some amazing pens. Your tuning and the way they write appear to be just a pleasure. I use my pens for some doodling but I write at least a couple of A4 size pages every morning to walk through my thoughts. During the day they're for my notes. With all that I sometimes find myself trying to think of more reasons to use them simply for the pleasure of writing.
:D thank you for the support :D I always keep an eye out for silly reasons to get one of my gravitas out and start doodling or writing or signing
First, my Leonardo Nuda is one of my favorite pens. I love a pen that works well and looks great.
The Quark pocket pen would be great to carry when I don't have a purse with me (my purse pen is vintage) - sturdy and would fit in even the stupidly small pockets so much women's clothing has. I don't have any pocket pens like it in my current collection, and Gravitas is on my list of pens I'd like to get. It's probably one I'd keep to a blue or black ink so I could use it to sign anything needed while out and about without fuss.
thank you for the feedback :D Yeah ... blue black would be the best choice - this is what I have in mine now
Thanks for yet another great video, Emy. What makes yours so interesting and fun to watch is the clear passion you have for doing what you do. It shows and it matters. :)
Hmm, giving away pens? If I were the lucky recipient, I'd have to carry it every day and use it as a conversation starter about fountain pens, carrying on the positive energy you put in when you first acquire them.
Thank you so much! It sis my pleasure not only to share the passion but to find people that do have this passion and bring them together to enjoy content and to see that they are not alone and we are a supportive and caring community.
I didn’t know about Gravitas until today. And now that I do, I will have to order a few. And the pocket steel pen will be first. I was thinking about Kaweco but not now…
:D im happy to be here and offer a solution for this chapter of the fountain pen spectrum - I really like the portable aspect of these combined with the resilient materials, just makes me look at pens from a whole different angle
Great to see the gravitas pens for giveaway, they are such amazing pens and I'd love to buy one in the future, especially the ultem ones!!
:D love it or not - that yellow ultem is a best seller
I've recently taken on Bullet Journaling as a remedy to some traits I'm not happy with. I need something special to write with in order to make every stroke memorable to ensure that I'll stick with this new habbit I'm trying to create.
noted - thank you for the entry
I journal daily and have pens in rotation for journaling. I put these acrylic fountain pens in a leather case just by my desk. It would be nice to have something that i could put in my pocket whenever i go out of the house for work. Win or lose, at least for me, thank you for your generosity for giving out some of your collection to your viewers. Keep it up!
Thank you for the feedback and support!
Great video as always I really enjoyed your interview with Ben from the previous video. I have a backpack with my computer and calendar and some other stuff I carry everyday back and forth to work. In the bag i have two dedicated pens that is always there one of them broke a week ago so the titanium pen would cover up for that one and be a great advocate for Gravitas as I always bring those pens out everywhere I go. Thank you.
:D while I was the backpack guy for a long time, I recently switched to a briefcase type for my laptop and I have not yet introduced pens in that, tho' im carrying my gravitas pocket or quark in my jeans all the time
If I get the Quark would use it every day for making notes.
Thank you so much for the entry and feedback :D
Emy there is a Leonardo pen that I’m told sold out so fast and was only sold in Italy. It’s blue and looks like the stars and the pen body itself is not shiny. The material is like flat matte… do you know the pen in talking about? Do you have this pen?
To this description I can only think of one pen, its the Stilo e Stile exclusive collection pen, I know it but as I said, it was an exclusive to that shop
I LOVE a fountain pens, I use them for an Urban Sketching !
Thank you for the entry :D great way to use a pen
I think i will use that pen in my pocket EDC note book. Merry Christmas!
Happy holidays Hector :D
I love sterling silver pens. Any content would be fun.
good point :D I have some
👍👍Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas, and the happiest and healthiest of New Years ... cheers! BTW ... sending an email regarding one of your pens 😉
Happy holidays Dave! May this be a perfect time spent in peace with the family, Seen the email - I was just about to send you a pic regarding a listing of that very pen - enter on instagram @virtualpenshow and look for it, write to the owner a DM because its at a very attractive pricing and it comes with that 23k PD nib too
👍👍@@pen.venture
I always have a copper Lilliput in my wallet (a Galen leather EDC wallet btw :), I think upgrading to a titanium will make my FP conversation starter even more effective. I'll have to do some A/B testing just to be sure...
So... you are not a newbie in this game :D
@@pen.venture I have used fountain pens for about 5 years in school, then moved to almost exclusively keyboards for 25 years, and now I've been back 4 years ago, this time I went all in. got a nice collection, I fix pens for my community and have even opened an FP channel on YT (but it's Hebrew only, so I have a monopoly :).
I would cherish the Quark. It would come with me everywhere; writing notes, journaling, capturing my thoughts, feelings, and keeping track of my health issues. It would be there when l want to fiddle with the cap and as a conversation starter with friends. Thanks for the opportunity!
Thank you for the entry... this pen indeed is like a toy, I constantly look for reasons to get it open and closed when I have it with me
thank you for the entry - this quark is such a toy, I always look for reasons to take it out of my pocket and to open and close it or find reasons to write something or doodle
Hi Emy 💫I would love the chance to be considered for Quark, my penpal is my grade 2 teacher who is now 79 and we have been writing to each other for many years, i would love to write her a letter with this pen! Stay safe be well xo
hey there - sadly this giveaway ended and the person has received the quark. Stay tuned for more to come
Thanks for responding 💕
Emy, I love witnessing your genuine warmth and passion as you share your passion for fountain pens. You remind me a bit of myself when it comes to drawing. I am an artist who is obsessed with sharing the joy of drawing with everyone I meet. I facilitate large scale collaborative drawings and crafting spaces. I find one of the most interesting ways to get to know people is to draw together and I have come up with many collaborative drawing games that I love to play with people. This often involves taking turns to add marks to a page until we have a completed picture that represents our interaction! I always try to have a fountain pen and paper on me when I am out and about for these purposes. The titanium quark looks so inviting and tactile and I can imagine it being an approachable and unassuming tool to share in these interactions I have with people. To feel it warm up as it passes between hands and smiles and non-verbal conversation would be so lovely. I know you understand that joy of passing someone a pen and seeing them light up! ☺️ ps. I hear the zirconium quark makes an amazing ringing sound too!
Thank you so much for your kind feedback - often I find myself with my daughter writing or drawing, even colouring - and this time is flashing by so quick and its so relaxing and mentally I feel like a new person after a few hours with her colouring usually unicorns and sea horses :))
@@pen.venture Awe that's so lovely! Enjoy these moments!
Quark would definitely sit either in my pocket or pocket of my traveler's notebook which I treat almost as a second brain - it travels with me everywhere at all times. It would really fit the esthetics of its dark leather cover. Having such a nice pen always at hand would be great. My most valued pen is also from Gravitas - stainless steel entry - but I'm a bit scared of taking it everywhere I go.
That's a great idea! You shouldn't be scared when it comes to a titanium pen ... pretty much about anything and everything
Also titanium is a lot lighter. Stainless steel entry is a lot of weight. Somewhat unwieldy on the go. I imagine the pocket stainless is a lot better with that.
Amazing pens, Emy! What a legacy already (with much more to come, I’m sure!). As I’m a teacher, chucking a quark in my pocket and having it to hand whenever a bit of emergency marking comes my way would be super useful! Good luck with the business and the channel!
Thank you for the feedback my friend - we are growing, one brand at a time, one pen at a time... living, growing, learning and sharing with everyone
I only recently found your channel and really love your enthusiasm and seeing the beautiful pens. I have become my wife's penenabler, and she loves her collection of twsbi pens, which she uses for several hours a day taking notes for her studies of Buddhist philosophy and practice, but she doesn't have a fountain pen to carry her through the rest of the day. If I were to be gifted the Gravitas Quark in titanium, it would be hers to have, hold, carry, and write anytime she desires! And a top 12 pens that cost less than 200 euros would be great to see. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the entry and also about the tip with the tier top pens ... im thinking as we speak how to record this 3 part video :D
The Quark is such a beautiful pen that I would almost be afraid to carry it as an EDC, but it is made to pour the soul of the writer. I would carry it close to my heart.
hehe - a titanium pen is just asking for trouble and adventure
If these pens were 2/3rds or in some cases 50% of their asking price, I'd be all over them. I think the "luxury" fountain pen bubble should, and is going to, burst sooner rather than later just like the stock exchanges do or the tulip market did. For now, retailers and manufacturers can enjoy getting paid handsomely for fountain pens with generic German nibs and plastic feeds. I am not complaining (much) about that. Whatever the market asks and can get paid for is fair and fine. I am willing to wait for the coming crash. Until then, sell me a Leonardo Momento Zero for US$60 plus shipping.
:D well - grab some supplies just in case this is a long lasting bubble. Luxury goods all together in history has been through times of up and down ... but the trend has been always only up. When demand for some type of pen or specific aspects regarding a pen will go down - people would gravitate for some other characteristics on different pens. No credits for negotiating skills tho' :D we wont sell you a Leonardo MZ for 60 plus shipping
I understand and appreciate your opinion. I wish you the best. But there is no way I, or anyone who doesn't buy into the "luxury" fountain pen craze, would buy a Leondardo MZ for US$160 plus US$20 shipping = US$180!
Possible but highly unlikely from our experience - I as a individual I’m probably not the best example to prove this since I payed and I will pay, just like myself, I think that they are ppl that are completely opposite - nothing wrong with that
