    Man Utd right now is the total opposite - marginal losses that contribute to our decade of failures.

  • @tomteatom
    @tomteatom 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

    Which is why the first thing they did was pledge to spend 2-300m over the next 12 months on facility upgrades alone.
    They must have seen the fact the Glazers haven't spent a penny on these things since they arrived and known instantly that this is a massive area where rapid incremental gains can be made.
    I do wonder how long this takeover has actually been in the works because EtH himself seems more like an Ineos appointment than a Glazer one.
    "The plan is huge"

    • @SneakyB
      @SneakyB 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Man Utd is massively behind sports science compared to other clubs. It's why Glazers prefer spending on expensive finished products rather than developing project players. I think this is also the reason why some of our players have a limit of playing 1 good season per appointed manager because recovery isn't there while other clubs can sustain high press tactics throughout a season because the facilities and science are heavily institutionalized.

    • @tomteatom
      @tomteatom 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@SneakyB Exactly. It's also obviously why no player has come to us and had the natural progression that you'd expect any player to have between 25-29. That golden period for a high potential player is simply not realised at our club or quite the opposite happens, in that they decline in those years when they should at the very least plateau. It's got to be the single biggest plus of getting sporting people in, who will recognise this instantly and do something about it, rather than financial people who will see it as an area to trim the fat and reap the profit, because they have no foresight beyond what is presented to them on a spreadsheet.

    The first thing is to set the right strategy, then build the right club structure. After that, find the best people to work within that structure to support that strategy. After that? Reset the internal culture. After that? We should be good from there given our close to bottomless financial prowess and fan supports.

    We have had idiots running the club for over a decade with no commitment to success on the pitch. It won’t be difficult for Brailsford and co to improve on that. Unfortunately the idiots have burnt through our headroom on FFP and so it will indeed be marginal improvement over many years but at least we are no longer sinking further into the mire with every transfer window.

    You can see in western culture what fast and drastic change does to a system... Yes you see change and those who thought it would work blind to certain effects in their planning is very happy however those negative effects still linger from each step in that direction. As fast change is continuously applied no time is set aside to evaluate flaws letting them fester grow and evolve. You want to make small improvements and evaluate each step to make sure its the right direction and see if any flaws can be corrected and dialed in. This avoids having to start over, "Find a new leader, build a whole new system from the ground, discovering weaknesses too late... I mean we all want progress even conservatives secretely do, its a matter of how fast change is long term viable.

  • @dessertstorm7476

    i hope it works out. We had a kaizen team come through at our job and they tried to make a lot of changes, but it was more of a fad and when they were gone, nothing really changed. If that team had been around when the place was new they could've done something, but after structure and habits are in place it can be just too hard to change and there's too much resistance and you need to tear everything down and start over.

    This sounds all lovely and that but in reality we’re still owned by the Glazers. They’ve already thrown a spanner in the works when we heard that Jeane Claude Blanc won’t be our CEO. Although INEOS and The Glazers have to come to an agreement on the CEO I’m expecting them to pull their majority ownership card and choose an Ed Woodward type of CEO.
    Marginal gains in and of itself isn’t a bad concept and since it seems like they want to overhaul our training facilities and recruitment I actually welcome it. But my point is, will 1% improvement really cut it when we’re up against a modern juggernaut like City? We’re already hearing the FFP excuses and that money will be tight so it doesn’t bode well imo. Really hope I’m wrong but all of this talk just sounds like fluff to make our ears tingle.

  • @hypebeastreet
    @hypebeastreet 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    #1, we need to fix the recruitment system.
    We should avoid signing players like Mount with a lot of injuries record, Sancho with his attitude problem
    and don’t go halfway to get star players. Instead buying Hojlund we can keep some money to sign a proven striker like Oshimen, Kane, etc.

    agree and disagree...while in theory is seemed doable, but cycling and football are totally different. Cycling more industrial type sport just like swimming, while football requires more raw talent, football IQ, vision and pressure to immediate success. Often times how many practice you put, it is impossible to have creativity like ronaldinho or messi. While I think most of us can be at least good cycler, not most us can be a good footballer....totally different game. Still, I hope ManU have at least decent improvement for this season
