    Our LB is a major concern, dalot playing RB was miles better than first 70 min and you know why . First 30 min we were so bad because rashford doesn’t do much to help dalot, eriksen had to cover that area a lot

    Videos are improving admin keep on posting consistently I definitely think some problems with dalot at lb also have to remember he isn’t used to it so have to give him some benefit and I also think rashford doesn’t help as much as Amad does which contributes to more chances going down dalot side as if u look back at the game Amad is always stuck to his man and rashford is giving his man a lot of space

    • @OldTruthford

      Cheers Kay Kay! I think Rashford has been fairly solid defensively this season, no matter how well protected you are in a system as a defender a time will come when you're playing a 1v1 and it's always been the side of Dalot's game that's been questioned whereas Mazraoui has come straight in and there are no examples to point towards his 1v1 defending being poor. But as you say not his position so can't be too critical.

    Nonsense we have two left backs injured and it's just a stop gap measure until they recover , he only had one bad game which can happen to any player . Dalot is one of our best players and always gives his all .

    This is exactly what I've been telling my United friends, Dalot is the weakest link in United Squad at the moment. Its not that he's a terrible defender, he's just a terrible left back. If you look at all the goal we've conceded, most if not all have come from his side. And until we see an improvement on his wing, we're doomed. And like Sir Alex Ferguson said "Defence wins you titles"

  • @nav8873

    Good video admin, I would tend to agree that dalot is a bit of a liability at lb but I would say that he as a player isn’t a good defensive player, hence the awb v dalot debates. Imo finishing chances is still our biggest problem. If we finished the chances, dalot’s errors wont be as significant as we’re making them right now. Keep up the good work!

    • @OldTruthford
      @OldTruthford  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Bear in mind these examples are only from 4 games, we do still have 34 games in the league to play now Dalot could prove me wrong in that time or this become even more of a problem, in terms of attacking talent I believe we're going to see a turn in how clinical our forwards are in the next few games, with Zirkzee growing into the league and Rashford coming into form.

    Dalot is a weak spot, but I do worry about the finishing. Zirkzee doesn't look very clinical, Hojlund has been injured a few times now. Rashford and Garnacho can be wasteful. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic that Shaw will get back fit and maybe stay fit because if he was to be missing again for big chunks of the season then yeah, you'd probably be right and LB would be more concerning.

    • @OldTruthford
      @OldTruthford  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Zirkzee's performance against Southampton in comparison to Liverpool was night and day, could be because it was an easier opponent or he's growing into the league, time will tell. Luke Shaw is 29 years old now and extremely injury prone, it's time to offload and bring a new long term option in, the reason I think LB is more of a worry is because we do have a lot of attacking talent, so even though we waste chances I do think the talent will make up for that, whereas with the left back position there's no hiding, all it takes is a Dalot injury and we're screwed for the season.

    Dalot is a good player but gets caught out many times ,yeah we know he aint a left back but he is a defender. Proper left back would be one that is solid at covering his position but also someone who knows when to go forward i think ineos needs to look at recruiting right. United have recruited so many LBs and RBs in the last 10 years that have just went through a couple of seasons with lack luster performances and then sold. I think with Ugarte looking promising(i hope he can strike a good partnership with Mainoo) in the mid we should see our front 3/4 being more able to express, create and finish.

    Completely agree about dalot. There is zero balance when he is one the left. He isn’t left footed and he doesn’t like to engage. Does the whole “side on “ thing but won’t put a foot in.
    I am a firm believer that we should be bleeding amass into the team. The kid got game, would bring balance and is hungry to succeed. And yes there will be those that say he doesn’t have the experience but how is he suppose to gain it if he isn’t played. And look at a certain MR. Mainoo, if your good enough your old enough. Time for the next youth prodigy to make his mark.

      @OldTruthford as a fellow Utd fan I hope you are right but I have to ask, why are we assuming the attack will get better when we have no proven Goalscorers in our team, but we don't believe we can get better defensively (from LB)?

    • @andrew13yt
      @andrew13yt 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There's no doubt that the LB position is the most important issue that needs addressing asap. I might be wrong but I don't think Malacia will make it at United, he isn't a wing back and from what I saw of him he's out of his depth in the Premier League. Shaw is an elite level attacking left back but simply too injury prone to depend upon. I think Anthonee Robinson would be a very good fit for United if INEOS could bring him into the squad.
      I don't think you can just explain it as simply being a Dalot playing out of position problem; Ten Hag is committed to a high pressing 4-2-3-1 system but doesn't yet have the personnel available to play that system successfully in the Premier League; this season he has been using inverted fullbacks to help bolster the porous midfield that saw United concede 20 shots per game last season, which in turn was due to the fact that there was no one in the squad with the legs and lungs to play as an aggressive, pressing no 6 in a two man midfield, neither was there a consistently available CB pairing available who could play a high line; add to that the problem that Bruno is a high risk player and often loses possession in dangerous areas; any 2 man combination of Casemiro/Ericson and Mainoo cant cover enough ground when out of possession against athletic, well drilled, technical teams like Liverpool and Brighton who can turn over possession and transition quickly.
      Once he is fully match fit and has adjusted to the pace of the Premier League Ugarte will improve United's defensive solidity, allow the CBs to play a higher line and permit Mainoo/Casemiro/Bruno/Ericson to play higher up the pitch without having to cover so much ground or make as many tackles when United lose possession in the opposition half, but there will be at least a dozen games where a more pragmatic and defensive three man midfield is needed and Ten Hag needs to be able to adapt his tactics accordingly, we lost too.many points last season because of his refusal to do this.
      Also, I think another key to unlocking this United teams potential is Joshua Zirkzee, who I believe could become a very important player for Ten Hag; the combination of his dribbling, unpredictability, quick feet, vision, ability to receive the ball and operate in tight spaces under pressure, the speed of his interplay and weight of pass, his high work rate, willingness to press, his sheer physical size and ability to retain possession, as well as his knack of being able to find pockets of space to both receive and create chances in great positions and make third man runs into the box will make him a genuine alternative to, and, against certain types of opposition, a more suitable option than Bruno as the main creative link player. That might seem a contentious thing to say, and I highly rate Bruno, and I understand why he does it, but he needs to stop dropping deep against high pressing, technical sides.
      The prospect of seeing Zirkzee pulling the strings alongside a freed up Mainoo with Ugarte as DM and seeing Joshua's interplay and chance creation for Amad, Rashford and Garnacho is mouthwatering one.
      Having a fit Ugarte and Zirkzee will allow Ten Hags teams to press higher, turnover and transition more quickly, retain more possession, create more chances and score more goals.
      Bringing in a reliable, fit LWB in January who has Premier League experience is a must imho although why Alavro Fernandez was sold in the first place is beyond me.
