多方面で活躍を見せる日本を代表するジャズピアニスト、平戸祐介 の新プロジェクトが、待望のフルアルバムを発表。
前作 『TOWER OF TOUCH (AHS-015)』 で披露された職人芸とも言える、ジャズ~クロスオーヴァー~ファンクを巧みに融合させたサウンドを踏襲しつつも、本作では全体を通してポップ性をより追求した作品となった。
先行7inchシングルにも収録のSoul/R&Bシンガー、笠原瑠斗 と 上野紗英 をフィーチャーした MIGHTY RYEDERS 「Evil Vibrations」 のカヴァーに加え、福岡が生んだ若き女性シンガー "来海" を迎えたオリジナル楽曲 「INVISIBLE」 も本作のトピックの一つ。
「Kaleidoscope」「Shades of Blu」「It got to be FUNKY」など、平戸の根底に流れるブラックミュージックへの敬意溢れるダンサブルな12曲が並ぶ。
『HIGHER & HIGHER』 というアルバムタイトルが差し示すように、天井知らずの創造力を持ち、常に高みを目指し続ける平戸自身の、精神世界を投影した傑作の誕生である。
A new project by Yusuke Hirado, one of Japan's leading jazz pianists who is active in many fields, has released the long-awaited full-length album.
While following the sound that skillfully fused jazz-crossover-funk, which can be said to be the craftsmanship shown in the previous work "TOWER OF TOUCH (AHS-015)", this work pursued more popness throughout. It became a work.
In addition to the cover of MIGHTY RYEDERS "Evil Vibrations" featuring Soul / R & B singer Ruto Kasahara and Sae Ueno, which was also recorded in the preceding 7inch single, the original song "INVISIBLE" featuring the very talented young female singer "Kurumi" born in Fukuoka. Is also one of the topics of this work.
Twelve danceable tracks such as "Kaleidoscope," "Shades of Blu," and "It got to be FUNKY," which are full of respect for the black music that underlies Hirado, are lined up.
As the album title "HIGHER & HIGHER" indicates, it is the birth of a masterpiece that projects the spiritual world of Hirado himself, who has creativity without knowing the ceiling and always aims for heights.
