I don't normally comment on videos, but I absolutely had to state that your videos are amongst the most structured, comprehensible and well presented art videos I've seen on the internet. I've seen paid art videos which you easily put to shame. Thank you for all your hard work.
What's just happening right now happens very rarely for me. I'm pausing the video halfway in to simply say thank you for this content and this extremely well put together, informative and funny video.
Oh, my, this is gold. Such important concepts and yet we barely hear anyone mention them. They would usually say "yeah, composition is important, study composition, push your composition, play with the focal point" yet there are no clear explanations on what you should actually do and think about. Thank you so much for these, Marco, I can't wait to see more on this topic.
Yeah, this could've been useful for me a while back lol In fact, it's still is useful to me even though I finally learned about good composition fairly recently.
Marco, I'm gonna be honest man. I've seen many, many art teachings on TH-cam. You've got to be one of the top 3 best teachers I've seen thus far. You have an amazing way of teaching complex art to its simplest form, especially to a novice such as myself. It comes really natural to you and you seem to really enjoy it. Even though it still requires many, many hours to practice in theory you make it not so intimidating to a novice such as myself, but rather, a reason to explore, be free and most of all, have fun! Thank you:)
It's wonderful how you can, in just 10 minutes deliver so much cohesive, fun, useful and important concepts of visual language, that expensive painting courses don't even mention. Thankyou, Marco, You are AMAZING!
Dear Sir, once again I would like to make English closed caption and Vietnamese subtitle for your video. Could you kindly allow that? I love your series!
Hi Quang, nice to hear from you again! Yes, I'd love if you did that for this video as well. I've enabled the option. Thank you very much for your time!
Hi . i think your workflow for painting is using only one layer ,if yes - how does it affect your workflow because i saw many variations of the same paintings on your website ?
The reason why this series gives me so much confidence is because at some level we have been doing these things and we recognize them when we see them done well (by we, I mean, artists). This is just bringing those things to light. This does not require us to do something drastic or completely change the way we do things and yet it does. I mean, we don't have to readjust our techniques or anything, we have to readjust how we think about things and that makes a drastic improvement. Also, this can be applied to any medium of painting, any genre with equal ease and effectiveness. This is awesome.
I've read and seen countless books, blogs, videos on composition. You've hit the points that I wish someone would address. You have explained design elements WAAAAY better than most "composition" books or videos. What's more is your storytelling technique in doing so puts your videos a few notches above theirs! Great job and thank you!
Wow, those new videos are killer. Entertaining, informative and subjects that aren't covered a lot, even though I feel like I've watched nearly every art video on youtube :D Thank you and keep it up!
Your tutorials are very well made and still hold up really well years later. You make everything less intimidating and more fun to do, making me more interested/motivated to try out these new concepts! Thank you for the quality content we artists don't see much here on youtube
This has been so useful, thank you for posting the tutorials. I realised recently that the work that fails for me is always things I over complicate and don't compose before hand, I think the idea will come to me fully as I go along when in fact it's so much more important to spend time preparing, and not wasting time banging your head on the desk because it hasn't worked. Very well explained and great advise for digital and traditional artists alike!
I find your videos very educating for young artists like me. Your 10 minutes to better painting videos are doing a good job at simplifying needs of art and I appreciate your hard work for making these.
Sir, I have to say that you have got some of the best knowledge and advice regarding art. The way you present those information in the simplest way is really great. Lots of art tutorials have technical as well as aesthetic info behind them to get better in art but that is simply not enough when it comes to execution as it always feels something to be missing. The subtle references you have put forward have really made me understand paintings better.
Amzing videoseries! As someone who studies mechanical engineering I ve had the impression that most art videos(tutorials) are like: "hm yea lets take a bit of that and change the hue of that and now it looks much better". Your videos on the other hand show a clear structure and reasoning why certain things are done and how they work and also why the human body reacts to them. Thank you!
New subscriber. This series is just brilliantly put-together, no idea why YT hasn't recommended your work before now. Such high quality lessons; thank you (& I do love that you spell 'colour' properly LOL).
The value here is hard for me to comprehend. To share this kind of insights and knowledge but still keep it entertaining and professional, which ends up improving the learning? I am used to having to drill information into my brain. This is so much easier, and I get so much out of this. Thank you.
Everyone in the comments saying this video was amazing gave me high hopes. I was not disappointed; this is amazing. I never comment on videos, but I just thought I would this time to say how informative and truly helpful this one was! :) Thank you!
Outstanding! All of ur 10 min to Better Painting uploads r absolutely perfect: quality information, reliable facts pertaining to academic structures & theories instead of opinions, & a remarkable flow.....knowing exactly how to highlight the most prudent information & direction. I have logged 1000’s of hours dedicated to learning art & painting. My opinion of ur contribution comes after many enjoyable lessons & some not so enjoyable to compare these to. I want to say thank u & wish u the best. With out people as urself, the internet would b full of useful but boring information. Stay well!! Happy painting....
My eyes started watering when you said that Prague (the city where I live) is beautiful and one of your favorites. I love your videos, they help me a lot, thank you so much!
I like this piece. The most interesting part to me is that at 6:05, you can stop it and have a decent sketch with slight highlights on the buildings. I also notice that the trees and building roofs are done with the same round brush. Cool
I wish I had an amazing teacher like you back then in my art school, but what I've had was pushing me to get lost in modern-comtem shits things and graduated with a confusing way to paint. I appreciated all your effort on these contents it's worth my time that those years.
I agree with the earlier comments regarding your videos- they are very well done! For me, an intermediate-level artist, I greatly appreciate your explanation of foundational concepts. Thank you.
When you feel so good because you have been using these things without realizing it. I have been using c-curves, the contrast between activity and hue shifts in paintings without realising I was doing that. And I noticed the paintings I used them in looked better than others and I kept doing more and more of that. Recently, texture has been a favourite of mine, too, even though I did not realize that is what was making the difference. Why this 10-minute info could not have been communicated to me in years of art classes, I fail to understand. There are so many videos (or series of videos) that claim to actually help you improve your painting by some miraculous trick. However, till date, this is the only one that has delivered on it. Also, not only will it help me improve my painting, it has given me confidence to try new things to paint. I mostly paint nature - landscapes, seascapes, cloudscapes, animals, birds, flowers, insects, underwater etc. At most I will paint some still life (that too, if it captures my fancy) or objects like boats etc surrounded by nature. I have been terrified of urban paintings and paintings with too many people. This series has given me confidence that I can at least try to approach them without losing my mind. And that is saying a lot because I am a stubborn brat.
This got to be the most hilarious and helpful art video I've ever seen. The production quality of this alone is amazing, AND it's really good info. Dude, more pls.
You've become a very good teacher man, i really appreciate your videos. Even if I already sort of knew all these things you talk about in the video separately, I never connected any dots between them and you helped me do that.
Thanks! I agree - I find that's kind of the nature of getting better at art. The concepts are actually very simple, intellectually. It's the ability to deeply link one to the next - and then apply that thinking to your own work - that takes time. Glad these videos can help connect those dots.
You are definitely one of the best teachers out there man. Thank you so much for putting all this effort. I always come back here to watch it and fresh out and reemphasize the concepts
This is fantastic, enlightening and overwhelming. Thank you for taking the time to make this. I will have to watch it MANY times to really absorb your lesson!
I have no word to say how much I appreciate your work, Marco, and that's a problem as an artist AND as a human being...! so maybe I'll go paint something trying to use what I've learned today. I don't know why, but I liked the most the abstract part explaining contrast. thank you and keep going
I recently found your channel and i can only say thank you, your videos have teach me so much, and I have finally star to enjoy painting thanks to that
Thank you for these! I just got your book in the mail a few days ago and have already suggested it to several of my artist friends. :) Thank you for all you do!!
I absolutely love your videos, they're quick, engaging and well structured! You're good at teaching and I'm excited to watch and learn more :) thankssss
These lessons are so much 1000xs better than most of the video tutorials out there, so why oh why aren't they more popular. TH-cam artists just do not know how to appreciate a good lesson.
You're touching very basic stuff here but the simplicity and the practical way you put them down is priceless. So bad I'm still fighting my stigma to let the expression and emotion speak naturally. Though I'm almost there I feel, thanks for your speeches!
And this is why there are many good young artists. They have more sources like these in the Internet to help them. Unlike people who grew up without internet.
You are absolutely brilliant, mate. Quality information regarding the rudiments of composition communicated in a most informative and simple way. Bravo!
Thank you so much, i cannot afford art school that is why i rely on TH-cam tutorials since it's free! Gonna grab the chance! Two episodes in your series, i finally carved in my mind the importance of simplification! Also, i had fun learning💗
So after watching this video, my message became very clear. Thank you for these precious lessons. I only watched a few, but I had to stop and say that.
Thank you so much for making this video, it provides such a concise description into composition, contrast and focal points, which I feel are aspects of painting that I am still muddling around.
I finally understand why I wasn't able to paint a decent picture of a cat ! Thank you so much for sharing your secrets... But seriously, the quality of your videos is amazing and I wish there was more content like this featured on TH-cam ! Have a nice day !
Wow! Great content here in this series Marco. I love it. Please keep it coming. The way you present the lessons is very interesting. You are truly a great teacher.
Love the videos. As an older artist who has had a little recognition, I am rediscovering my humility as I see what younger artists are doing. That said...you didn’t say a word about that cluster of “these baguettes” at 1.40 looking front-and-center like a huge menacing hanging junk package! ...just MY mind...but THAT might be the important subliminal message of the painting...
I am very disappointed at how ridiculous videos are getting more views and such a GOLD MINE doesn't! Although I studied Art in college I find a lot of refreshing and new content in your videos thank you so much .. so much respect!!!! You deserve all the best I swear!
Im not sure what your doing with your life but if your not teaching Art somewhere ,the world looses.....Dude your an amazing artist and teacher and these video's are so great......everyone should watch them ,whether they do art (yet...) or not

lots of information I have gathered from this video and i am sure this will develop my visual language....... DFCM love this method. waiting for the next one
Amazing video and aaaaa you love Prague! I live in Prague and I agree, it's amazing city! Anyway, you taught me everything I needed to know just in 10 minutes. AMAZING videos! Thank you!!!
Unfortunately not, that's the sad thing. I started to paint again just few weeks ago and still trying to figure out how to get better as I am bad with painting interiors and exteriors. So that's the reason why I was brought to your channel and it helped a lot. So with a little bit of practice, hopefully soon I will come out to paint! Thank you for making those videos! Life savers!
Thank you so much for this series! Your videos are so well put-together, narrated and educational. I'm in awe and I'm getting out my Wacom right now to paint something.
You have the most mind brightening tutorials on the internet
thanks a lot!
Indeed, he helps me understand principles alot better .
Indeed my mind has been quite brightened

TheDesertHamster i agree absolutely. And how thankful I am having discovered this.
Indeed I agree. so much clear information in 10 minutes. Thanks for your great work.
I can't thumb up your comment enough.

Thanks Victor, that's my goal, and more of the same coming up in Episode 3 next week.
Hey guys - Episode 3 will be out in roughly a month from now!

I have just begun tryning to learn how to draw, and I learn a lot from you. So thank you!

Damn, whoever put effort to subtitled this video to Vietnamese, thank you very very much

This is the best tutorial series I have seen on youtube!
Bloody fantastic video, laid these concepts out rapid-fire with acute accuracy.

Amazing video and aaaaa you love Prague! I live in Prague and I agree, it's amazing city! Anyway, you taught me everything I needed to know just in 10 minutes. AMAZING videos! Thank you!!!
Thanks for watching :) Awesome that you live in Prague! Hope you're out there painting it :)
