Bounced over from Nik The Booksmith. This is hot glue / cardboard / joint compound magic! All the little details of hanging herbs and tufted cushions. SO COOL! Your sweet dog is an added bonus. :-)
I absolutely love the doors and the drapes. For people that don't have alcohol markers, you can find wood stain markers meant to fix scratches on wood at the dollar tree.
I live in Utah now, where we have " The Best Snow on Earth", but the most snow I ever saw in one night was when I lived in Amarillo, Tx. Thirty eight inches in one night outside my door. The worst blizzard I ever had to drive through ,was in Oklahoma City just a few years ago. We know how to handle snow in Utah, unlike Texas and Oklahoma. I feel your pain and hope things warm up for you soon. The cardboard house and everything in it is just brilliant. I wish I could live there, in a forrest, with no snow .
I have heard it is because the land is so flat that it causes the storms to be worse. I am not sure if that's true though. I am so glad you like the house! Thank you Jenny!
This is my current favorite project of yours because it's very accessible. I can get ahold of free cardboard boxes any time I go to the grocery store, hot glue is cheap at Walmart, and the other supplies you use are cheap enough as well I want to try all the stuff you show us! Love the style of the house too.
I love your videos of the cardboard house. It's actually gettimg me to think about making a trolls doll house that looks like a giant gord for my daughter. She loves trolls and little dolls. ❤
I love your little dog. Seems like he wants you to stop waving your hands and give him more affection. Lol. He's a waiting. Such a cutie. I agree on the point about the windows, even though I wouldn't have necessarily thought of it. At most, I'd for shutters, b/c they've been around for much longer and they bring a certain charm. Love the little house, especially the bedroom linens. So cozy and sweet.
She definitely wants my full attention all the time lol! That's why she tends to sit in my lap while I am filming... she can't understand why I would be talking to anyone besides her😄 Shutters are a great idea as well... could prob make them similar to the way the doors were made👍
Hope you get this. My heart goes out to you *Texans* I lived there for 15 years and yes, we had some really bad weather, Ice Storms etc. but nothing like what you are going thru now. Stay safe!
Amazing results! I really laughed at your Public Service Announcement! Don't steal or vandalize Grandma's drapes! I live in Kalifornia so EVERYTHING comes with a warning label! I'm glad you touched on test fitting and I would even recommend more of it. It's just amazing how often I make a pattern that somehow has no visible relationship to the actual space I'm trying to fill!
Lol! I know there are a few younger viewers to my channel and so I wanted to make sure they get their supplies from the right places and I don't get any upset parent emails! I probably should show dry fitting more often in my videos... I do it a lot to make sure things are right ;)
I also look forward to Ara Fridays! I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this cardboard creation series - so much that I made my own! I really struggled with the doors and since I plan on making another one, this tutorial is very helpful! Thanks Ara!!! And the cushions!!! Excellent cushions!! That fairy doesn't know how lucky she is!!! LOL
I was so happy to hear you say you wasn’t finished with cardboard.. I love using things around the house to do my Projects with. But hope you have electric, and are staying warm an safe. Sending you Your prayers!
I side card stock. Other side cardboard. Cut window out. Piece of clear plastic from a 2L in between. Glue all together. Elmers glue+water 50/50. Dip strips of paper towel in glue mix. Add to door. Make wrinkles so when painted it looks like wood.
No idea why but youtube sent the channel down to the bottom of my subs. Thankfully I thought to check in. I thought it was weird. I love this series and its inspired me so much. Thank you greatly for it.
All I could think about when I was watching you making those doors was how perfect they would be for a booknook. Now I want to make a booknook so that I can make these kind of doors. :}
I just wanted to prettify my chicken coop's door.. and found ur chanel.. oml.. I wish I had ur talent and steal some ideas :3 very nice work! Thanks for that eyecandy!
I love this project, the doors and the curtains so cute and well done ... , for us here it is a t -9 c and 5 feet of snow it is the normal... stay warm the sun will shin again. 🥶😎
This fairy house has been a really fun journey :) I love all the fun angles, all the small details, and of course, the dragon and the fairy herself :D 💜🤍💜 A bit sad that it´s coming to an end, but at the same time, happy to see it all coming together and being finished :) Amazing work, as always :) and THANK YOU for spreading lighthearted joy throughout this harsh times 💜🤍💜
Thank you so much for sharing. I am currently attempting my second cardboard dollhouse. I did the first before I discovered your channel and for this house, I'm using a lot of your techniques.
Shutters would be very FairyTale-esk too. You can also make braid rugs by using embroidery thread braiding it and either gluing or handsewing it together.
First off, I love your nail color in this episode! Also, I love this project! It's so cute and fun and whimsical. Those doors and curtains look so amazing!
This tutorial couldn't have happened at a better time! I was trying to figure out how to make and install doors in my cardboard house! This is an awesome video; thank you!
This has turned out to be so so charming! Thoughts and prayers are with you all, hoping y'all keep warm and safe and things get thawed out enough to be repaired very soon!
Thank you! We are doing good and some of the ice and snow is starting to melt today! I am sure as soon as we can get trucks and repair vehicles down the road we will be on the way ;)
I just love the details with the doors and windows! My absolute favorite is the cushions for the window seats❤️ Great job!!! Glad to see you are doing okay with the crazy winter weather. Thanks for the video😊
Love the doors & the hinge idea .. I think I will make a similar structure with the interior walls straight & add a slant to the exterior walls only so the doors will be slightly recessed, hang straight & probably easier to open. .. You did a very nice job on the exterior of the house . . The window seats add a cozy feel ... love the adorable visitor at the end . . .
I think the house is so cozy! It turned out great! I need to do the last minute touches to Granny's y and send you a photo. It will be nothing close to your work Ara! I am so glad I discovered your chat and that you love what you do. It shows in your work!
Yay.. I was so excited to see this today. I finally got to watch it. I have been waiting all day and night for a quiet moment to get to sit and watch this through. I was expecting doors.. I had no idea you added all the little extra bits. Love the window seats, and the drapes.. and the doors too, of course.. Thanks so much for sharing. I haven't made a cardboard house yet, but it's on my list.. My very very long list of things I want to make. Hope things are getting better in your neck of the woods. Stay warm and safe!!
Also, you can use popsicle sticks too. Use watered down brown acrylic to stain the sticks. I sometimes use rubber jar lid grippers to use as a hinge. Just attach pieces at the top and bottom of the door and then on the house to make an easy hinge.
Looks amazing, I love your cardboard house. Those rotary cutters scare me too. I once accidentally pushed the blade up into my thumb. Definitely more careful with them now
The very first video of yours i saw was the first cardboard video. I wasn't so sure the wonky would work but I'm happy to say I was wrong. I hope she has a story.

I was always meaning to say but never got around to it...so I will tell you now, the thin foam sheets used for packing is good for upholstering things that dont need to be really cushioned and I always save it for this...you know the white foam sheet stuff? I hope you are safe and not half frozen as I have been seeing some terrible news about your unusual weather (its fairly run of the mill for me as I am Scottish. We dont get it very cold here in London though!) I really love the window seats and doors and feel that I can maybe tackle the drapes in my projects now too!
Yeah, rotart cutters are scary. I used to work at a quilt shop and when I finished my shift and started heading home, the coworker who was working the evening shift called me and told me that she cut her finger with one of those and asked me to come watch the store. Thank you for coming over! Welcome to the channel!😊
I absolutely love the doors and the drapes. For people that don't have alcohol markers, you can find wood stain markers meant to fix scratches on wood at the dollar tree.
Great tip! Thanks Edwina!
I’m gagged that this is all cardboard. Who says you need money to make something fabulous. Your creativity is so inspiring ❤️
You should see what can be done with just layers of paper and glue.
Thank you!
I can't believe how you can build such beautiful things for so cheap,I wish I had seen these before I spent money on wood kits ,
LOVE LOVE LOVE THE DOORS

Thank you so much 😃
Omg this is genius and just what I needed! Thank you!
Hurrah for the cardboard house!
Very nice work, I like the addition of moss on the door, good detail.
I love your videos of the cardboard house. It's actually gettimg me to think about making a trolls doll house that looks like a giant gord for my daughter. She loves trolls and little dolls. ❤
Oh that sounds amazing! I hope you have so much fun building it!
A laugh for the day.I have the same drapes hanging on my bedroom windows now.they are over 20 years old.time to change them.😂
😄 I actually think they are really pretty! But I got them for crafting so they are fulfilling their purpose ;)
I absolutely love your videos! So creative and easy to follow! You are very much appreciated!
Your houses need to be displayed in a museum.
😊💖

I LOVE this house!!! It’s like the fairy godmother’s house that Cinderella went to for tea!!!
Loving the look of the cushions and curtains! Stay warm! Central Kentucky is under a layer of ice and snow! 💜
Stay safe Alisa!

Yay I am so glad it will be helpful to you in your own cardboard build!
You are wonderful. What an imagination
Wow the doors are insanely good looking! Mine would look like cardboard. 👌🏼
You did quite a lot of finishing work today. I have to agree I don't think there is much room to add any more. It looks great.
Thanks so much Debbra! 😊
I was so happy to hear you say you wasn’t finished with cardboard.. I love using things around the house to do my Projects with. But hope you have electric, and are staying warm an safe. Sending you Your prayers!

Excellent ! I like the doors and so happy that other card board stufs are coming ! 😉
Me too!! It will hopefully be something different with a whole other set of furniture and accessories!
Wow!!! You are so creative! I love it!
Damn that looks cool.
Your hands are too clever, this is so handsome

Great creative door design. Very cool! 😎
Cardboard is so versatile. And best of all, inexpensive and plentiful.
You're an inspiration as always. ❤️
Thank you Darnelle! I feel like cardboard boxes multiply sometimes... which means more supplies for me! lol!
I always live to watch what you come up with. This was so good with odd shape doors and as always you make it look so easy
Thanks so much Denise 😊
Wow, really looking good 👍🥰
Thank you 😊

good morning Bentley, I was breaking my head to make a door to my dollhouse, great idea. thanks

love love it!! got a lot of tips! thank you so much for all your excellent advise. Greetings from sunny and hot South Africa
Thank you Wanda! I lived in George, South Africa when I was younger💖 It was beautiful!
that is beautiful, you could do a garden roof :)

Stay safe in Texas!! ☺️
I'm amazed with what you do,
Thank you!! So glad you like the video!
i still think a stone wishing well would be cute. you could use an empty tape roll for a base. now i want to make a stone wishing well. lol
YAY! VERY NICE!!
Beautiful
Brilliant love all ur work
Great idea!
I love those double doors! I doubt if I could make them AND have them fit, but they would be awesome in a Hobbit house!
You can totally do it Billie! Thank you😊
So creative ❤️I love the cardboard house
Amazing as usual; love those doors! Thank you!
Thank you Elaine!
Looks amazing, I love your cardboard house. Those rotary cutters scare me too. I once accidentally pushed the blade up into my thumb. Definitely more careful with them now
Ouch!!! Yes they get put in a locked place and only come out for a very short time!
So very lovely.
The very first video of yours i saw was the first cardboard video. I wasn't so sure the wonky would work but I'm happy to say I was wrong. I hope she has a story.
So glad you liked the video and welcome to the channel! I do hope to write a story for this project!💖
For realistic nonfantasy houses, add a diagonal brace so it looks like a Z. It prevents sagging.
wonderful!
Hi Ara, have you ever thought about making a mid century house with furniture? I would like to see that project. I bet it would be beautiful.
I will be making a lot of 60's and 70's furniture for my Fairfield but it would be a fun idea to make something from cardboard in that style!
such a great job,as usual ;)
Thank you so much Kat! 😀
Stormy got a haircut!
She did! I wish I had known we were going to have storm-a-gheddon before she got her hair cut! I am sure she would have appreciated the extra bulk this week... we just made sure to give her lots of blankets and snuggles to stay warm!😊
Great tip on the foam! Yes the weather has been crazy. Things are starting to warm up and melt today! Yay!
Top notch as always :) love watching your creativeness, I don't know about you but I'm struggling where to put all the things I make lol :)
Haha yes I have the same problem!
Yeah, rotart cutters are scary. I used to work at a quilt shop and when I finished my shift and started heading home, the coworker who was working the evening shift called me and told me that she cut her finger with one of those and asked me to come watch the store. I had to clean up all the blood while her husband took her to the emergency room 😬
Always. ALWAYS. *ALWAYS* be very cautious when using a rotary cuter
Yikes! So many rotary cutter horror stories... I have a family member who had to go to the hospital. They are so scary!
If you want just plain drapes, give old pantyhose a try, I used them in a project where I re-costumed a 76cm Bratz doll.
Interesting idea!
A-door-able!
Sorry couldn’t help myself lol
😄😄
💜💜💜
I wish I'd heard of coffee stirrer sticks before they banned single use plastic straws and stirrers here in the UK.
If you happen to know someone who's into tech, ask them if they have any old compressed air can tubes, they're very similar! I collect them because you never know when they'll come in handy so you might be in luck!
I wonder if they may have a paper version instead you could use? Reusing the compressed air tubes is a great suggestion too!
In England 'chipboard 'is very different. It's a panel made from wood chips and is very thick and heavy. Similar to a plank of wood. I laugh every time you say you're using chipboard😃
You are so creative. I build a wooden house from a kit and for the life of me I cannot get it to look worth anything. I'm almost ready to trash it!😠
You could always make it into an abandoned project if you are getting frustrated with trying to get it perfect. Abandoned projects can be super fun... I had so much fun make a mess in my Abandoned Coffee Shop!
