Bang on, it is absolutely the what if that makes it so bad, it has it's own flaws but as an isolated project although not great it certainly wasn't terrible it was just disappointing
The script's general bullet points look like it could have been a great disaster movie, but the fact is it's not a Jurassic Park movie. It's an environmentalist hippie movie with dinosaur chases.
Just like rings of power the Jurassic world team just tries to push a social agenda and we should all boycott this terrible recent tradition of fake “wokeness”
Dominion is definitely a good example of too many cooks in the kitchen...or in this case to many writers for the movie. More does not always mean better.
I personally didn't mind the Locust subplot,I just didn't like the execution. Because it seems like Biosyn released them in accident, but Dodgeson claims that it's for control. I didn't really like that. If I were to rewrite it, I'd make it simple: Biosyn engineered them as the ultimate pest to test out their pest resistant crops, and they broke out,and the reason they are hush hush about it is to avoid bad publicity. Simple as that.
I liked the locust subplot because it, not perfectly, gave the themes of biological engineering and mans interactions with nature that were present in the micheal crichton novels.
When I heard about the old cast and new cast meeting in JW: Dominion, I had this scene in my head where Owen Grady and Alan Grant argue about their different viewpoints regarding raptors. Owen would argue in favor because of his connection with Blue while Alan, who could be reliving the trauma he endured in Jurassic Park and JP 3, argues against them, using the same words he used on that kid in the first movie about the raptors' hunting patterns. About how it was companies like InGen and BioSyn that made the world a mess. Even Ian could back up, but be neutral by reminding them both that "Life finds a way." My point is I was really looking forward to an argument between Owen and Alan and was disappointed.
Yeah I know, I was waiting for that scene the whole time i was watching the film and the fact that they didn't include that just shows how lay they were when producing this one.
There's an episode of Lego Jurassic World: Legend of Isla Nublar that does exactly that. Also, Ian would not be neutral. He would definitely agree with Alan.
Dominion is truly one of the worst movies ever made... It's the only movie where I actually considered leaving the theatre because I was not having a good time at all! I didn't even feel any excitement of hype from the trailers and stuff, it all gave off very lame vibes, and I guess there was a reason for that. The legacy characters didn't even feel or act like their old selves, they were not the same characters at all! And they again thought it was a good idea to downplay the T-Rex and have it be overpowered and defeated multiple times by another overhyped carnivore. This was just NOT Jurassic Park.
They VERY often make the mistake with legacy characters, that they let the actors play themselves. And then they give them some wink-wink-scenes for the fandom audience. But they almost NEVER really seem to look into „what really was the CHARACTER“ and „what could’ve been an interesting and logical lief they have lived in the last 2 decades?“
I feel like Dominion suffered from the classic case of not knowing who they wanted the target audience to be. The saying "if you try to make something for everyone, you'll make it for no one" rang a bell for me on this movie. It felt like for the most part the studio was trying to make JW more appealing to kids by jam packing more dinosaur scenes - even if they made no sense - and amping up the cute-ification by putting baby dinosaurs in it with the cast babying them far long than they need to. For their older fans, they got cheap nostalgia scraps. The problem with trying to appeal too much to kids is things start feeling neutered and watered down. Not to mention people tend to forget how flaky younger kids are, they have low attention spans and their interests are constantly changing. And while Dominion raked in a big box office number, the critical reception didn't align with it. It was only financially successful because Jurassic Park/ World is a household name, and it sold people the gimmick of the legacy cast. You can only chase kids as an audience for so long until your core fanbase gives up and realizes they're being insulted and ripped off.
I think we should make a tier list video of how you rank all the canon Jurassic Park stuff. The movies , novels, evolution of Claire and Maisie Lockwood books. short films and TV shows, but I would wait until after rebirth comes out. have a blessed day:)
Nice Video of the Troubled Production of Jurassic World Rebirth and nice points you’ve made about the good, the bad and the ugly of the troubled production of Jurassic World Rebirth and I hope it turned out okay. Great work Klayton Fioriti and as always, Take It Easy and Life Finds A Way.
I could listen to people talk trash about Dominion all day. And honestly, it's warranted. Camp Cretaceous was popular because it did its own thing for KIDS. Setting up a plot about dinosaurs roaming the world was 100% the way to go. They could've done two movies about it becoming a worse and worse problem, and a third about the DX virus killing them all out, becoming both a problem and a solution for humanity. I've commented this on your videos before, and it STILL boggles my mind that they set up such a cool plot for the future and then completely just disregarded it as if it never happened. If Rebirth is just the same old meme format of people on the islands again with 12 year olds with plot armor that can outrun and outsmart history's most dangerous predators, it's going to be soooooooooo boring and lose all suspense.
You know damn well that they'll wind up doing JUST THAT. Keep the damn kids out of the movie, or at least make them SOMEWHAT likable. Masie? Insufferable. Lex and Tim? They're ok. No more plot armor. Keep the suspense and dark tones, don't let it be kid friendly. But they will.
@@lewisdogdson416 Yeah, just finished watching Season 2 and they were killing it. I wish the Hippo vs Suchomimus fight was longer, but everything we did get from that sequence was incredible. When a hippo scares a group of Sauropods, you know he means business.
I don't hate Dominion, but yeah, I do wish is was a lot darker and more consistent with Fallen Kingdom. Fallen Kingdom being my personal favorite sequel.
Dominion was like getting slapped in the face after getting dumped and kicked in the balls. Not 2 minutes into the film, we get 50% of the Mosasaur appearance. AND some major writing contrivance. You're telling me the CEO of Biosyn went HIMSELF to meet Dennis Nedry in Jurassic Park and actually did have a genuine reason for his name not to be shouted out loud? WHY IS THE CEO GOING HIMSELF TO COMMIT CORPORATE ESPIONAGE? And the fucking Locust plot line and Dr. Wu NOT DYING is absolutely an insult to the fans and every victim throughout the franchise
@Bagelgeuse looking it up, it does say he was in different positions. But the films don't tell us that. Only Dominion tells us his position. So, i can accept it i guess. But it is a film contrivance. But even more, I hate how they portrayed him in Dominion. Like what was that freak out where he flailed his arms around? It really feels like they purposely made that character shit because of what the original actor did
@@blueeyedemon8 I agree that it's contrived. Maybe it would've been fixed had Dodgson and Biosyn been relevant to the story beyond the first film (in other words, if the first two movies were more faithful to the source material), But they weren't so I guess they were screwed from the start. His portrayal in Dominion is absolutely awful though. Even without knowing about his novel counterpart, Dodgson feels more like another employee than the CEO of Biosyn, much less an actual villain. The rage quit towards the end would've turned him into a joke if he wasn't one already. In fact, the only reaction his portrayal by Campbell Scott got out of me was a chuckle at the soulless delivery of "No, no no no no" when the hyperlube shuts down on him.
@@Bagelgeuse Biosyn wasn't even name dropped in the original film iirc. All the information we get about him is purely gleaned from the novels and in that regard he definitely wouldn't have been CEO but more of a counterpart to Henry Wu in InGen's heirarchy.
Great video going over all the production issues with dominion I got a feeling after with all the rewrites and production issues I am glad they got David koepp back to write rebirth.
@@just_delightfulBecause his Jurassic park stuff was good, both jp1 and jp TLW were goated and he knows how to make a scary dinosaur movie, so that's why people are hyped for him, plus there's still a LOT of unused content from the books
"Took a swing with the locust plot and it didn't hit" That's the biggest understatement ever. Dude who wrote that plot brought a baseball bat to a game of soccer and was surprised the crowd boo'd.
I think it's unfair to blame fallen Kingdom and camp cretaceous for dominions troubled production Because their both soo much darker than dominion Fallen Kingdom is a severely underated movie and I believe the only reason why people are turning on it is because their blaming it on jurassic world dominions more marvel like humour Camp cretaceous is an amazing show with extremely strong character development and intense dinosaur action As well as great ideas introduced to the lore I mean the whole plot of season 3 was the Scorpios rex causing havoc on isla nublar And whipping out entire herds of Dinosaurs So yah Covid was the true cause They probably wanted to make it a darker movie But Because they were in desperate need for money because of their already expensive productions and people still getting used to going to the theatre So the rewrote the whole plot to just be a kid friendly film with nostalgic moments for the adults Which was in the wrong direction and was so poorly received that They had to make Chaos theory to make up for the jurassic movie we wanted But I hate how jurassic world rebirth is also agnoring the movie we want just for the sake of another island movie The fact that dinosaurs arnt even world wide anymore just make all the world building that had been set up since jurassic world fallen Kingdom Just thrown out the window JUST MAKE A DX DISEASES MOVIE have the movie still focused in a world where dinosaurs are worldwide and are becoming such a problem that the government has tried to create a virus to whip them out But instead of killing off the dinosaurs It's spreading to humans while the dinosaurs continue to spread while the humans die off Just like in planet of the apes I dont want an alien romulus rip off
Sure the film had other problems, but trying to make decisions on making a movie during a pandemic is a completely valid reason. Godzilla vs Kong and The Suicide Squad were also made at that time and each had their own results. I personally think The Suicide Squad is underrated and deserves its flowers and I was happy that it made up for the last one.
Colin Trevorrow is a terrible writer. He hired Emily Carmichael who is a worse writer. Colin should have let someone else write and direct. He is better as a producer. Also, Colin wanted to turn a sci fi horror franchise into an action adventure. It was all just not good. So many issues. It was a bummer to sit through that in the theater because JP is my all time fav movie
are you insinuating that Colin Trevorrow is the kind of man who never should have been allowed to become a screenwriter or a film director and Spielberg has lost his producer's touch
You have not mentioned, that at the very beginning of the movie pre-production the plan was to have two connected movies, like Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. In the end they merged those two into one which explains the amount of things shoehorned into movie.
They knew what they had 1 year in advance and still released it. Battlefield 2042 was told after the closed and open beta that it wasn't ready and came out to flop. Independent of everything that had happened along the way they shouldn't have been surprised by the negative reception. Nostalgia can only cover so many cracks.
Since Jurassic 3 the tone is the same. Even the Giganotosaurus at Night with Fire has the same cinematography as Jurassic 3, the same light-up and everything. Klayton is always saying that Fallen Kingdom was darker and less kid-friendly... at the same time, we have the stampede scene with the Volcano exploding in the back as the characters conveniently walk into each other as everything happens... Then a double dinosaur fight, then the cliff and Marvel-Hero Owen, pulling some Legolas moves... and everything happens in like 5 minutes. The thing is that ¨darker tone¨ is not just ¨less light¨... It needs to be a more realistic build-up and chain of events. And it all good if people like action-packed, but... yeah is it is what it is. And this new one feels like is going to rely on the Jurassic 3 style even more.
@@dandino8100 The argument is not about which movie people have more nostalgia, is about the fact that since ¨JP3¨ all the movies have that kid-friendly over-the-top action tone. Whether you like that kind of movie or not is to everyone's taste, but objectively there's no argument about JP3 setting the current kid-friendly over-the-top action tone of the franchise. Facts.
@@chazchaz2121 Feels like some people at the top of the development chain don't trust the material. They keep thinking that dinosaurs are for kids and keep making the stupidest possible things under that premise. They did the exact same thing with superhero movies for decades (sony is still at it) and videogame movies. These things happen when the people pushing for the movies severely misunderstand the nature of the material they have in their hands.
@@Alfonso88279 Agreed, maybe is because the content for kids is not as hard to write. Kids (and kid-minded people) will believe anything if you say it with fancy words, even if it doesn't make any sense as long as they show some ¨dino-battles¨. Like, the plot of ReBirth literally says ¨dinos¨... so, Yeah seems to me it´s going to be Jurassic 3 tone yet again
there were so many good concepts in the movies it's a shame, dinosaurs on the mainland? awesome, trapped with a baryonyx? great, Indominus Rex? creepy cool, trained raptors etc I just wish the main plots were better
What this tells me is that, had the timing worked out for it, there was a very real possibility that we could have had B.R.A.D.-X robots in Dominion. Think about that.
It could have been great, yet there was so many loose ends and random things happening just to have more dinosaurs (who were only on screen for about 5 seconds). Dominion should have been like Battle at Big Rock.
Pratt saying this movie will be the "Endgame" of the Jurassic park franchise just showing to me how he and probably many people in the production cast didn't understood the type of franchise they were working with. That's sad.
@BradSnowslett well that is one way to look at it, as the way I see it and I believe many more, there could be so much depth to the plot of jurassic world franchise, if they are stating this movies are suppose to be fun and light than it is nothing like what this material supposed to be, doesn't mean it is wrong, it's just mean they made it something else than what it is
Dominion definitely wasn’t the worst thing, but it wasn’t anywhere beyond mediocre imo, it does concern me though that my opinion seems to be pretty rare, it’s usually one extreme or the other, people hate it or love…..also it feels weird people hate it from the locust cause I feel like it’s the only thing that actually keeps it in line with the jw/jp theme of taking things to far genetically and the biblical aspect, only sad they didn’t do more with it
I think the issue about the locusts was that they took large part of the plot's focus (in a dinosaur-focused movie) in a mainline chapter that was mainly meant to be the beginning of dinosaurs spreading worldwide As my review goes, the story was good and would've been nice to see in a sort of sub-movie, but definitely not the right one for this movie.
This information explains a lot about Dominion but I feel that a core issue with the writing is that they seem to be reluctant to making the dinosaurs look bad, except for one dinosaur that has no real impact on the plot. Nothing on how their presence is affecting world's ecosystems, their effects on existing flora and fauna etc, just their relationship with humans. And the worse part, for me, is that it is all "resolved" with the message of "Can't we just get along?" at the end of the movie. I get that writing a more complex, nuanced situation is not easy and I wouldn't claim that it would be a better synopsis in the end but at least there would have been some effort at making the dinosaurs more than just scenery and fights.
Great video! Insightful & informative! Pretty on point observations with its shortcomings, didn’t know camp Cretaceous had such an impact. Ugh the locust!
We shot Avatar 2 and 3 here in New Zealand with basically no down time during COVID since NZ didn’t have any cases at all in the beginning. All the actors and any other crew coming into NZ had to quarantine for a few weeks, and we had to deal with all the “bubble” stuff too, but thankfully no one got sick!
Great video it's a shame about the production 😞 of Jurassic World Dominion, It's not a God awful movie it does have it's moments. I think they should've stopped production and when they resumed they should've sat down together and gotten into an agreement on what the movie should have been.
I don't think it was perfect but I had a good time with it. Although, I never really understood the hate about the locust subplot. It lines up directly with the Jurassic series' whole ethos of corporate greed and irresponsible use of science.
I liked Falling kingdom too. Seeing the Dinosaurs who did not make it on the boat made me sad. The horror stuff was somewhat scary. Apparently the old lady who took care of the little girl was supposed to die. Dominions original opening was so much better than the one that they used in the actual film.
My problem with Dominion.. Too much emphasis on Locust and human cloning nonsense, they sidelined the dinosaurs, so many random characters, cringey fan service
Ultimately it felt like a 2hr commercial for dinosaur toys. It lacked flow, too many scenes stitched together rather than a natural progression of a core story arc. But the biggest problem for me was the animatronics & props, and a lot of the dialogue to be fair, looked like a behind the scenes documentary rather than a movie - which is poor direction and editing. I knew I was watching a robotic Giga, I knew it was a puppet Dilly, the camera angles for the group shots took us out of the emotion. The decision to take out the intro was a crazily bad one. They cut out dinosaur action to shave minutes from the run time. The main protagonist was Steve Jobs, the others was cartoonish. The TRex was a doddery grandma and the final battle was very short with the people taking centre stage in half the shots. Just bad decision after bad decision, on what could have been so much better.
It blows my mind this happened 3 times with Star Wars, Jurassic world, and alien. How can they be so out of touch that they thought fallen kingdoms problem was being dark
I think a lot of that jumbled nature coming from the production of Jurassic World Dominion comes comes down to a lack of focus and intention as any sort of new idea may be implemented to keep up production after the hit that was Covid-19.
Yeah I know a lot of people hated this movie. I get it. But I love all of the Jurassic Park films, no matter what people say about them. I went to see it in theaters and I wanted to cry at the end, but there were a lot people who probably would’ve made fun of me so I kept it in. But when I got the extended edition on Blu-Ray, I burst into tears. I loved how all the dinosaurs were living together other animals of the world and us humans. The Jurassic Park movies will always be my favorite dinosaur movies until I die. And nothing can change that.
8:21 is that a concept model for the dimetrodon? It looks way better than the one we got in the movie, same thing that happened to the dimorphodon, which looked more like a pterosaur in some of the concept arts, and less like a winged gremlin
My main focus points would be: 1. The movie is split into 2 different movies, essentially. JP cast subplot and JW cast subplot. 2. The dinosaurs are not dangerous at all. The scene with everyone encountering the Giga by the upturned car is probably the most absurd sequence in a Jurassic film. 3. It tried too hard to be a Marvel movie. It copied a lot of the Marvel formula and that just doesn't work with Jurassic, it's like mixing oil and water.
@@alanwilcox98 The prehistoric grasshoppers are in line with the themes of Jurassic, but they should've been the main focus of a whole movie, not a partial plot of a movie.
i’ll be honest i’d rather have a movie get completely delayed and completely redone rather than have it come out on schedule and be bad. i didn’t hate the movie, there’s definitely way worse than this movie, but i’m not saying that it wasn’t bad. it just had so much potential and story telling that could’ve been used, and they decided to sacrifice that all just for some bugs
People tend to forget that this was one of the first films to start production DURING A PANDEMIC! Holy shit they did the best they could given the conditions!
Or.....they could have just scrapped it, look over the script, and used the extra time to give us a respectable movie, or at least a movie that actually tried.
I never was into the aggregate of hybrid dinosaurs, so for me at least the Jurassic World films were all kind of a letdown to a certain degree. One of the main things I remember about the last film is that the Director said that this was the story of Rexy and how this would be her big moment, and we got nothing out of that, even more degrading for her was, for lack of a better term, “bitching” her out. The last film for me was such a letdown. Thanks for the video!
When there were like 7 or 8 people circling the car, trying to evade the big Dino, THEN I knew this movie was in trouble and that nobody was in any real danger of dying.
Dominion fixed a lot of issues with the previous films, even some with the Jurassic Park movies too. Dominion was the best installment of the series and it's too bad so many people can't see all the great qualities in the film. I would've expected more JP/JW fans to appreciate it, but unfortunately some people just want a copy and paste plot instead of something more sophisticated.
They didn’t embarrass or humiliate Dr. Grant or Elly they way they did Luke Skywalker. They treated the characters with respect. That’s the most you could ask for.
@@KlaytonFioriti but what's the frequency for the boat? fifteen trip eights, it's the third from the top! Sorry, the name made me think of those lines in TLW.
When I saw it in theatres, I thought it wasn’t half bad. I was mostly upset they didn’t tie up the Importer subplot- the lady just disappears from the film. I loved the real Velociraptor with feathers finally appearing… However, I rewatched it with my son and it took us three tries, and we were just bored.
Sorry Klayton, but I liked the movie in theatres and loved the extended. Its not the best but a middle of the pack movie with the trash JP3 at the bottom.
Dominion is that kind of movie that just didn’t age too well with me. It just felt like a Hallmark movie with dinosaurs in it instead of being like Jurassic Park. I have it a 6/10 before but now it dropped to a 4/10 for me.
@@rhedosaurus2251 Agreed. They tried to Marvelize Jurassic Park and it doesn't work for this franchise. Lost World is the last one to truly stick to the foundational principles established with the original book and then film of a smart film grounded in (pseudo) science, with strong ethical implications throughout the story that just so happens to have great action set pieces. But the characters behaved as humans not cartoons and the animals behaved as.... animals. We are also much poorer for not having a John Williams score on any of the movies post-TLW.
The biggest problem I think, was before Dominion. Biosyn should’ve been Lockwood’s company which is weird seeing Wu jump ship to ship with less continuity & reason. Also, Dodgson should’ve been played by Bob Odenkirk.
Biosyn should've been more present throughout the franchise IMO. I know they've been there since the first book, but they're never even mentioned in the film series until Dominion.
Lockwood was fine...if he had been Norman Atherton from the original novel. That said, Wu did create issues and Biosyn not being the mole from the beginning of the trilogy was a missed opportunity, instead they made Ingen the mole inside Masrani's company....extremely odd.
I hated the fact that these stupid moths got such a big part of the spotlight. I thought the dino action was really poor, especially the final battle. It just lacked the energy of JW in my opinion. Aside from that, I was hoping for a scene where we saw Alan Grant lock eyes with the spino from JP3 but it didn’t even make an appearance. Really disappointing
The moment that ruined the whole movie for me was when all the main characters meet and stand together as the Giganotosaurus approaches them. None of them were in danger at that point going forward.
If you adjust for inflation, the OG Jurassic Park run still made more than each of the Jurassic World runs, respectively. And definitely made bank compared to Dominion.
I've been following you for a while and was wondering about what happened to the enthusiasm you had when Fallen Kingdom came out because I couldn't find anymore the reviews you made for it. I enjoyed both FK and Dominion but that's because I kept my expectations on the floor and turned my brain off and I hate that one of my favorite franchise of all time has resorted to that.
Jurassic world and Jurassic world fallen kingdom are awesome. Jurassic world Dominion was okay but I do feel like they rushed it a bit. Hey Klayton I honestly like hearing from you don't forget that. 🦖
I agree that dominion isnt good. Its actually the only one i dont like. I was born in 84 so i saw all the jurassic park and world movies in theaters. This makes 3 look like a great movie, which i dont hate. I just hope rebirth isnt ruined like dominion.
Jurassic World Dominion has mutiples stories in it and should have been its own "trilogy" of its own. They didn't know what to do with the movie and instead of "dinosaurs" they made a plot about Locus, control, famine, etc. In conclusion, they just didn't know what was the story. I would like to see the adaption of the Michael Crichton novel on big screen with all the horror, gore, etc. If I had the money, that's something I would do
The dialogue is probably an even bigger issue for me than the plot, now that I think of it. The legacy characters are normally so endearing because of some swaggering delivered of (typically) fairly clever lines. The way they handled the reunion scenes in this film were just brutal to sit through, and hearing Dodson in these clips just reminds me how rough things were, in general, in that department.
I would love to see a 6h version of dominion, the director's cut alone improved the original movie (even though it wasn't that much) and I love JP content.
Colin isn’t a good storyteller. He’s just a fan. He needs A LOT of supervision and never got that. And everyone who films a 6 hour film should realize: Oh my, we may have not done our job before this. Bc nobody can cut down a 6 h film so a really good 2 h one
The locust thing really bothered me due to appearing more akin to M. Night Shamalyan's style than Jurassic Park. As a matter of fact, the whole film just seemed to have story elements & design choices that were clearly different(and seemingly borrowed from other films) than what Steven Spielberg & David Koepp originally set up in the original trilogy. To learn now that there were a ton of writers & creative minds clashing or improvising during production, it's no wonder it felt like such a jumbled mess of a movie. Too many cooks in the kitchen is never a good thing.
I’ll admit , the film has a lot of flaws but I still love it and the rest of the jw trilogy. I really wish things went differently and that the pandemic didn’t pull 5his film and back and lead to so many problems. And I’m hoping that jw rebirth will restore the fan base s faith.
They hyped it WAY TOO MUCH. It was too rushed and I remember sometimes dreaming about the movie a couple times where it had 2 parts instead of just 1. I hope Rebirth breaks that "funny family friendly for kiddies" thing that happened in Dominion. Of course they won't go rated R but something like The Lost World would be amazing. I'd like the video twice just for using Silent Partner as the soundtrack. I know you've been using it a lot in the past few months and it brings a lot of 2019 nostalgia!
I don’t hate dominion. I did leave the cinema disappointed but there are a few good bit. Still definitely the weakest in the series though. The locust subplot was like something from a Michael critchion novel.
For me, it isn't even that the movie is bad. It's what the movie could have been instead of what we got.
That’s how I feel. As a movie by itself, it has its moments. As the grand finale to the Jurassic saga, it’s an abortion.

Man fuck the fast and furious mainland idea I want the old jp back
It’s crazy how Chaos Theory was so much better than Dominion.

I don't think Dodgson was the CEO of Biosyn in 1993.
Disagree on Wu
It’s so sad that Dominion went through such a troubled production thanks to the pandemic and many other real world events.
It was terrible because of who wrote and directed it. Not because of a pandemic.
Great video going over all the production issues with dominion I got a feeling after with all the rewrites and production issues I am glad they got David koepp back to write rebirth.
Koepp hasn't written anything good in 30 years and almost all his good stuff were adaptations. I don't see how him coming back is good.
@@just_delightfulBecause his Jurassic park stuff was good, both jp1 and jp TLW were goated and he knows how to make a scary dinosaur movie, so that's why people are hyped for him, plus there's still a LOT of unused content from the books
I remember reading that the covid delay allowed them to work on the script. Bro what did that original draft look like that we got this!?!?
I always love when I walk out of work to see a new video waiting for me!
"Took a swing with the locust plot and it didn't hit" That's the biggest understatement ever. Dude who wrote that plot brought a baseball bat to a game of soccer and was surprised the crowd boo'd.
I think it's unfair to blame fallen Kingdom and camp cretaceous for dominions troubled production
Because their both soo much darker than dominion
Fallen Kingdom is a severely underated movie and I believe the only reason why people are turning on it is because their blaming it on jurassic world dominions more marvel like humour
Camp cretaceous is an amazing show with extremely strong character development and intense dinosaur action
As well as great ideas introduced to the lore
I mean the whole plot of season 3 was the Scorpios rex causing havoc on isla nublar And whipping out entire herds of Dinosaurs
So yah
Covid was the true cause
They probably wanted to make it a darker movie
But Because they were in desperate need for money because of their already expensive productions and people still getting used to going to the theatre
So the rewrote the whole plot to just be a kid friendly film with nostalgic moments for the adults
Which was in the wrong direction and was so poorly received that
They had to make Chaos theory to make up for the jurassic movie we wanted
But
I hate how jurassic world rebirth is also agnoring the movie we want just for the sake of another island movie
The fact that dinosaurs arnt even world wide anymore just make all the world building that had been set up since jurassic world fallen Kingdom
Just thrown out the window
JUST MAKE A DX DISEASES MOVIE
have the movie still focused in a world where dinosaurs are worldwide and are becoming such a problem that the government has tried to create a virus to whip them out
But instead of killing off the dinosaurs
It's spreading to humans while the dinosaurs continue to spread while the humans die off
Just like in planet of the apes
I dont want an alien romulus rip off
All these problems and "problems"
Still doesnt excuse this movie
@@alanwilcox98He’s a great producer. And directed JW and Safety not guaranteed very well. But his other movies have been bad.
Using the Indoraptor instead of a gun was dumb.
The device was attached to the gun, it wasn't meat to go with the gun. Dominion shows what the laser application was supposed to be in the movie
Oh were the days when we thought riding motorcycles with raptors was peak silliness.
just watched the 4 first movies, they still give me chills at least
Another problem with Dominion is that none of the characters felt truly in danger.
The only person that died at the BioSyn Valley was Dodson.
You have not mentioned, that at the very beginning of the movie pre-production the plan was to have two connected movies, like Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. In the end they merged those two into one which explains the amount of things shoehorned into movie.
Audience reaction is good so is mine. Finally I feel like watching dinosaurs again with appliance of more amimatronics not just CGI
The BIG question is still:
WHY did they change so much of it when they started production again? Why not restart with what was already constructed?!?
Not at all. Jp3 is the best 1. Dominion is about bugs.
@@dandino8100jp3 the best one wtf?
Like, the plot of ReBirth literally says ¨dinos¨... so, Yeah seems to me it´s going to be Jurassic 3 tone yet again
there were so many good concepts in the movies it's a shame, dinosaurs on the mainland? awesome, trapped with a baryonyx? great, Indominus Rex? creepy cool, trained raptors etc
I just wish the main plots were better
What this tells me is that, had the timing worked out for it, there was a very real possibility that we could have had B.R.A.D.-X robots in Dominion. Think about that.
It could have been great, yet there was so many loose ends and random things happening just to have more dinosaurs (who were only on screen for about 5 seconds). Dominion should have been like Battle at Big Rock.
Pratt saying this movie will be the "Endgame" of the Jurassic park franchise just showing to me how he and probably many people in the production cast didn't understood the type of franchise they were working with. That's sad.
Jwd is honestly a fun watch
@BradSnowslett well that is one way to look at it, as the way I see it and I believe many more, there could be so much depth to the plot of jurassic world franchise, if they are stating this movies are suppose to be fun and light than it is nothing like what this material supposed to be, doesn't mean it is wrong, it's just mean they made it something else than what it is
@@Bloop2124 ik but my mindset be Happy with what you got
Dominion definitely wasn’t the worst thing, but it wasn’t anywhere beyond mediocre imo, it does concern me though that my opinion seems to be pretty rare, it’s usually one extreme or the other, people hate it or love…..also it feels weird people hate it from the locust cause I feel like it’s the only thing that actually keeps it in line with the jw/jp theme of taking things to far genetically and the biblical aspect, only sad they didn’t do more with it
I think the issue about the locusts was that they took large part of the plot's focus (in a dinosaur-focused movie) in a mainline chapter that was mainly meant to be the beginning of dinosaurs spreading worldwide
As my review goes, the story was good and would've been nice to see in a sort of sub-movie, but definitely not the right one for this movie.
The locusts would've been fine in a different movie, not following Fallen Kingdom's "welcome to Jurassic World" ending.
I hope one day we’ll find out if there was an original version of this movie
Great video! Insightful & informative! Pretty on point observations with its shortcomings, didn’t know camp
Cretaceous had such an impact. Ugh the locust!
Dominion - a dinosaur movie about ...
...insects!
Wonder why it didn't becase a hit???
At least we got the extended cut of the movie, aka the real ultimate version of it, according to Colin (maybe it's the official canon one)
👍 great video, what was the “making of” book you’re flicking through?
Ayy klayton uploaded love your vids dude
Klayton keep up the good work!! Love hearing your voice talking all thing Jurassic park
My main focus points would be:
It copied a lot of the Marvel formula and that just doesn't work with Jurassic, it's like mixing oil and water.
plus giant mutated grasshoppers should have been used as a concept for a seperate standalone science fiction thriller movie.

I don't know man, that sounds exactly like the production on most modern movies.
Honesty considering everything that happened with the production, the movie could've been worse

The lost world is not very good but not THE bad movie of the franchise
@@Gabriel_Pierne It has far more merits then what people think.
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe.😊
Still a better legacy sequel trilogy than Star Wars.
Locusts are grasshoppers not moths. But the point is well played.
While Fallen Kingdom and Dominion are guilty pleasures of mine, I would prefer them to be objectively good like the early Jurassic films.
It's kinda funny how in both Jurassic trilogies, it is always the third one that gets the worst reception.
"So, what's your story?" UGH
"He slid into my DMs."

When will season 04 and season 05 of Jurassic world Camp Cretaceous going to be released on DVD?
I would love to see a 6h version of dominion, the director's cut alone improved the original movie (even though it wasn't that much) and I love JP content.
I knew! Camp Cretaceous had some influence on JWD!
Colin isn’t a good storyteller. He’s just a fan. He needs A LOT of supervision and never got that.
And everyone who films a 6 hour film should realize: Oh my, we may have not done our job before this. Bc nobody can cut down a 6 h film so a really good 2 h one
if anything a movie being 6 hours should be split apart into 3 seperate movies or a trilogy
At least Jurassic world Dominion did it's best to get amazing to watch
He lose
No it's boring to watch
Worst movie that supposed to be about dinos but is about bugs ever
Hey Klayton what do you think JW Rebirth will be? Do you think is going to be better than the JW trilogy?
They should just give us those 6 hour movies cause people would love it so much more
