Heyooo registered dietitian here. They are only required to list certain vitamins/minerals and that information can be expensive for a company to test for. Just because they are missing from the label doesn’t mean they aren’t in there! Frozen fruit is very nutritious- it can even have more vitamins than fresh fruit since it is usually frozen soon after being harvested. 18:12
I was looking for this comment! My degree is in food science and it is definitely very expensive to test for and list out all of the additional micronutrients that are not required by law. Plus, the nutrition content in unprocessed fruits and vegetables can actually vary quite a bit, so if the company says there is x amount of a micronutrient like copper, for example, and the amount varies seasonally or with different suppliers, they can get in trouble for it. Most companies opt to not list the micronutrients for these reasons. Definitely doesn't mean those nutrients are not there.
I second this but also would say that they may as well have not added any protein because a minimum of 15-30 grams of protein per meal is best, but I'd recommend 40-50 to help prevent glucose spikes and encourage satiety and help reach protein goals daily too! I'm a dietitian with a focus on glucose control.

Nutrition information on the acai bowl: nutrition labels do not disclose everything, they disclose what is required by the regulatory agency in your country and maybe a little more as long as the %'s don't change too much from what was sampled. It's up to the company if they wish to disclose more (usually costs more money!). If you put the ingredients in that bowl into a nutrition calculator, you will find a lot more nutrition than what is on the label. The fruit here is flash-frozen, it's a great way to conserve a lot of the nutrition minus some of the enzymes. None of the plant constituents, enzyme, or micro-mineral compositions would ever be disclosed on any nutrition label unfortunately. Also, be aware that these contain citric acid which is black mold. (I briefly covered this in the plant coating video just released but plan on doing an in-depth special about it.)
Every time I hear someone talk about chia seeds I'm brought back to my childhood. I literally only hear the "ch-ch-ch-ch-cha chia" jingle for chia pets. Ahh brings me back
@@strawberrysoymilkshake I never had those. Spirulin was recommended 20 years ago for mental acuity or memory or something like that, so my mum bought some when I had exams coming up, I don’t think I took too much of it though
I use a stick immersion blender with my Evive smoothies and they're very smooth. I love that I can make a smaller drink for my toddler with 1/4-1/2 of a wheel too.
Chia seeds as they gain moisture the plump up so if you have any kind of gi issue or an autoimmune that affects those systems, chia will can potentially make you sick. I take it with my Gatorades 5 hours after mixing them together because if I don't I become violently ill from the over extensions of my esophagus, stomach and intestines and I will not only vomit but stop the motility of my GI tract entirely and I need medications to correct the issues which sadly also include tearing. Chia seeds plump up to look like frog eggs or what textbook pictures of cells look like when introduced to moisture.
11:50 You taught me something new! I have had the smoothie attachment for my Vita mix for years. I could never figure out how to use it because it had no lid. Now I see you screw it to the blender and mix it that way. Man, do I feel like a dumb dumb.
Hi! Working in a Food R&D agency. Nutrition labeling depends on the standards of the country but micronutrients such as vitamins and minerals are usually not required to be in the label. With that said, if the label doesn't have vitamins in it, it could be that they just did not want to disclose it or the vitamin content is so tiny that it wouldn't have an effect on the recommended daily intake of an average person. It doesn't mean that the fruits don't have vitamins. Further, since the fruits are flash frozen, there might be some vitamin loss due to freezing injury. Hope that helps! 🥰
I’ve been a bif fan of Evive smoothies for yeaaaars!! They’re the best when I feel lazy and don’t want to make a smoothie from scratch. And they’re from Montreal! ❤️
15:21 I will be checking them out. I am very allergic to alcohol. I break out in hives and my lips swell. I am always on the hunt for a good place that makes non-alcoholic or Alcohol free beverages. I tried the brand Fre wine and it is pretty good. It still tastes like wine. I have also tried the brand Spiritless their Whiskey to be exact. I don't know how they do it but they made a beverage with NO ALCOHOL still have that burn that Whiskey has. It's insane. EDIT: I am so bummed they only ship to Canada it seems😢😢😢
So the smoothies nay have more vitamins/minerals than shown but there are only a few that they HAVE to report so those are the only ones they DO report. Look at the nutritional labeling requirements for your country and you'll see why those are the ones they show. In the US, it's vitamin D, Calcium, Iron, and Potassium for the micronutrients. Then for macros, they have to show carbs wuth breakdown for fiber versus sugar. Yours might differ in Canada or wherever you purchase from.
As someone with a lot of food intolerances and sensitivities/allergies sometimes making my own smoothies is the way to go. I can’t do too much dairy either so I substitute juice, or use frozen fruits. Occasionally I will buy a pre-made pack for Açai bowls. I tested the evive company from the grocery store but didn’t like the taste and I can’t do Pea Protein. It hurts my tummy.
brazilian here, just stopped by to point out the perfect pronunciation of "açaí" , it's really rare to see english speakers saying it correctly, but rachel nailed it! 💜💜
05:04 my German brain when Rachel tried to pronounce Zimt 😂 The z is pronounced more like you'd in British English "zed" not "cee", but way harsher, in Zimt it's more like a tz sound in the beginning.
You can't possibly imagine how disappointed I was when Rachel pulled out that muted green mug out of that beautiful sky blue box. I thought it will be the same color.
While watching this I was convinced that Daily Harvest must have rebranded to Revive because they sell the exact same products and the packaging looks similar (but in color) and even the clip of the website Rach showed looked similar. Turns out they did not. And after reading some of the other comments about Revives horrible customer service it seems like it shouldn’t be surprising that they’re branding and product are *so* close to another brands. I’ve never tried them but I have tried Daily Harvest (I haven’t ordered in a few years though) but DH was great and it was a breeze to cancel when it just didn’t work for me anymore (it was a circumstances thing, nothing to do with the product) maybe give them a try instead of the smoothies sound interesting to you 🤷🏼♀️
I came to the comments for this as well. I am also a former Daily Harvest subscriber and I loved their stuff, customer service was great and it was super easy to cancel. Hoping to restart deliveries in the future- just make sure you have enough freezer space!
I guess I am not a mocktail enthusiast, with the exception of a pina colada and a strawberry daquiri extra whipped cream. But, let's face it, that is pretty much a milkshake. I also wonder if getting alcohol free alcohol bottles would be some sort of twisted gateway to wanting the real bottles and the real alcohol for someone who is in recovery. However, how brilliant you could use this for someone at your party who you need to slow down. You give them the non alcoholic booze after drink 5 and they would have no idea and be sober by the party's end. Love that you guys have two preggos simultaneously. That is very exciting, gonna be baby heaven for the whole fam!!!
I'm lactose intolerant. And I either eat cheaper dark chocolate (it tends to be sweeter) or I absolutely love the lidl's fin carré vegan chocolate. They have an awesome one. But it's a vegan hazelnut one which you're allergic to. The other one is a cookies and cream one. It's so good but they don't sell it anymore at my lidl. It's again vegan but it has oreo type cookies crushed into it. The only problem is I have sensitive teeth and this chocolate is very very sweet. But tastes rather chocolatey.
Most fruit cells get destroyed when frozen, heated and over-blended. Many of the nutrients inside will denature or become less effective when directly exposed to the air, sunlight, heat without the protection of the cell environment. If Revive is blanching their fruit (optional), pureeing it (guaranteed), pastuerizing/drying (optional), then freezing it, not only is it going to be less effective at providing vitamins, it's also diluting the flavor. Frozen blueberries and strawberries become less tart, but it doesn’t make them any more sweet. The whole experience just adds water and removes important parts of the flavor spectrum. Stand up for fresh smoothies.
I heard from at least orange juice, whenever you juice the orange and leave it like that, it will continuously bleed healthy benifits, like vitamins. Boxed fruit juices are just fruity sugar waters at some point. The best thing is to drink it the day of, or eat the fruit itself
I had subscribed to Revive in the past and I honestly don't recommend. As Rachel had to do in this video, the amount of milk they direct you to add is NEVER enough, and for those of us with blenders that are not Vitamix-strength, it's a major pain. I've also come across smoothies with ingredients in them that aren't listed (banana when no bananas were listed) or incorrectly listed (supposed to have raspberries and the smoothie I got had strawberries in it).
I know this video is a year old, but when you said blume, I thought you were talking about Bloom 🤢🤮. Thank you so much for talking about BLUME. You guys recently showed up, and i love your content and honest reviews.
As far as the vitamins and minerals on the container - most labels only list one or two vitamins (usually the fat soluble ones) and macro nutrients. All other micronutrients - minerals, b, c, d, e vitamins etc, are not listed on the label at all, although you are still getting some of that in there…. UNLESS they are pasteurized, in which case there are none naturally left in so they would have to add them back in (in which case they would probably be listed).
My kids love the evive smoothies, but because I don't like waiting, I just blend it and turns out much creamier. Also instead of a cup of milk I do 1/4 pinapple juice, and 3/4 milk.
Fellow nut allergy person here! I did a small bit of searching and found that chia seeds have 7s and 11s seed protien that are also found in peanuts and tree nuts. There's no significant research that shows cross allergen associations, but it's possible. Yet another reason we'll never be able to buy store made granola...
I've been using Daily Harvest for a few years now. I agree that I've been unimpressed with quite a few of their items just due to them not being flavorful enough...but I do have my couple go-to's that I consistently repurchase. The Lentil + Tomato Bolognese Harvest Bowl, Broccoli and Cheeze Harvest Bowl, Cacao + Peppermint Bites, and Raspberry+ Fig Bites are my favorites. Some of the Harvest Bakes and Flatbreads are decent too, but not in my top 5. Overall, if you can find a few things you like and don't mind eating the same things a lot, it could be a good option. I brought the Ryzen mushroom coffee and it's actually not that bad, I mix it with just a little bit of the premier protein vanilla and it's good. You should try it out
12:35 maybe they suggest soy milk because of it. I've tried once soy milk and got nauseous because for me was too sweet (haven't tried other vegetable milks so don't know if something normal for that type of beverage). I don't my drinks very sweet
I’ve tried both revive and evive smoothies a couple years ago. I agree that the evive were chalky/gritty for all of the flavours. Revive was ok, but seemed a bit wasteful and overpriced for what they were. Also needed to add more liquid than what they say, so you’re not alone there.

Ahh brings me back
😂 YES!!! I forgot about those! 😂
Right?? I remember my mom bringing some home to mix in food and I was like, "the seeds with the plant heads??"😂
The powderiness is the spirulina probably, it makes stuff taste powdery usually
And the pea protein
Edit: or was that the evive 😂
@@strawberrysoymilkshake I never had those. Spirulin was recommended 20 years ago for mental acuity or memory or something like that, so my mum bought some when I had exams coming up, I don’t think I took too much of it though
I use a stick immersion blender with my Evive smoothies and they're very smooth. I love that I can make a smaller drink for my toddler with 1/4-1/2 of a wheel too.
Which flavor(s) do you like best/recommend?
@@BhappyD Viva, Sapphire and Aztheque are our family favs.
I got a Revive mixed pack at Costco - smoothies, soups, quinoa meals. Pretty good for dairy and guten free.
Kippis right back at ya! 😁 🇫🇮
Hi from Saskatoon. Love your videos. You bring so much joy and I can always count on your videos to cheer me up. Thank you.
11:50 You taught me something new! I have had the smoothie attachment for my Vita mix for years. I could never figure out how to use it because it had no lid. Now I see you screw it to the blender and mix it that way. Man, do I feel like a dumb dumb.
Zimt means cinnamon in German! Interesting for it being a regular milk chocolate lol
My Saturday sunshine!!
who better to have on as i install my new rug & put together my new lamp. thanks for the soundtrack!
I think the mocktails would be nice especially since I don't drink alcohol
Just depends on the sugar content
Same! I hate the burning and taste of alcohol. Maybe I'll like these better!
Interesting, thanks for this context. I had no idea!
05:04 my German brain when Rachel tried to pronounce Zimt 😂
The z is pronounced more like you'd in British English "zed" not "cee", but way harsher, in Zimt it's more like a tz sound in the beginning.
That blue evie one I enjoy with orange juice and with that blue revive one too!
Kippis! Christopher keeping up with the Finnish audience ❤🇫🇮
You can't possibly imagine how disappointed I was when Rachel pulled out that muted green mug out of that beautiful sky blue box. I thought it will be the same color.
This might be my fav Christopher shirt I’ve seen so far
The Hungry Caterpillar shirt!!!!
Finally someone I know and love tries Revive! I've been dying to know especially since Evie was horrible when I tried it
Maybe the smoothies need to be made with some juice and just a little bit of milk. Cows milk is a very strong taste. Can you have oat or rice milk?
WHERE is that hungry hungry caterpillar shirt from, I need it!!!
Christopher always has amazing t-shirts!
Awesome video! Could you review the Ryze mushroom coffee and matcha? I've heard such good things about them!
Evive is so cool!! I know veganbodegacat has been using them for years!
They also have suggestions as to what to blend their mixes with 😊
Nothing, what’s the macca with you 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Thanks for the laugh 😂
My husband is geeking out about your 1983 Beach Boys shirt. He was apparently at that concert in Daytona Beach at the baseball stadium. 😂
"Revive smoothies but let slushies die" HAHAH
How do you do your nails?!?! Is it polish. Gel? They always look amazing.
Happy Saturday from Newfoundland ❤
I'm lactose intolerant. And I either eat cheaper dark chocolate (it tends to be sweeter) or I absolutely love the lidl's fin carré vegan chocolate. They have an awesome one. But it's a vegan hazelnut one which you're allergic to. The other one is a cookies and cream one. It's so good but they don't sell it anymore at my lidl. It's again vegan but it has oreo type cookies crushed into it. The only problem is I have sensitive teeth and this chocolate is very very sweet. But tastes rather chocolatey.
As a fin, Chris saying kippis instead of cheers made my day😂❤️
Can you test oats overnight company? The blue joke will never get old! 🎶 I'm blue. Da ba dee da ba di.🎶
Have you tried the brand Recess? They make non alcoholic beverages like mojitos and margaritas. A friend of mine says they are very good.
Stand up for fresh smoothies.
they have the straw cleaner things at bulk barn!
I'm a big fan of the Evive smoothies. I like them better mix in a blender 😊 for me, best one is the Viva with peanut butter add in ❤️
I appreciate Christopher’s shooter mcgavin top hahah
I LOVE revive smoothies. The sweetened almond milk etc definitely makes them a bit sweeter
I'm almost surprised you hadn't have Evive yet they are Canadian and were on Dragon's Den. They also have lunch pods too.
PLEASE PLEASE TRY JENNA RAE CAKES’ CHUNKIES! They ship to Canada and US ☺️☺️
Hi from Winnipeg ❤️
“I’m a millennial and we love mugs!” This might be one of the most relatable things I’ve ever heard! Haha.
It's the editeding for me😂 Rachel please 😂😂😂😂😂😂
My kids love the evive smoothies, but because I don't like waiting, I just blend it and turns out much creamier. Also instead of a cup of milk I do 1/4 pinapple juice, and 3/4 milk.
I order my drinks from daily Harvest and the mint and cacao is my fave. Refreshing and sweet
Love his Eric Carle shirt!!
Chris always has cool shirts.
Loved this video!🥰
When I make a smoothie I use frozen fruit, a Greek lime yogurt and a couple of drops of OJ. Never thought to add milk.
I've tried Daily Harvest, which is similar to Revive, even down to being unimpressed with it as well, especially for the price.
I don't mind eating the same thing over and over again 🤣
I wanna be the first to geek out about the milk in a bag! Love from the US
Chris " what's a maca for you?? " 😂😅
So I got the fruit one. I think strawberry something I can't remember now. I didn't do milk cuz it does mute it. Instead I did cran ras juice. It made it AMAZING. Try making them with a juice that complements
I’d try adding fruit juice to these smoothies. A little oj or something
Oh heeeey! Thank you for not hating the bar lol. To be fair... it isn't my fave either. Though I think it is excellent for a milk chocolate, purely because of the mouthfeel ;) Lmk if you would like to try more of our items- will pick my faves (hope you like the darkness... and caramel).
I love how Christopher is like your personal Alexa or Google and he responded just like they would. "Hey Christopher, what is maca?..."
I'm obsessed with the nail colors in this video. Where did you get???? ❤❤❤
I can’t hear mouthfeel without immediately thinking of Boyle from Brooklyn 99😂
4:29 I’m absolutely OBSESSED with mugs like… it’s a problem. And I love that mug! However I’m very particular with the feel of when I drink from it. Like a bad upper rim or whatever it’s called can ruin the drink for me 😂
Does that make sense? It just feels like the rim is too thick and bulky 😖
I brought the Ryzen mushroom coffee and it's actually not that bad, I mix it with just a little bit of the premier protein vanilla and it's good. You should try it out
I love the hungry caterpillar tee! 😂
I love your eyeshadow 😍
#rachhloves could you try sugar free desserts i love watching your trying stuff i have lost 130 lbs in 9 months and im completely sugar free and would love to see you try sf stuff
Congratulations🤗
Wonderful work! I can't imagine what some of those sugar alcohol items would do to her poor stomach, unless they did the tasting test over the course of a month! What are some of your favorites, Chelsea, I am always on the hunt. I am in the US, so you don't have to supply the great stuff if it's only a Canadian item! Thanks!
@@libraryminnie5908 some of my favorite candy is the lily items although the sugar alcohol does sometimes make me not feel very good… If I have anything with a fair bit of sugar in it even alot of sugar alcohol I get so sick that I pass out even sometimes stuff with natural sugar like specific fruits, and as far as ice cream, the only thing that I found that is remotely close to regular tasting ice cream is the nicks brand altho sometimes it doesnt agree with me
I'm extremely allergic to peas so finding any good sounding protein is really hard because for some reason almost everything made with veggie protein has pea protein in it
Use O.J. with the fruit ones!
It’s the “aye” for me
You should do a skincare routine, your skin is FLAWLESS!
She has :) @RachhLoves on her other wonderful channel
