Don't worry about our Wise Girl there. "Last I checked, Goddesses can't die" Jorge always gives us a balm in the same saga as the pain. Honestly I want a whole saga with the pantheon just singing and dancing around Olympus and I need more Disco Hera.
But that's contrasted by the fact that Ares asked "is she dead?" I'd trust Ares word over Calypso on whether gods can die. Also I'd imagine a mortal with a sword is significantly less threatening than the actual literal king of gods.
@shark-kaboom8813 nah, Athena is a higher goddess than Calypso, as she is from the main pantheon. Ares just asked a question because she was definitely hit and appeared dead.
Jorge left the fandom in tears in the thunder saga, then proceeded to say: “Let’s make them cry a river that can rival the Styx” when creating this heart wrenching saga…I felt so emotionally damaged when watching the livestream with the animatics
"He's rude!" My brother in Christ he is as evil a man as they come. Just wait till the Ithaca saga for his villain song, that shit's going to bring in chills especially since his voice actor is just sooo good at portraying his cocky attitude.
His name literally means "Antagonist". He's supposed to be the opposite of telemachus and odysseus. They needed to learn to be cruel, Antinous always was.
Jorge is 100% gonna need a warning for that particular song. I figure he will since the snippet has a warning but maaaan. That song was chilling with Jorge singing it, imagine with Aryon doing it? Jorge really is great at finding perfect matches for the characters, that's for sure.
Man I had that same openmouth look of disbelief during the livestream at that Thunder Bringer reprise. Luke not only knocked it out of the park, he knocked it clear into orbit.
I can’t help but laugh everytime I hear Aries say “is she dead?” I’ve always imagined him to be a “dense” brute and I just imagine all the other gods turning to look at him with a “are you fucking stupid?” look. It did look like she died to be fair but gods can’t die, that’s why calypso is trapped on her island and I think it’s the same with Circe. Basically what seems to be the most popular punishment is being exiled to an island you can’t leave. I mean if I remember when the gods over threw the titans they couldn’t legitimately kill them so they’re body parts are like sealed in the underworld in tartarus, also the titans just straight up ate they’re kids(Zeus, hades, Poseidon, Demeter, Hera, and Hestia) and that didn’t kill them, while it does really look like she died at least we can cling on to the knowledge they can’t die until the next saga. I swear if she dies I’m gonna riot 😭
I always find it more sad, because Ares while being her opposite and being completely disregarded by her and most of the gods shows concern and dread at the idea of his sister being killed. When she probably wouldn't have done the same.
Trigger warning here: In the og odyssey, Calipso actually forces herself onto odysseus. he spends his days weeping, and the nights by her side, an unwilling lover with a lover all to willing. Shes a goddess, with complete control over that island. he stood no chance.
I love the contrast of this version of Thunder Bringer with the original song. With the original, Zeus is barely taking it seriously and is mostly just fucking with Ody and the crew. They're just another group of mortals that messed up, nothing new, may as well gave some fun. But here, with one of his own children "defying" him, he's absolutely livid, so those smooth clear tones from before are distorted and he practically growls each lyric. Luke Holt is an absolute beast of a vocalist.
Reminder, This is not a retelling of the Odyssey. A lot of things are not the same as they were in the original. The main reason Odysseus was broken in “Love in Paradise” isn’t necessarily how he was being treated but because he sacrificed everyone and everything to see Penelope and Telemachus but now he won’t ever get the chance. All of that massacre and calamity seems to be for nothing now.
It was implied, though. Yes, of course it's not a simple retelling, but at every turn Calypso threw herself on him and Odysseus denied it, was scared of it (especially when she revealed he couldn't stop her from doing anything because she's a goddess). The very last thing we hear from them for *7 years* is Odysseus saying "there is no way y-" "you're mine, all mine" and then she grabs on to him. The next time we see them, she's still calling him her love. She never stopped advancing toward him, and it's very easily implied that at the VERY LEAST she was sexually harassing him the entire time. Edit: and of course, much of the reason he wants to die now isn't just because of being trapped, but something tells me he wouldn't be on that ledge if Calypso had been a companion rather than wanting him sexually.
I LOVE your reaction!! After watching your Thunder Saga reaction (and loving it), I RACED over here when I saw this upload! I love how you really pay attention and enjoy this saga, and express the emotions you have 🌸. Thank you for also appreciating the voices!! They’re amazing!!
I was listening to god games and I noticed something kinda important. Zeus introduces the challengers, then says "or me". Not "and me" . He basically said convince 6 other gods, or just one (him). Then she did that and still had to convince him. (I know zeus is a hippocrit but still)
I was re-listening to god games and I honestly think the reason Zeus got so angry wasn’t just because Athena beat the other gods and got them to agree, but that her final shot was “Never once has he cheated on his wife”. As Zeus said “You dare to defy me, to make me feel shame!” He’s a hypocrite who doesn’t like the fact that his own actions were just thrown in his face.
@@JacobMingerI was under the assumption that the "make me feel shame" line was because he lost. As the king of gods his challenge and authority should be insurmountable, yet Athena went against him and beat him. So she brought him shame by essentially humbling him. At least that's what I thought.
I'm of the opinion that Zeus heard both insult and took offense at the challenge itself. Athena is acclaimed to be the wisest, and she knew exactly what she was doing with those words to Hera.
It's manipulation like Zeus loves: Convince these six OR if you fail that come convince Me. I get to play hero when they fail and release your Mortal Champion. But since she was able to convince the other six his "Yep. I'm the good guy!" Play didn't get to happen
@@JoeySings there is another song coming from this character. It will be worse characterwise but with this voice it will probably be most listened to! "Hold them down" it was called I think

@@midnightdoll_art You mentioned the name of a song, that's why I replied. I personally agree with you and don't consider that a spoiler personally but I know of a lot of people that would.

I agree with you but at the same time if there was a god who can kill another that would be Zeus and think of the irony of placing the line "goddesses can't die" one song before Athena dies
Ares asked if she was dead so it IS possible for them to die at least by the hand of a god like Zeus. Otherwise he wouldn't had asked that being a god himself.
I'm wondering why she's bleeding BLOOD-? Shouldn't it be ichor? Did zeus like... turn her mortal- Two, if this is accurate to the Odyssey, did Calypso actually... r@pe him? I mean… he sacrificed his crew just for a chance to get home and ended up stranded on Calypso’ island for 7 years. As Calypso said “Goddesses can’t die” so I’m sure Athena will be alright, just injured. Zeus is likely going to regret what he did as he seemed to at the end of the animatic and help Athena recover.
Gwendy actually explained the blood thing in a separate stream. It's supposed to be a parallel to Ody's journey, where he goes from man to monster. For her, Athena was becoming closer to mortality and humanity, going from God to man in a way. So it's represented in her bleeding red blood instead of the gold ichor. As for Calypso and Circe, remember that he and his crew willingly stayed with the latter that long in the original Odyssey. They were recovering after the issue with Poseidon, and preparing for going into the Underworld. No one was trying to make him love them.
