The duality of grass starters is that they're either really busted with mons like venasaur, rillaboom, and serperior or they really get the short end of the stick like meganium, chesnaught and decidueye . There really isn't an in-between, but I'm glad you're giving mons like meganium and chesnaught a fighting chance to show their usefulness!
Chesnaught is my favorite Kalos starter, he's awesome. Chespin is adorable, Chesnaught is cool and powerful, and even Quilladin's whacky design has grown on me.
I've had a lot of success in doubles with Chesnaught as a drain tank. Leech seed/drain punch/spikey shield/rock slide, big root, bulletproof, rock terra, careful nature HP/SPDEF EVs. Alongside a garganacl with leftovers I have stalled through many an unsuspecting team
Chestnaught was my first starter after only playing Gen 3 for several years, was also my first partner to make it to lv 100, a GOAT in my eyes and always my best Bud. Love the love towards him today. Your videos are always a treat, thank you for another upload!
Fun fact! Back in gen 6, I always wanted to go chespin. I always go with the water types though, so I went instead for the dumb frog.... I must say, it worked out very well, but now I always think back and wonder what might have been with the ol' chesnaught.... Thanks for another great battle!
Chespin is the "hard" difficulty starter of Kalos, not that that means much when they put their second Gym where the third or fourth gym should be. It's the only starter that is weak to the first Gym, but since it also gets roll out this doesn't matter. If they had removed the poorly written padding between the first and second Gym (making route 6, and the areas south of Cylledge City optional) and adjusted the level curve accordingly, then Chespin would also struggle against the second Gym due to being weak against Amaura's ice attacks and unable to do super effective damage against Tyrant unless you detoured to Ambrette town to pick up Rock Smash.
Been using chesnaught In OU very successfully. It’s a perfect counter to gambit and tusk. Cinderace can’t do anything to it as well unless it runs gunk shot which is extremely rare. Ran a max defensive with spikes synthesis woodhammer and drain punch
Tera makes Chesnaught an absolute beast by getting rid of that 4x weakness. Great showcase of an underrated starter 🍿 Day 16 of asking Haydunn for doubles content 👀
Hey, quick question, how does a ditto with imposter work with Tera stellar? If it switches out and back in to a different opposite Pokémon, does that reset the stellar multiplier on the moves (since they are different moves) or does it work by move slot?
Gotta love Japanese translation! I looked into bullet proof. And it gives him immunity to 26 different attacks! And the English names don't always say ball or bullet in it. So a few kind of threw me off like acid spray and zap cannon! I was like What?!
while it may not be the most optimal set, my favorite set with Chesnaught is Seed Bomb, Drain Punch, Rock Slide, and Earthquake with an Assault Vest. 240 HP, 252 Atk, 8 Def, 8 SpD, Adamant nature, Bulletproof Ability obviously, Tera Rock (yes i built it around the event raid version)
ive been using chesnaught in OU for months now and have been pretty successful with it. its an amazing meow, gambit, and tusk check. i used it defensively and to set up spikes but it still hit like a truck with woodhammer and drainpunch. 2hko tusk and 1hko gambit. its one of my favourite pokemon so im glad it works pretty decently in past gens and now
I have a soft spot for Chespin, chesnaught is one of my top 3 favorite starters and I hatched a shiny one by accident once, I also called it Juggernaut, love to see him fight!
Chesnaught is a sleeper pick. I had never respected it and when I finally played with it in omega ruby, i ran bulk up/drain punch and it was such a beast
6:33 just curious what the ability of Genar is. I haven’t finished the video, but at this point you know he hast to go for the body press fighting move why not go ghost?
Sick game. I think going for leech seed on the Tera turn with chesnaught would’ve been a much better play. At that point the Cinderace had basically nothing to hit you with. And the leech seed plus rocky helmet damage would’ve given you a free turn to get spikes up. Didn’t matter much in the end!
Steel Tera running gyro ball iron defense body press in doubles under trick room he can pair well with strong rock types like rhypheior running weakness policy for sweeps
6:02 what was stopping you from switching into Spookshire when they're choiced into a fighting move and then trying to hit them with a poison move cuz they're a grass type?
In this video I discuss the point that chesnaughts ability blocks Sludge Bomb and Shadow Ball 👍 If I had gone in there, it would’ve forced a switch, yes but we cant touch each other
I picked Chespin as a starter in Pokemon X as I'm doing a blind gameplay. Then, it evolved and I really hated Quilladin 😭 and the hatred goes to Chesnaught to just because of the second stage evo
About the move Whirlwind: It's just another case of translation as the Japanese word of the move basically means to "blow away" so I always imagine it to be the Pokemon blowing/screaming so strongly it blows away the opponent LOL
I love love love that u use all pokemon, i never see this in other channels and its one thing that made me upset about pokemon pros and such. And you also play singles too which i feel makes pokemon more fun and all vibale in some way if u build them. Thank you fof these vodeos seriously
Honestly it’s just knowing how to switch properly and not get hit by stab moves like knowing what your 2X weakness is preventing it with a berry they made it stupid easy in gen 9 just whatever Pokémon u want can be any type let’s just go back to moves like trick or treat soak and mystic powder gen then thoe
Us from the sidelines: “Chestnaught look out, he’s gonna use pyro ball!”
Chestnaught: “naw”
Lmao too bad bulletproof is trash

This set sounds sick
Fun fact: Chesnaught has the highest physical defense of all starters currently.
and it gets stab with body press. quite the buff
6:45 says that he doesn’t have a switch to a scarf ditto using body press whilst having a gengar
was about to say that lol
chestnaught has knock off too and also because it is bulletproof so sludge bomb or shadow ball wouldn't have worked against it the next turn
Ditto is locked into body press, só forced to switch
True but I couldn’t click sludge bomb or shadow ball.. I guess it forces a switch on their end but we both dont rly touch each ither

My favorite set right now is.
Ability: Bulletprooof
Item: Salac berry
Moves: substitute, bellydrum, drain punch, trailblaze.
I never thought I would see a chesnaught systematically dismantle a cinderace but here we are
I always liked chestnuts design.
You're wrong.
You really outdid yourself with that one@@xVibra
No
I don't. It looks like those goat head weeds that you step on and leave piercing thorns in your feet. I hate them. So I hate Chesnaught
@@rithium7646 It took more effort than chesnaughts design.
The fact Bulletproof blocks Pyro Ball but not Moonblast perplexes me.
Same, I can't believe it
The moon have a crater so is not a sphere
It's fascinating to me how much certain pokemon improved just from getting Body Press
My boy Chesnaught rarely gets any love, and of course it’s my boy Haydunn who finally gives him the love. 10/10

Haydunn coming in clutch with the fresh video, right on my lunch break 💪🏿🔥
Bro, yes. Chesnaught is one of my main homies. Always liked him. He has more of a digimon design, if you ask me lol.
It looks like a woodland Zudomon.
I know this vid is about Chesnaught, but shout-out to Knuckles the OG gen 4 Sandslash
I've been wanting to play Y since last year for two reasons.
1. Pick Chespin as my starter.
2. Yveltal is cool.
Oh man you started adding the team builds in the video description you’re the man!!!
Chester the Chespin was my first gen 6 starter ❤
The "pause" gets me every time!
I actually really like Chesnaught. His shiny is quite good too.

Putting Zoroark in the back of the party to really intimidate the opponent is a genius play on a psychological level
I now🫠
Chespin was my first EVER pokemon and Chesnaught never fails to impress me. Super underrated in my opinion, not just bias
The ditto was scarfed into body press right? You could have gone straight into gengar
I have a soft spot for Chespin, chesnaught is one of my top 3 favorite starters and I hatched a shiny one by accident once, I also called it Juggernaut, love to see him fight!

Wow I named my Chesnaught that EXACT same thing 11 years ago when I played through Pokemon Y
When I found out Chesnaught hidden ability was bulletproof i was devastated especially when i compared it to the other starters

I loved Chespins design and thought for sure they’d make him a grass dragon and then I saw chesnaught and was super disappointed
I read that title as "Cheesenaught" and I don't know what to do with myself now. lol
The turn were your Chesnaught went down you could just switch into Gengar knowing they are locked!
Need to know what the hell that Serperior set was
Meganium so hated and underused, Haydunn forgot about them and gave that title to Chesnaught.

Chesnaught was my first starter ever cause pokemon y was my first game. It looks better as a shiny than it does normal
6:23 since he's locked into body press, why not switch to Gengar?
While you are right, Gengar couldn't really hit Ditto because it had Chesnaught's Bulletproof. Gengar couldn't hit it with Shadow Ball or Skudge Bomb.
can you do a spiritomb team?
Its good to see Sandslash in action in this new gen,my favorite ground type of all time 😏 #ShinySandslash
Your beautiful voice is the only audio i need
FINALLY. chespin best starter objectively tbh
I always like him. He just have the malchance to beeign the same gen as a blue frog... And eserve a better typing
Should’ve switched to gengar when ditto went for body press
Use sludge wave instead of bomb on gengar
1. 5 morepower
2. Dodges bulletproof
Cool
Could have switched into gengar while ditto was locked into body press to save your chestnaught
What would've happened if he disabled Serperior's choiced giga drain at the end and Gengar didn't knock him out? Would his turn have skipped?
I’m pretty sure he would have struggled
Ditto video soon?
First time playing x I used chesnaught I always thought he pretty solid
Imagine what chesnaught could do if it had the grass/steel typing
I dont like Chestnaut but i will watch anyway cuz Haydunn always cooks
