The way he put out his "apology" is suspect too.
He put it at the end of the video along with the MxR situation, the latter he has no hand in the sudden termination of his channel, while Taiga's has.
He way he spoke about the accusations were like off-handed, the way he deliberately gasps beforehand shows that he doesn't take it seriously.
He has the time to make and edit a video, but not the time to review the facts involved such as Taiga not hiring an investigator. It looks like he was doubling down to his points.
Also the Wii shop music is inappropriate to the situation.

I honestly can’t tell what he’s thinking with barely even talking about it and not even get some of the facts correct still like somebody else had to tell him this or just saw the comments say it like that. Like some part of him thinks he has to hold back making a full serious apology either because he trying to keep some part of reputation or he has a bias against Taiga still.

@basicallynameless6804 Did he actually bring it up 4 videos in a row? And is there a stream vod of that tangent?
Also, that's very a charitable way to see the thumbnail. I tend to see it the way most do; as a full recognition of this controversy and using that as click bait while he shoves it 3/4 way into the video to get engagement. Is there a good reason why this wasn't just put at the beginning of his video? It seems to me that he's taking advantage of the controversy to get views on content. That's what I found in his response in this one video, but are you serious when you say he's brought it up in 4 videos in a row? Now THAT sounds a bit to me like content farming.

This shows a serious lack of understanding in regards to the legal system. So first of all, if taiga sued nux for libel (because it would be considered a broadcast for legal purposes), the case would already be there. I will explain why.
So let’s say, hypothetically, Taiga wanted to sue. He’d need to prove
      1. The statement nux originally made was false (which the PI already did)
      2. The statement was made to a third party (in this case, the viewers)
      3. The statement caused harm to taiga’s reputation (the requirement is a bit subjective in nature, but you have a fairly easy case to make here imo since nux’s reach seemed to be larger than the original rumor, and then you have the matter of the backlash itself even outpacing the spread of the allegation based on the rumor, but that’s ultimately something for the lawyers to hash out if they both have a good one, point is, it’s heavily in taiga’s favor as long as he doesn’t get Alex Jones’s lawyer or something)
      4. Nux was either negligent or malicious in making the statement (which is pretty clear, he necessary had to either be negligent or malicious in making the statement, and in his own words it was negligence)
So here’s what you ultimately need to pull for the evidence from nux. You have to pull something that proves he did, in fact, commit libel.
Now you don’t even need an apology video for that, the original statement is more than enough. But let’s pretend for the sake of your statement that we do want to use one of his apologies for the evidence.
For an admission of guilt, it serves as evidence because it involves an admission of committing the crime, not just feeling guilty alone. For example if we were to cut out the parts of him admitting to libel and just took the part that says he’s sorry for the consequences, it would make no difference than if he said “I’m sorry for what I said about taiga”. What really matters in the legal case when used as evidence is whether he admits to libel or not.
As for that, literally every one of his apologies that I’ve seen have done just that. I’ve seen five so far and in every single one he says that he said something that wasn’t true about taiga and that it damaged taiga’s reputation.
If you were to take any one of his apologies of the five I’ve seen alone or the original statement itself, the case would be closed right there.

    • @ExponsiatoDonego
      @ExponsiatoDonego หลายเดือนก่อน +2

The worst part isn’t just that he’ll try weaseling his way out. The worst part is that he is almost guaranteed to succeed in it, and there’s nothing that we can do about it. He’s done that countless times before, and he’ll likely do it countless more times.

@@karma8430I truly question why people don’t sue others for stuff like this. Even more so against Nux, as you have pointed out, lacks serious self-awareness of what he says both publicly and privately.
Taiga could get a hefty sum of money if he filed the lawsuit which would and probably will cover most of Taiga’s immediate problems. In the long-term reparation is gone but it’s at least a little boost to both his mental health and financial instability. This could also serve as a precedent again Nux and the myriad of questionable statements he has made over the years. Maybe finally we will see someone get punished properly for spreading lies about others on TH-cam.

For the record of thing’s Nux got wrong again, taiga did not hire the private investigator, they went into it believing taiga was guilty of the crimes but found that all the allegations were false. The pinned comment was made before the exoneration, you can kind of see that with the if they are guilty or innocent line and the line about the investigator. The pinned comment was unpinned for a long time because it was edited as when you edit, it unpins it but even then I don’t know know anyone who goes back to the video afterwards to try to find a pinned comment, I am not sure why he never wanted to make a direct public apology video but I digress. The podcast video did not have more views then the original video that spread the allegations. It was not in the first ten minutes of the podcast but twenty minutes into the podcast of an unrelated topic to taiga. The “retraction” was editing out the taiga part of the video via the TH-cam edit tool, it doesn’t change the re-uploads or somehow change the opinions of the people who already watched it before the edit which was around 350k at the time the edit was done. The shylily clip channel was taken down for impersonation not sexual content.

My hope for all of this is that we let it crash and burn in 2024, and properly weed out the bad apples (both in corpo and indie), take it easy next year, like just let people do their thing on their channels, maybe some calm graduations where people just didn't like their corpo's direction, or indies who go corpo etc.
After that it'd be nice if Holo, or maybe Vshojo could do something big that gets vtutubing back in the "normie" public eye so we can have another vtubing boom, hopefully with a more stable vtubing industry that actually knows how to handle it this time.

If I'm being realistic we'll probably have issues up until idk April next year and then it may start to calm down for a bit, Holo and Vshojo may or may not create another boom, but then we'll most likely get a new drama surge since the vtubing industry won't have had time to start itself out.

If TH-cam is already bad with attacking VTubers, then being spammed reports about one VTuber in particular will send them into overdrive.
I'm a Taiga fan; I only watched Nux for a short period, before I learned about how he hurt Taiga, and then I stopped. I never even subbed to him in that time. But what I do have under my belt is a vast understanding of the human psyche. It's my profession, after all. I believe that Nux's last two apologies were genuine: this one and his apology on Kick. However, I also believe Nux is a prideful egotist. Now, this isn't to say he's a bad person - there's a world of difference between an egotist and a narcissist, in that an egotist is more empathetic - but I do believe it goes some way to explain his methodology. Nux dislikes being wrong. He seems willing to say when he's wrong, but he doesn't want to say it in too big or flashy of a way, because it hurts his pride and it hurts his ego. So he posts tangential videos with apologies in them, or posts somewhere he's less likely to be seen, not because he's particularly hostile, but because he doesn't want to be seen as weak.
Do I think this excuses him? Not entirely. I do think his apology was good, even though he still got some facts wrong. The moment he started speaking more crisply and without slang, I realized he was putting his Nuxtaku persona aside to speak in that moment; no slang, no joking, but him being serious for a few seconds. That is when I started to realize Nux is genuinely sorry. His wrong information isn't him being malicious, but it's him misremembering events and assuming his memory is correct. It's Taiga giving in to his ego; a living example of the "No, it is the children who are wrong," meme. I kinda hope he gives Taiga a full, dedicated video with one final apology. And regardless of what I or anybody else wants, it's not really us that matter. Taiga matters. And we've yet to hear Taiga's response. To me, if Taiga is willing to see this as enough, then so will I.
And given that Taiga said he will be addressing it in *"one final stream"* on the topic, I think he might see this as enough to put this behind him going forward. I could be wrong, but his wording feels very precise in the update he gave.

Everyone is saying Nux is evil, Nux is this, Nux is that; Nux is human. He's a person, who can feel shame and guilt and embarrassment. That's the issue with life online; Nux is just a name and an avatar to most people. They don't see the person behind the screen. He's not some malicious force out to damage Taiga, because Nux has zero stock in Taiga coming back or not. Him and Taiga are not friends, but Taiga's return wouldn't harm him in any way either. So why would he be malicious?
The same goes for an apology; if Nux didn't want to apologize, we all know he just *wouldn't.* He's terminally online, and has to know by now that half-assed apologies are the worst thing you can do. Unless he really, genuinely wanted to, I don't see why he would do this.

@@Blarpozoom That's a fair argument, and is unfortunately just a byproduct of two things: Anonymity and Mob Mentality. As humans, we like to be a part of a group. The bigger the group, the more included we feel. In most cases, these groups are fandoms, audiences, and events that match our own interests, but to some people, those groups are places of bigotry, hate, and closed-mindedness. They revel in being in the presence of others like them and bask in an echo chamber where their thoughts are reinforced until they become volatile. Then, the real problem arises when one of these groups turns to another one that opposes their views; it becomes "us versus them" and like in any good conflict, dehumanization is key.
Look at wars: in the past, soldiers were taught to see enemy troops as less than human, because if they saw them as people, it would be harder to pull that trigger. We don't want to think about how the person we have to shoot has a family back home, has a nervous habit that is kinda like yours, or is probably just as scared as you are. All of those things make it harder to act. So people pretend like people aren't people. The same goes for insults and hate; the sheer number of times I've seen Trans and other LGBTQ+ people be labeled as sub-human is disgusting, but it's done with a purpose beyond insulting and belittling them. It dehumanizes them so people feel more comfortable driving their hatred forward. Even saying something as simple as "Nux isn't showing any compassion" can be seen as dehumanizing, as it's assuming Nux doesn't have any empathy.

Iirc charlie has a sort of group of experts like lawyers dedicated to helping out smaller creators who got fucked by youtube, he should get them involved on the taiga case and pay the relative fees. (This next part is kind of tinfoil hat territory, so don't read if you don't want to.)
As for vtubers being disproportionately punished compared to others, it doesn't surprise me, but I don't think it has anything to do with the algorithm or the "For kids vs. Not for kids" issue. For a very long time, western media has made passive-aggressive moves to push back against the massive success of the east, Japan in particular. Because vtubing is a predominantly Japanese medium, companies like TH-cam influenced by big media brands here in the west have a market incentive to downplay vtubers as much as possible. This results in the unfair treatment. Clipping channels especially make sense when you think about it. They drive a lot of traffic towards the channels that they promote, in particular towards Japanese-speaking vtubers, since the translations that the clippers do help ease large amounts of the English-speaking audience into watching their content, making them even bigger than they otherwise would've been with just the eastern market. TH-cam found convenient excuses to strike/ban them, so the company ran with it.
