Most people couldn't imagine the training they go through. It's a life changing commitment. Shaolin appears martial but it is also spiritual. You are training yourself to recognize the body, it's movement, and the energy that flows through it. The energy is very subtle, and hard to recognize for the thick headed. It requires constant training to become aware of the mechanics happening within. Then with full awareness, once trained, your moves are automatic, no thought, free flowing like energy. You will also notice that time is relaxed, and you have more mental space.
i agree with the spirtuality and hardwork but the engergy thing... Dude every single fighter knows the first week that the energy for your strikes comes from the ground , flowing to the end of the striking limb. Thats all.
Not so bad if you start when you are 5. Just another day. Well, guess I'll go micro fracture my shin and finger bones for a bit so they're hard as concrete. Later!
If you do nothing everyday you're gonna be more and more exhaust. If you exercice everyday (same just a sport or routine) you gonna be full or energy everyday because you body need to, your mind understand.
The Kun Fu taught in this video is articulate and well performed. The core stances teach you a foundation for the rest of the movements in the art form. If you noticed when he was performing the kicks he was switching between stances to enable him to build strength in the movement. If you do not practice the stances you will have no fluidity to your movements.
I started studying Shaolin Kung Fu in 1969. Changed my life immensely. I. 67 soon to be 68. Not as flexible and limber as I used to be. New knee and arthritis in in left hip. But I still train. I train Shotokan Katas using more fluid Kung Fu move. Combining the two has really kept me in great fighting shape. Even at 69.
I recommend to do this if you are training sports like me, i actually started this to get more flexcibility bc of soccer and finnish baseball but know i started to take kunfu classes as a hobby and when i got there we had to show what we got and the sensei at the school was impressed and asked if im done any martial arts before and i just sais that no ive done only these shaolin munks kunfu steps every morning from yt and they actually gave that as a homework to do for other students xd so thank you again who ever decided to make these vids, they are really helping thanks!!

I work out with kettlebells regularly and have been practicing yoga for three years. this still left me sweating and feeling sooo zen. amazing!! will definitely continue to practice.
I regret not learning any of this as a kid. I kept thinking at the time that I'd never use it, and that I don't want to put the work into it. I stuck with that up till now. And here I am, failing school, and my family is disappointed I'm me. I'm wanting to make myself learn and grow up. I need to stop thinking of what might happen, I need to think of what will happen. I'm not gonna hide in a hole anymore, I don't know when to stop digging. I haven't yet watched the video, but I am hoping that it will help me in making me a better person.
i'm in the same boat apart from i've been perminantly expelled from mainstream education and now I go to some center full of delinquents and i have slowly been turning into one of them and i just want to move away from everything to the forest and live the rest of my days as a monk training kung fu with minimal possessions to end my sufferring.. i hope you find peace
I am honored to receive this knowledge. I am humbled and stronger now. I have been practicing a few movements from this video for a couple years now! ...I have been practicing the basic principles of Kung Fu for many years and I am happy to know I was taught correctly although this true Kung Fu you offer and explain is so much "tougher". I was 14 years old when I began training Kung Fu. It is because of Monks like you that I am able to protect the weak and myself. Thank you so very much and Gan Xie.

Ever since i heard of this i have been meditating, practicing Kung Fu, practicing Monkey bo staff techinques, learning, studying, and taking note on important details in these moves. This is my first time watching this tutorial video. I'll keep on practicing and watching more tutorial videos about this. Keep it up guys, you've just earned yourself a member, subscriber, and a like.
Beautiful. This is the same we learned at our martial arts school, we integrated Tai Chi and Qigong into the Kung Fu practice exactly like how it is demoed here. My laoshi made sure we practiced at the stretching and basic foundations in every class, even if they were not Kung Fu classes. Thank you for showing us the art. 🕉️
Thank you for posting this video. It is a great inspiration and motivated me to improve my kung fu skills, even if it is hard work. Hoping to see more from you !!
I don't see the point in disliking this kind of tutorial videos...shaolin just offers basic techniques for free to get started in practicing...just practicing Horse stance is an unvaluable skill to strenghthen inner energy and to hace strong legs. Also It is offered the shaolin version of baduanjin qigong, which can be practiced besides kung fu techniques to develop a good flow of inner energy and a relaxed mind. Thanks shaolin for giving this material for free.

if you want major punching power, then do a push up but hold it one inch above the ground until you can barely push yourself back up. your arms should be violently shaking when doing this correctly.
I did the this basic Kung fu skills session today. It’s was very physically demanding but enjoyable at the same. Once you get into the flow it becomes comfortable & relaxing. I’m very much looking fwd to the next session which I’ll be now doing weekly ☯️👁
very good basic! I just did it all and I think it's more complete than any course I took for real!. But probably having done some kung fu before would help follow the video.
Every second person watching this here "basics" video seems to be like the greatest martial artist who's ever lived - its a bit scary really; best not walk through the comments section at night, man))))
Lance Prep Try the wudang style horse stance because it's harder and very natural. You see, when you ride an actual horse, your feet are only about shoulder width apart. You must maintain good posture while doing this, so only go as low as you can with your back still verticle. Hold it at whatever height as long as you can once a day. Within six months your thighs should be parallel with the ground. the longer you hold it, the higher you will be able to jump. There feet in this video are extremely wide and no one rides a horse like that.
In karate, the horse stance is the first one taught. It is brutal in karate. You need to start by doing stretches first. When doing the positions just hold for brief time at first a couple tumes a day, then steadily increase the time holding the positions. It gets easier once you get your muscles in shape.
@@yusufsumtallee7374 no, Karate and Kung Fu are vastly different. Karate is brutal, whereas Kung Fu is soft but firm. It's like the difference between hitting someone with a stick vs blasting someone with a water hose. Just as effective, but entirely different. Plus, Karate is hard on the body, but Kung Fu uses natural body movements, which makes it easier on the body.
Just watched each stance carefully and liked the way of demonstration. Thanks to Monk Deyang. About me: Working as a Computer Science Faculty in Govt. School in Kapurthala District of Indian Punjab. Thanks to Shaolin Temple.
Thank you so much! This is so similar to yoga that at my age I can still do it!! Sitting pose? NO PROBLEM!! During such unrest in America I want to know I can be an outward warrior as well as an inner warrior and protect my self and my family! We are all yogi's and meditate and now we will practice Kung Fu! too!!
thank you so much Shaolin teacher I learn it with my sons they need it in school for safe themself and safe someone I ♥ it We will learn it with your help and so much thx to youtube ♥
I'm starting this today, I will update this comment for every day I complete these exercises. Day 1 complete Day 2 complete Day 3 complete Day 4 complete Day 5 complete Day 6 complete
Saicee Yhan After a week or two weeks, your body will lessen the pain. To train more easily, the important step is to warm up your body and relax your muscles before starting your workout, so take a few minutes to warm up your body before you start. You can give each movement from about 30 seconds to one minute at the first practice session and gradually increase 15 - 30 seconds for each movement on each subsequent training day depending on your body's ability. Or you simply count yourself every time you practice, such as punching or kicking 10 times and increasing 5 times a day. And remember to increase the time slowly, because when you first start exercising your body is not used to movement, it will make your muscles hurt. Be patient and exercise regularly every day to achieve the results you want.

That horse stance man... I'm practicing to be able to hold it for long amounts of time.
@@DrRobynKelley313 Are karate and kung fu same?
@@yusufsumtallee7374 no, Karate and Kung Fu are vastly different. Karate is brutal, whereas Kung Fu is soft but firm. It's like the difference between hitting someone with a stick vs blasting someone with a water hose. Just as effective, but entirely different. Plus, Karate is hard on the body, but Kung Fu uses natural body movements, which makes it easier on the body.
@@DrRobynKelley313 Thanks. I am actually doing the stretches to improve my legs for Kyokushin. We have Horse Stance too. It's called Kiba dachi.

Thank you so much! This is so similar to yoga that at my age I can still do it!! Sitting pose? NO PROBLEM!! During such unrest in America I want to know I can be an outward warrior as well as an inner warrior and protect my self and my family! We are all yogi's and meditate and now we will practice Kung Fu! too!!

Doing horse stance is killer, but it gets your legs really strong

Your body will steak to it
Just let the stances flow into your
Saicee Yhan After a week or two weeks, your body will lessen the pain. Be patient and exercise regularly every day to achieve the results you want.

im training to beat up a bully
+Blake Hunter Good luck
+Blake Hunter That is not an honorable reason to learn this, and a very selfish reason at that. You are shaming the shaolin.
emohippy420 idk... your name is emohippy420...
+Blake Hunter You refer that as self-defense. Him getting beat up is only part of it.
+emohippy420 Helping other people (and yourself) to get freed from a bully, pretty noble in my eyes, nothing is this world is done without counter-actions
added some extra weight in hands and legs and it aint no joke of a workout. May Buddha bless you Shaolin Kung Fu. thank you.
