That mudkiller is doing some crazy witchcraft turning such a loose and fuzzy tone into a tight modern metal tone with some of that old school filth still present... Definitely gonna have to experiment with some boosted fuzz tones soon 🤯
Thank you so much for that sir, much appreciated! Like a big dummy I sold my Mud Killer, because it sounded too bright to my ear for the tunings I playing in(D#, drop C#, D Standard & Drop C), then almost instantly realized I screwed up, thinking the Mud Control would probably be killer at de-blurring the Palm mutes when playing my Big Muff pedals. This confirms it, I’ll be buying another Mud Killer as soon as I can! 😂👍👊✌️ It even makes sense if one thinks about it, because the sound of a fuzz circuit is produced by distorting the bass frequencies within it.
Hey, little bit of friendly advice. Try backing the sustain off the Big Muff the higher the output is set on the overdrive. Much like how in an amp boosting the dirt channel with too much gain will make the tone collapse in on itself, the same thing happens with fuzz pedals. Try running the Sustain on the Muff at in between just over "off" and 9:00 with the output of the Tube Screamer cranked, then blend in the TS's own gain to taste.
dude i have interested is this sound, i have seen where people use the sd-1 for more of a overdrive boost than distortion, and adding that with a big muff seems like it would kick some ass. would love to here how this sounds
I've heard the Metal Muff pedal is basically a souped-up Big Muff circuit with added gain stages... so basically like a similar thing to what you are doing here. Good video, you got some killer tones going on! \m/ Review some free VSTs please! \m/
@@nailzconnely1490 The metal muff is a badly named metal zone copy, not a muff at all really. Treat it like a metal zone and it does its job quite well.
the metal muff is barely a muff. It's basically a copy of the boss metal zone circuit with a fixed mid frequency instead of parametric eq. It only shares it's basic circuit arrangement with the op-amp big muff.
@@MrGallade475 sounds right it's like no matter what you do it's eather too much bass too much mid or treble the noise gate works but you would rather have a dedicated noise reduction pedal it just tries to do too much just get a big muff and put a TS9 before it and that's a better more reliable and more versatile setup
@@nailzconnely1490 the reason for that is it has an extremely touchy EQ. if you really take the time to mess with it and maybe mark the positions with something then you can make it sound great. Again, the metal muff is a metal distortion pedal, not a fuzz or overdrive pedal, and really is not similar effect at all to a TS9 going into an actual big muff. It's like cross shopping the boss mt-2 with a fuzz face, they're completely different sounds.
Hmm... I'm curious to put a Mudkiller in front of my Hizumitas. Not that it needs it but it could give ne something different. I think you sold me on it. Cheers
Interesting idea but whats the point of trying to tame or make a fuzz sound more like a distortion pedal? Why not just use a distortion pedal to start with. Let a fuzz be a fuzz. Don't kill the fuzz...embrace it 😊

Best Tip to make your Fuzz CHUG))
Dude, thank you. This is an excellent tip. I have never heard the Green Russian sound so metal. \m/
I had no idea you could do that with a big muff … thanks a million Sillas!!
Excellent, thanks man
Bro, this is a game changer! I love fuzz but i tend to play fast because I started out as a thrash guy. Im subbing.
Happy to help, thanks for watching 🤘🏼
the tone of fuzzydrive is so underrated
I just discovered this recently with TS9 AND big muff pi
cool demo very helpful
Thank you so much for that sir, much appreciated!

This was great to see as the past couple of days I've been looking at the Green Russian Muff and then you come out with this video!
Dude, you got a killer tone like that and totally rip. If I didn't live on the other side of the planet, I'd totally want to jam with you.
Oh man that helps alot. I have been doing it wrong.
I was thinking of selling my green muff. lol
Im going to try that right now. Thank you
Man this is a really good tip thanks
This is an invaluable tip right here. Thank you. You've earned yourself a new subscriber for sharing this.
Awesome tip man!
This was great. Thanks!
great explanation and setup, clear!
Silão guitar Man 🔥🎸🔝
This is a great channel!
ótimo vídeo SIlas !!!
So far I have a big muff pedal, and Boss sd-1. I'm gonna try them both to see how it sounds. Nice demo.

I stack SD-1 (my favorite overdrive pedal by far, OCD being the second best) with RAT and the possibilities for great sounds are endless.
Hmm, haven't heard of the Mud Killer and will definitely be checking it out.
Thanks man, I don't play metal but enjoy very much the tips. Cheers!
You are welcome!!
Thanks for watching

the metal muff sucks
it's doing way too much
you're much better off with a big muff pushed by a screamer

Kool thanks for the video. I discovered pedal stacking for myself in 1991. Most guitarists say that they need a Boost pedal or it's not good enough.
so dope
Lots of distortion and the guitar full of stickers. You Mf, I'm in.
Oh.! So you can use a fazz pedal for metal? Nice...
Is the bad for the amp if you got it cranked ? I play bass and I think this is how I fried one of my old amps😂
Sweet , what amp you playing ?
He’s using the Seymour Duncan Powerstage 200 as his power amp and the Big Muff as his distortion/fuzz tone and boosting it with OD pedals
so this can work with the life pedal??
Should work with any fuzz pedal and OD
Your tip sounds great but the before sounds although not exactly "metal" sounded awesome too
I stack the fuzz in the trash can
Are you running your amp on clean or distorted channel?
Totally clean
