    We went there today, two big grabs but could not land anything. A chap who was diving said that there are some huge kingfish here as he spears with his spear gun. He said that an hour before low tide is ideal but watch for the kelp and "tunnels all over where kingfish hide. What an awesome day today. I will be back in a fortnight, a hour from Mount Roskill but. Excellent video, thanks. The family love watching them. Best

      Cheers mate. About the same travel time for me too but worth it. Should be a lot of kingfish about soon. Always pays to have a livie out if you can get one. Best of luck on your next trip.

      @@lesliekistanministry191 I always find fresh bait is best for larger snapper. Don't have enough experience in that location to say whens best yet. I use the solunar bite times from this site. tides4fishing.com. Not always right especially around full moons but a pretty good guide.

      I worked on a longliner 25 years ago that we had moored in that harbour. Had always wanted to go back there and give the landbased a go. Was stoked to land that snapper. Have to go back when there are some kingis around too.....

    I put the rod holders in there in 2002.
    Not sure if they are the ones I put in but I used a special white tile adhesive thst dries quickly.
    It waa a good spot. I used to fish it a couple times a week.

    Just came back from Sullivans Bay, very bad weather and we caught absolutely nothing. One strange thing one of our rods just snapped in half. I met a local elderly man who said that he always catches fish here and that if you stay after nine, the gate opens automatically, you will not get locked up. We went to the spot you went, one strong bite but the wind was so harsh, lost heaps of traces. Two guys were diving, nobody was on Pudding Island. Next time we will go further down right of the island. Thanks, we used your traces, strong as. Take care

      Cheers for the feed back. Saw a guy on FB landed and released a 20lber there recently. He had been watching the vids too. I was out today on the rocks in tha Manukau fooling around with a little soft plastic i found. Can cast it a short distance...lol. Picked up a couple pannies a 47 cm trev and hooked and lost (incl softie) after a decent battle, a small Kingi. Fishing was going off. Surprised they weren't there for you. These conditions often bring them on the bite.

      @@DarkmoonAngler Thanks, but thats fishing. We used salmon burley and pellets. It was rainy, overcast and windy, but I was loving being outdoors than in front of a computer, even if one does not catch anything, just being there is refreshing, well I think. Also there were some bait around. The tide was dropping and the rocks appeared. Anyway I need to search for good spots in the Manukau area because we live central. I am preparing for fishing heavy in late Nov, whole Dec and Jan. I must catch at least one kingi. Love the videos you post, the family watch them daily! Well done on your fishing.

    Hey man, is this the rocks north of sullivans bay or south? I use to fish the northern rocks and usually catch a feed. But keen to explore the southern end if its accessible! :) I might even bring the kayak up and have a paddle around.

    • @DarkmoonAngler
      @DarkmoonAngler  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      looking out from Sullivans bay, I went right and around headland, past pudding island to seaward face of headland. I would have thought that was East or Northeast? Think it is also accessibly from top carpark walk that heads to bay on southern side of headland. But have not personally walked it.
