      I must say you do a GREAT service for med students by doing these interviews --- you really can't get a better idea of what a specialty is really like unless you sit down with a physician who does this type of specialty day-to-day they and can speak honestly about it, good and bad --- keep up the great work !!

      Bill Belzek Thank you for the kind words! The reason I started doing these was to help medical students, undergraduate students, and even grade school students get a better sense of medical career paths and decide on a specialty. It would be nice if I could play even a small part in helping the next generation of healthcare professionals!

      It really is a great service! And don't forget to tell all your classmates and associates to vote BLUE in November --- let's get this criminal scumbag Trump out of office and get a Dem POTUS who actually wants great healthcare for all American citizens!

    Salaam aluikum Dr. Adnan, I have a question about this video. My question is: After completing an infectious diseases fellowship, are the subspecialties that come after infectious diseases between 1-3 years, or do you just concentrate on a certain disease without completing additional years?

    Great interview, really good questions. Thanks for this resource! Now I just need to scour the internet to find out if it's possible to do an ID fellowship after an emergency residency instead of an IM residency 😂 #PathologicalGeneralist

      Thank you so much! And no problem. I haven’t heard of that especially since ID is very medicine based, but sometimes there are loopholes or side doors. Good luck, and report back if you find one haha!

    • @DrAdnan
      @DrAdnan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      AboveYou. FM has the most breadth and I like knowing about everything, I can work in many settings, I can craft the type of practice/focus on the cases I’d like, the residency is short and slightly more manageable than others so I can get out sooner and start working, and many more reasons. The downsides are the relative pay compared to other specialties and the lack of surgery/more involved procedures (though FM docs can do basic things). I’ll probably make a video about it in the future!

    Ask infectious disease drs about why lyme disease testing don't work for people who have weak immune systems, comprimised immune systems. This is called seronegative. This is why these tests show negative results. People who have weak immune systems don't create the antibody counts for a positive test, which means the person has lyme and or nuerological immune suppression lyme already. This is a cruddy nuisance which is being pulled on lyme patients and is wrong. The elisa test don't work and the western blot isn't good but skipping the elisa and doing a western blot picked up the disease I have and 5 negative elisas before, plus a very simple urine test picked up the lyme toxins and where do these toxins come from, these toxins come from the whole body. When lyme, other tick diseases and mold are not diagnosed in time these nuisance diseases cause very serious nuerological autonomic, central nervous system, nerve demyelinating nuerological problems. These id drs are not fully doing there jobs but get paid alot of money to decieve people. Before a lyme test is done check immunoglobulin antibody levels panel first before the testing that don't work to show antibody levels and then find out why the tests don't work.
