- Time to unbox the Tamiya DB01 Durga
What a treat this is!! All the way from Japan and been sat in my build queue for about three years. I am so excited to get this out on the Orchard Raceway as an end of season boss time attack!
Bit like when they bring out M Bison in Street Fighter 2 💪🏻
Awesome kit and unboxing Craig. Looking foward for th build. Cannot decide which kind of video it should be. Both versions have their charme
Cheers Dirk. I have settled on a nice montage video with some chat to go with it. I am loving the build more like this! Such a cool buggy to assemble 😎
Hey that does look like a great kit. Unusual not to have letters on the bags. I'm sure that this will do well on your circuit. Great overview Craig 👍👍
Thanks Pete. I have been sat waiting for the right time to build it for a while and I am glad I took the plunge!!
Beauty of a kit, Craig! I'm very excited to see this bad boy on the OR! The silky smooth belt drive should make the Durga quite the contender. 😊
Hey Fil, I hope you are going to be right brother otherwise the boss battle will be very disappointing year one 😂🤣 The kit is quality throughout and I am very pleased with it. Think the build is going to be a one and done but we’ll see how it progresses 😁
Oooh Craig, what a kit, I bloody love it mate! Oh man and I thought you were going to skip the tyre sniff - good man for sneaking one in! Strange about the wheel mounts, Tamiya moving in mysterious ways again. The quality of this kit shines through, even a wibbly wobbly included! Being belt driven this should be a dream of a drive. Can't wait to see it up and running on the OR mate. Haha "video for each step"!!! 🤣🤣 Just do an overview mate, I can't see too many people building these. This is definitely a contender dude! Cheers! 🍻😎🦫👍
It was a nice 2008 vintage on those tyres dude!!
The wheel mounts are crazy! I have some traditional hexes for another day which will help but I will run it stock first.
The belt system is cool in this one. Centre motor and two belts powering the front and rear diff. It better be good now I have teed it up to be the best 😂🤣
I think it will be one montage video with some lovely chatter on the journey!
@@theoagrc Sounds like a plan mate! 👍👍
I can tell you, it's about time you got this out, dude! What? Sitting in hiding for two years, ha ha? Get started, and most importantly just enjoy the build, shoot some video for us and just get that great buggy going! I know I love mine, I wouldn't call it a fast buggy, but it's just so pleasant to drive, I am sure you will love it!
Hey Mads, it just needs to be easy to handle rather than fast for the OR. If I point it and it goes where I need it to then we are in for a winner. The buggies that have been on track for 2024 have really lifted the benchmark for this year. I hope that the Durga rocks it through 😎
I like the montage approach like Addams Playground and Nanni RC do with highlights of kit nuances.
I do too buddy! I am considering that as a possibility for this one. I am seeing how it is all coming together 😁
Wish those kits were readily available in the US. Looking forward to seeing it when you're finished.
Cheers pal! Yeah they can be found but one of those yesterday kits like the DN01 too! Tamiya should pop them back out again. I am sure they would sell a few 😁
That’s going to be a real nice buggy!!
Count me as interested Craig!👍😊
Cheers Jeremy! This one should fly around the OR!! It is going to need to be fast if it will reign as Boss for a few seasons to come!! Just hope it is as good as I want it to be 😁
Awesome!! Looks like a terrific buggy! Belt driven too! Cheers
Hey Mauzy. Looks good doesn’t it!! Started the build last week and it is beautiful. Nice to build something very different and I can’t wait to put it on the OR
Nice one Craig! I have yet to get that kit. I have had one watched on eBay for a while but have not pulled the trigger. Looking forward to seeing it get built. You post it and I'll watch it!
Thanks Addam! The kit is really nice and I have enjoyed starting it this week. Certainly a premium Tamiya kit and I can’t wait to see how it spins up on the track! I am suddenly worried it is not quite going to be the boss I want it to be after running some of the other cars the last week 😯
That's going to be an awesome build dude!!!! I can't sit on a new kit more than a few days..... I'll be waiting for this build man!!!!
I have been sat on a Terra Scorcher for nearly 4 now!! Sometimes you just know they have to wait 😁
@@theoagrc Not for me.... I'm retired, kids are grown and out of the house, wife is always out & I have no life.... I'm Not Waiting!!!! LOL
I think you should do one build video, concentrating on highlights from it.
Great advice pal! I think that’s where we are heading with this one
Nice unboxing, can't wait for the build 👍 Good luck on the DN01, maybe on Buyee ? Or perhaps try to get a 201 if budget permitted 😅
Too much for me at the moment!! I was so close to a DN01 a few years back but didn’t realise what it was until it was too late!! It was why I picked up the DB01 when I could
Nice one 👍 looking forward to the build 😊
Thanks Mark 🙌🏻
Looking forward to seeing how the Durga performs, I have one in my build pile to do at some point. Gradually getting more and more upgrades for it. I figured I may as well do them all from the start rather than after its built. Going with gear diffs in mine, have seen many a story of melted ball diffs! Not sure on colour scheme for mine, I had been thinking of PS-46 like Fil used recently on one of his builds. Not sure though!
Thanks for watching! I have another one stashed away with a mountain of hop ups for the ultimate boss battle in the future!! I am trying to avoid going full on race buggy until later in the future but I think we’ll eventually end up there one day!!
Fil’s DB01 is an inspiration so I say do it 🙌🏻
@@theoagrc You can never have too many Durgas! Still get them quite cheap from Japan, think I paid about 160 for mine, no import duty either so result! I don't mind what kind of format you use for the build video/s. Certainly some more detail/tips on the trickier areas would be good 👍
@400Wedge it is starting very slowly! I hope you guys all enjoy whatever content comes from the build but most importantly once it gets out on the Orchard Raceway 👍🏻
very nice mate … reckon it should go well 😊👍
Cheers Dom! I am hoping it goes really well now I have built it up to be the season finale boss battle!!
Great unboxing mate!
"smells like a 1982 go cart track"!!!
Superb tire sniffing analogy there Craig..... I can almost smell them through my phone screen!
Now this is one of the more modern kits that actually interests me, I've heard lots of good things said about this buggy.... despite Gavins recent videos! 🙄
Nice bit of design, nice styling, with the potential to do well on the track once correctly set up.
Shame on Tamiya for the awful presentation on this one, this is a kit worthy of some blister packs and illustrative dividers...... not just lobbed onto a generic box! 🤷♂️
Regarding the build, entirely up to you mate, but, I haven't seen a detailed build on this one before though.
From a creators perspective, I feel doing a full in depth build video kinda takes a lot of the fun out of the build..... and makes the whole thing so much more time consuming.
I think you can still get a good idea out of a photo montage if done correctly.
I think the perfect name for this one would be BOWSER if you are intending to create an OR end of level baddy to fight!
I mean, who can't relate to battling it out with king Kooper aa the end of level boss on the many epic Mario games over the years?!!! 😉
Look forward to seeing what comes of this one dude......
Right, now I'm off to ebay to log a saved search for this kit...... Your a bad influence!
By the way, have you received our stickers yet mate?
I've lost all faith in royal fail..... You wouldn't believe how many haven't reached their intended destination!
👍 👍 👍
Love the idea of Bowser dude!!
I have started the build and going for a montage approach to this one so I can enjoy the build a little more and so far so good!! It is so much more fun doing it like this.
I have sent you a link pal…. Stickers arrived safely (and those sweets for Mini ❤️)
@@theoagrc
Montage sounds good mate, enjoy!
Glad the stickers reached you to.
Have a great weekend dude.
👍 👍 👍
These things can be decent little racers. I want one!! Oh, First!
THE DN01 I do have and I love it.
Oh man I need a DN01 in my collection so bad!!! I keep looking but I don’t think they were ever as popular as the DB01!! Maybe one day Tamiya treat us to a rerelease of it 😁 Thanks for watching Paul 🙌🏻
David, send me an email to theoag180@gmail.com buddy and we’ll chat. For some reason your comment is not showing on TH-cam??
I noticed that. I also saw a couple of notifications, but no comments.
TH-cam is doing funny things sometimes Paul! Doesn’t show comments properly and I hate that when you can’t interact with people who leave brilliant comments 🙁
Hey Craig that is a cracking buggy! Not much to look at in the box lol but a very nice buggy!
Just a little warm up for the delights to come James!! I have been itching to get started on this one 😁
Its a thing of beauty, just like me 😁 one car i really want, but know i’ll spend soooooo much in hop ups 😂 so im resisting buying one lol
Hey Richard, I am really enjoying the build so far. It is a nice Tamiya for sure. Just hope it is going to be fast 😁 The hop ups are crazy!!
@@theoagrc yeah, ive looked into it, and its looking as bad as my dyna storm build 😂
I will eat my hat if this thing doesn't come first on the orchard raceway, ps hope u do your own thing with the body, box art looks a little boring with this kit, i went, TRF style with mine, white, pink and metallic blue, I do hope she drives as good as she looks, like I say I've never even driven mine yet🙈, ps. TTP do a 12mm hex conversion for the rear if that helps 👍👊
Thanks Carl. I have some of those rear hexes ready for the ultimate boss build in a few years when someone topples this one!! We are going with a nice iridescent paint job on this one 😎
