Love this video Fil! To see you go through the whole process of thinking up the design and just going with the creative flow, working round the little mistakes and in the end just proving how cool it is just to dive in and make something different. Same goes for the wheel wrapping. The end result? Bloody awesome, dude! Man this is gonna be a fantastic buggy to drive, and to watch blasting around a track. More of this excellent stuff please! Cheers! 😎👌👊👍
Thanks for that great comment, Mark! It really is quite enjoyable to let the creative juices flow sometimes, whether the end result is good or gross, it's nice to get creative. 😀 I'm hesitant to get to the track, because I know it's gonna suck me back into racing, lol! Ah, decisions, decisions... 🤣🍻👊🏼
The buggy looks cool Fil. It's amazing how nice those Tamiya shocks transformed the looks and performance of the buggy. I think the skate park would be a good fit for the Durga lol.
Yeah those nice Tamiya aeration dampers really brighten up the whole buggy, and the dampening on them is so nice and smooth... It's silky! Haha! Cheers pal!
Lookin good! Mate, those wheels really jump out and poke you in the eye 🤣. Nicely done! 👌 I did the same with my Losi XXX-T. The chrome was peeling off the wheels so I used chrome Vinyl on them. Works a treat! 👍
Yeah it's a little different, but it's pretty sweet, it's really grown on me. Glad to hear you did the same thing. It's pretty awesome what you can do with vinyl wrap these days. 👍🏻🍻
Awesome paint job, and it's very cool you show us how you did it. The wheels now remind of some 1960's psychedelic thing 🙃 Too bad Tamiya don't make buggies like this anymore. I would like an DB01 RRR but they are so rare. I was to slow when the RRR was for sale :( You really should go racing again, it's so great. Much better than sand for this buggy 😉
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching! And yeah, I really should try out racing again, it's been a long time, but I do remember it being a lot of fun.
Yeah it's kind of a rare bird. Maybe because the TRF501x overshadowed it? Or the horrible box art? I dunno, but I'll tell ya, it's one heck of a nice kit! 👍🏻😁
Great build Fil. I had the same issues with the mask. I couldn't see why it bleeded. It was presed tight everywhere the body. Maybe they're really designed for airbrushes or really thin layers. I like the wrapping idea. Have some here, but neber got the idea to put them on rims. Your's looking better than boxart, somehow fresher.
I love the non box art choice of colours. It reminds me of Jenson Button's 2009 F1 title winning Brawn GP car. .. Keep up with your excellent content Fil. 😎
Haha, gotta keep you guessing, Paul! It's the only way to keep our relationship interesting! 🤣🤣🤣 Glad you like the Durga! It's a little funky, but funky is cool, funky is back, baby! 🤣👊🏼
Fantastic job Fil, and an interesting one to follow along with! Like you, I usually go box art..... But, sometimes it's real fun to just go off on one freestyle, and let those creative juices flow! This one definitely worked mate, a lot of time and effort went into that paint job, but the end result was well worth it. Just loving the neon colours, very 'eighties'!!! And those wheels look very trippy indeed, just like the nineties.... but that's another story!! Interesting looking buggy that I've heard lots about, but aren't particularly familiar with..... One things for sure, I prefer the look of that to the standard box art for sure. Great job man! 👍 👍 👍
Thanks James! It was definitely fun to colour outside of the lines on this one. My wife made a good suggestion after I was done editing my video. She said the wheels looked like CD's, and I should label them like old burnt CD's from back in the day. How'd I not think of that?!?! Lol! But yeah, it was a fun build, and I'm happy to hear you enjoy the final product. Hope you have a great week, my man! 👊🏼🍻
Awesome. Really good job on the body just using the cans. Love the wheels as well I think I will have to steal that idea. Your presentation as always Phill is spot on and chilled out. Nice work mate. Tom from Lutterworth England.
Thanks for the excellent comment, my man! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. And feel free to use the wrap idea, I think you'll be very pleased with the end result! 😉👊🏼
Love the paint job looks sweet as I love a good creative paint job. I usually mark mine on the outside with a marker then you can follow the lines with tape on the inside. A bit of clear helps over the tape helps with the bleed, the rim wrap is unique and I like it 👌
@poorboysrc yeah you can free hand, measure or cut out some mask in paper then trace it. You should have a poor boys rc unique livery that you can use sometimes that be sweet.
very cool car and the plastic TRF and under rated ,just make sure the ball diffs are set a little tight as they can slip easy and the diff balls melt the gear/cog ,, looks super nice in yellow
Fil you absolutely knocked this one out the park dude! Those wheels are incredible and I am going to be steeling that idea at some point brother. Great to see some love for the DB01. I have one in the store ready to build and you might have just encouraged me to pull it up the queue!! That paint work looks great pal even with the over spray issues. Might be my favourite Poor Boy original dude 🙌🏻
Ah you're gonna love putting her together, Craig! No gearboxes! Just a couple diffs and a couple belts. So cool! Have fun with your build, buddy! Let those creative juices flow! 😁👌👊🏼🍻🍻🍻
Nice one. Runned a DB01R a while ago (some options included, but same geometry wise) which I sold for nothing (what a stupid move...). Please try to do some laps on your local tracks 😊 I have no problem with the boxart, but yours is awesome and the wrapped wheels is a good idea. Take care 😊
Hey! Yeah the creative choice is certainly shining here on this one. I really like the flashy wrapped wheels, as well as the dot stencil details choice. I am about to start a TT-02BR and I fear being up in eastern Canada ( the most easterly possible) that I won't be able to run it for some time outside, and, there are no indoor ( or outdoor ) RC tracks on the island.... Oh well! Rock on dude!
Have fun with the TT02BR build, what a great platform that is! And yeah, seems most of us are gonna be cooped up in our homes for the next few months, building, and dreaming of warmer days. Haha. Which eastern rock are you on? I'm on Vancouver Island, so while we don't get the snow and cold Temps you'll get, we get all the rain. 😭🍻👊🏼
@@poorboysrc Ah Van Island! I was just there last spring for a jaunt and some RC crawling! I am in Newfoundland, as far away from you I could get before headed over seas lol. I was looking for some TT02-BR build vids for tips but not much out there... Cheers!

Im digging the wheels 👌 nice to see you go through the paint, i may look at upping my spray game on a few bodys. That mesh stuff looks like it will help give a pro look to my rattle can specials 😂
ya buddy! you nailed it on everything you did on this build! awesome! time will tell how long the wrap will hold up once it gets some scrapes and dings on it when you get a chance to run it. yep, winter sucks, but great time to build and enjoy the hobby. btw, did you get a new hairdryer for the wife for xmas since you have been using hers? lol. cheers and see you in the next vid! also, i've never tried running on a carpet track since there's nothing around this area so henceforth, i don't have a buggy to run one on.
I was lucky, she upgraded her hair dryer, so I got her old one. It works great for RC, and reminds me of the days I had hair.... Ah to be young again... lol!
@@poorboysrc when you where working on the body you said that you where doing it on the Fly. Goldberg was predictive text I did not realise that changed from Goldberg.
The body looks great, but not liking it we all do that and decals do save the day. I do not buy the top end buggies as I only bash, plus they have a thing I do not like normally fitted ball-diffs. cool wrapping the wheels, would a compass cutter help as you could cut a disc the right size to just lip over the rim. Then you can cut a smaller hole for the middle, just a thought. Posh shocks 🙂
I agree, ball-diffs are a major issue for me, too. I never seem to have good luck with them. And yeah, a nice cutter tool would make that wheel wrap job a lot quicker and cleaner, that's for sure. I was just experimenting with it. If I decide to continue wrapping parts, I might buy a nice cutter. 👊🏼
Color scheme is awesome bro. You are an artist.
