- Thunderhawk at Michigan's Adventure is considered one of the smoother Vekoma SLCs out there. This inverted roller coaster was relocated from Geauga Lake and it has a great setting next to the water. And the ride looks great with its new paint job.
Wheeeeeeeeeee! I imagine it being so funnnnnnn! I can't wait to try it!!!!
It can be rough, so be warned.
@@CanobieCoaster oh no!!!! I def noticed shivering timbers getting much harder on my hips and joints as i got older 🥺 was hoping that by being a metal coaster this one would be smoother. Dangit!
The new colors look much nicer
Imagine when it fades
It looks great.
Just rode this last month and it was my first SLC and it was amazing. I went in with low expectations and was blown away. I know people say this is one of “the better ones,” but everything from elements to the pacing were awesome and intense. I sat from row, which may have helped, but still. Great coaster.
This one is a tad smoother.
The people and many enthusiasts who rode all Vekoma SLCs in the world with the over the shoulder restraints, rode Blue Tornado at Gardaland. Both Thunderhawk at Michigan's Adventure and Blue Tornado at Gardaland used similar bulky over the shoulder restraints, the most notable differences...
The Gardaland one has less padding.
RIP Wicked Twister, you will be missed :(
That has nothing to do with this footage
It's not one I usually ride there.
It started at Geauga Lake. During the 1990s, Geauga Lake was under Premier (Six Flags) ownership, who they had an expansion of transforming it into a Six Flags park. One of the first parts of the expansion was Geauga Lake getting a Vekoma SLC, a cheap, compact and marketable coaster easy to clone at many parks around the world. The Vekoma SLC would be named Serial Thriller. Serial Thriller opened at Geauga Lake in...

and those over the shoulder restraints...
Cause a lot of headbanging.
This park could benefit from an RMC Raptor. It's a very cheap investment and would be a nice standout.
Agreed!
Very under rated ride. Smoothest slc I have ridden
I'm not a fan of it due to the restraints.
@@CanobieCoaster I hold my head all the way forward out of the restraint and get zero head banging. I'll take them any day over an awful B&M vest restraints
After Six Flags sold Six Flags Worlds of Adventure during the 2003-2004 season, Cedar Fair purchased the park and renamed again to Geauga Lake. The rides at Geauga Lake had its related themes removed. Serial Thriller, the Vekoma SLC at Geauga Lake, was renamed...

I think this is the best one that I have the ridden, I was there July 10-11. Last time I rode this was at Geauga Lake in 97
I'm not a fan of any of the SLCs with the bulky restraints even if this one is a bit smoother.

When Serial Thriller opened at Geauga Lake in 1998, did many or most enthusiasts love it, praise it, like it, and why?
Most found it rough.
I was referring to the year Serial Thriller, the Vekoma SLC, opened at Geauga Lake
What about it? I don't see the comment once I reply to it.
Great view from across the lake
Very true!
If you know how to brace for it, this is a fun and intense ride. I know these models aren't the smoothest, but I enjoy this one.
I jam my head to one side of the restraint. But it still isn't comfortable.
@@CanobieCoaster I just push my head back against the head rest and I'm able to keep it in place. I would give it a 5/10. It's no gem, but it's intensity makes it fun to me.

Very similar.

No, it is rough.
Was it always named Thunderhawk?
At Michigan's Adventure. It went by Serial Thriller for a while at Geauga Lake.
Hey, Canobie Coaster! I have extremely sad news. Cedar Point is saying "Hasta la visa, baby!" to Wicked Twister on Labor Day.
I rarely ride it given how stacked that park's coaster lineup is.
Maybe Wicked Twister will get moved to this park?
It would fit well.
Why are all suspended slcs the same?
Because during the years, mainly in the 90's/early 2000's, parks wanted them because they were cheap and compact, to add a thrill coaster to their lineups. So Vekoma cloned them again and again, parks kept buying them, and so they spread all around the world
Some have helixes and different trains. Then Kumali has a unique layout.
No more McDonald’s colors :(
The new paint looks good.

In What?
Ah yes we have the dumpster of cedar fair parks. It's sad when. Vekoma slc is in your top 3. I like vekoma slcs but they shouldn't be top 3 lol.
I don't have this in the top 3 here. I prefer the other coasters.
