What always impresses me about Mitch’s voice is how sweet and pure it is. Many high voices I find uncomfortable, his voice is never shrill or sharp, just lovely.
I agree! I generally don't like tenors (in church choir we used to say they sound like they have a broomstick up their butts). Mitch sounds like an angel - so smooth, effortless, pure.
I don't know if you want to react to this or just watch on your own, but pentatonix has a making of the Evergreen album (where this song is a part of) as a great behind the scenes video. They had to record the whole album in 2 weeks. Mitch is special. There are not many counter tenors in the world and he is one of the best giving such a light effortless sound that high in pitch.
Personally I am not a huge Celine Dion fan. I appreciate her talent. But not my particular taste. I love Andrea Botticelli. The first time I heard this song it was actually on the Quest for Camalot cartoon movie. And I fell in love with it then. And now as a mother I appreciate it even more. I appreciated the Celine and Andrea version, but I preferred the movie version to theirs, personally. PTX made me fall in love with it all over again 🥰
Love the grins and smiles people get when they hear Mitch in this!! You need to check out Mitch's solo cover of Your Power by Billie Eilish!!! He is so angelic and perfect oin it. Do the version with the piano backing in it.
Okay, names. The guy with the angelic high voice is Mitch Grassi (pronounced Grah'-see, emphasis on the first syllable). The tall blond guy who sang in Italian is Scott Hoying. The woman is Kirstin Maldonado. That's Kirstin, not Kristin. The easiest way to remember is that she's also called Kirstie, which rhymes with thirsty. The beatboxer is Kevin Olusola (pronounced Oh-loosh"-oh-luh', primary emphasis on the second syllable, secondary emphasis on the fourth). The bass is Matt Sallee (pronounced Suh-lee', emphasis on the second syllable). Matt is new to the group; he joined either late in 2017 or early in 2018, after their original bass, Avi (pronounced Ah'-vee, emphasis on the first syllable) Kaplan resigned, for personal reasons. Avi is a bearded white guy; many people think he looks like Jesus.
Nice reaction!! Scott Hoying ( the baritone who sings Andrea Bocelli's part), Mitch Grassi ( the countertenor who took on Celine Dion's part) and Kirstin ( Kirstie) Maldonado ( the lady with the blond curls) went to high school together. The guys have been friends since they were 10, Kirstie met them a couple of years later. They did all their musical training in the years before graduating school, eventually forming a singing group.... The Trio... and likely would have continued in college, but they entered a competition for acapella groups, recruited Avi Kaplan and Kevin Olusola and won the competition. The rest is PTX history. Suggestions for what to do next: Coffee In Bed (original), Come Along, Be My Eyes (original), Prayers For This World, Over The River, Run To You (original), Love Again (original).
@@carolynl.higgins6206, I was only discussing the group's formative years, not the later ones. The reactor seemed interested in Scott, Mitch and Kirstie, so I provided info on how long they three had been together.
@@Gwennedd I understand your comment completely, but I also understand the response about Matt. There seems to be a small minority who are biased against Matt. So when Avi is discussed without mention of Matt, for a video with Matt in it, knee jerk reactions might show up. I am not criticizing your comment, but just explaining the response to it. Cheers from a fellow Pentaholic.
this is a celine dion/andrea boccelli cover. they sing such a big variety of music; original music as well. you might like 'happy now' or 'sing' or 'light in the hallway'. they also do a lot of medleys and mash ups. 'la la latch' is my favorite.
I can't tell you how they manage to imbue their music with such feeling; I suspect that a lot of it has to do with things like vibrato, which I don't understand well. What I *can* tell you is that the songs I sing best are the ones I personally have strong feelings about, and those feelings come through when I sing the song. And I think that is true for all singers.
I totally agree! It's just very surprising how you can really feel the emotions with such talented singers, one that does this so well and which comes to my mind immediately is Chris Stapleton, you really feel his voice - so amazing! All the best to you!😄
Scott, the blonde, is VERY emotional when he sings. Make a cheat sheet and bring it out when you react to a specific band. Kirstie, rhymes with thirsty, is obviously the female. Mitch has the high voice. Matt is the bass on the far right, and Kevin is the beat boxer on the far left. I look forward to your other Pentatonix (aka PTX) reactions.

As much as I love and appreciate Mitch and his beautiful gift…..we need more Baritone Scott…Italian or not.
Nice reaction to this beautiful Pentatonix video. Thank you.

Yeah, the full title is “Pentatonix - The Recording Of Evergreen”. Very enjoyable.
Interesting oversight of Matt Sallee bass singer who was chosen by winning his spot over dozens in 2017. Matt is a Berklee School of Music graduate.

That's cool that they knew each other for so long!
I put the suggestions on my list, thank you!😄

Scott, Kirstie and Mitch all did musical theater as kids.
Matt performed theater as a child. It also helped that his father was the church's Minister of Music.

That's a very good idea which I should follow, thank you!😄
