    I believe you forget to mention that nearly all HH attacks do exaust damage, mainly that backwards slam. Also, it is usefull for new players to remember Gaijin Hunter's Imperative on HH: playing songs must be a consequence of attacking, not the other way around. The idea is to hit monsters while you set and play songs (as shown in the end of the video) not to sit in a corner.

    Hey man I love your videos. I shared your channel on my mh4u group page, due to the fact that these are some of the more in depth tutorials out there, but you still make it easy to understand all of the mechanics. Keep up the good work. You deserve a lot more subs btw. People share this channel.

  • @end3964

    It is the Teostra set and horn. The Toestra horn is only available from upgrading "rusty" weapons found by mining rarely. It is also important to note (pun intended) that the horn also has arguably the least defense at least against being physically hit. This is because whenever you play, the monster will focus on you. So being stuck slightly in a song is deadly. Also you cannot attack without playing a note. Meaning that users of this weapon must always be thinking ahead.

    anyone know if fighting a monster with a full group as apposed to just me & a friend with our Palicos makes the monster tougher? As in, it takes more hits & does more damage the more ppl against it? Or is it the same, you kill it faster with 4 players than with 1 other & your Palicos?

    • @DrBob66
      @DrBob66 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, so here's some details on how that works according to the monster hunter wiki
      Let's say you play defense boost small, it lasts 2 minutes. this is it's maximum duration. you can increase this maximum duration with an armor skill, but let's assume you don't have that skill.
      Playing the same song while the defense boost small is still active will give you defense boost bonus. This will extend the duration of the buff, but not refresh it completely. In fact, defense boost bonus extends the duration by 90 seconds. However, it cannot extend the duration past it's maximum duration.
      So for example, with a maximum duration of 2 minutes, you can play the song again and get defense boost bonus within 90 seconds of playing the song for the first time, and it will refresh it back to maximum (Since it will add 90 seconds but it can't go past the original 2 minute duration). On the other hand, if you wait until the original buff has 5 seconds left on it, then play it again, it will extend it by 90 seconds, giving you 95 seconds of the enhanced buff effect.
      You can see the list of songs and their durations here: monsterhunter.wikia.com/wiki/MH4U:_Horn_Melodies

    Arekkz Gaming there is any problem to use the hunting horn in solo ?

    • @TheCinyMini
      @TheCinyMini 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I played a long time hunting horn in mh4u. There aren't any specific problems if you want to play solo. One thing I felt more comfortable while playing online was when the monsters were distracted by my teammates. Sometimes it's difficult to play songs + encore without getting hit by the monsters especially against fast ones, but you can get used to it. I think you can compare it with the charging move for the great sword? It also takes some time to be able to evade after playing a song, especially because you can't interupt the playing itself.

    I'm new to hunting horn, and i want to ask a question about the better way to use it.
    Should it be seen only as a support weap or it can also do considerable damage? I mean: if i need a [shitty attack] note in order to end a song, but i have the opportunity to use a [strong attack] on that motherfucker's head, should i end the song (but losing the opportunity) or hit the weak point (but fucking up the song)?

    • @TheEvilMrDark
      @TheEvilMrDark 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Short version: It's up to you and your judgement, but every weapon should attempt to do damage and in the hands of a skilled user can deal out the pain.
      Long Version:
      The hunting horn, like all monster hunter weapons, can do considerable damage when used effectively. One of the reasons I fell in love with it was a video of a hunter soloing a G rank Brachy in 7 minutes in MH3U with it. I tried it out and had a blast with it, especially if you can KO a monster in a pitfall and it just stays in there even longer.
      With this is mind, depending on the song they do last a while, even longer if you get the Horn Maestro skill. While you can play as a "buff bot" or something with the horn, it does your weapon and your team a great disservice. For example, not really pointed out here, but the horn does KO damage (not as much as a hammer) when striking the head of a monster. It does exhaust damage when striking the body. If possible when you won't be punished for it, connecting with the notes and the song part will do fair KO damage, though it takes considerable practice and some luck to be able to hit with the encore without getting punished or missing. You can change up the encore attack and time if you hold left or right when you hit R as well as well as the way you will evade.
      Staying nearby is also critically important so you're not undermining your team's efforts by standing too far away (nobody likes having to stop dealing damage because the monster is chasing someone who is too scared/inexperienced to be near the monster). The hunting horn also has considerable vertical reach as well, so can reach the heads of a higher up monster. Sometimes if there is another KO dealer on your team, that could be all you need to finish the KO and send the monster reeling.
      Going back to your original point, you can always combo back into the song unless your team need it right now. Ideally you should be near the monster at any opportunity which it is safe to do so, but that is mostly determined by your experience and skill with the horn, and also the mission. In arena missions, the opportunity to play the songs are rarer, even more so for the song and encore.
      I'm not a horn expert but that is mostly my experience with the horn.

      Pasta DellaNonna I remember reading in a forum back when hunting horn just came out, in MHUnite, that the maestro attacks (the attacks that actually plays the notes accumulated from regular strikes) had the highest damage output in the game and also did significant KO damage. That info is what originally got me into HH but I found it difficult to really incorporate it into G rank quests. I'm not sure if this is still true for MH4U, but it really would be a huge draw of the weapon. It may still be, since as mentioned above, someone solo'd a G rank Brachy in 7 minutes in 3U.

      Sadly haven't gotten much time with MH4U, but Hunting Horn, from how I've played, is still the most useful weapon I find. Glaive is... alright, but the Kinsect is hard to control properly, and isn't that great, and the new Charge Blade is kinda meh, I find.
      The Songs and Hunting Horn's Power are, IMO, the best.
