    The difference in cucumbers is that you dont have to peel the english ones (they aren't bitter).

    You will probably have to doctor up the beef stew a little bit. You could put both cans in a baking dish and cover with the corn muffin mix or the mashed potatoes for a "Shepherds pie." You can also add a little honey or a litle spice to the corn muffin mix. I've done both, and it really adds to the flavor. ❤

      @pegwax-oha8909 I appreciate you! I do acknowledge that there are some out there getting boxes from food banks that its their only source of food. I do try to state that this box is only supplemental and is how my food bank is set up to provide. Im sure the trolls would ne more heated if I let things go to waste instead. Thank u for ur support!!

    You can blend an egg, cheese, a little milk, 1 or 2 tbsp of flour, salt and pepper and seasonings (we like Italian or poultry seasoning) and add bread crumbs a little at a time until it forms a sticky dough that can be formed into patties that can be baked but are much better fried. If you're feeling extra, you can roll them in a mixture of bread crumbs and grated Parmesan cheese before frying. Serve with a dip or pasta sauce

      Juicing them is a great option probably will zest them first. I looked it up and you can freeze citrus zest for up to 3 months so lots of options here.

    In mixes, I often toss the seasoning packets due to sodium and or flavor. I use the pasta. Sometimes, I rinse it right before cooking and use it that way. ❤

    This may seem crazy but I promise, it really does work. It may be that someone at the factory messed up by adding too much citric acid to the peas or putting it in too early in the cooking process. Try adding a pinch of baking soda to those canned peas and boiling them. Once they're as soft as you want them to be, drain and prepare as usual. If you can taste baking soda, just stir in a tiny bit of vinegar or lemon juice. It should completely get rid of that taste.
    This works for any beans or legumes that refuse to soften. Some people prefer to add the baking soda to the soaking water instead of the water they boil them in, but I've never tried that myself.

    Wasn't that a butternut or marrow squash? I thought acorn squash was round and dark green, but I could be mistaken

    • @KalexyQuest
      @KalexyQuest  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nope you are right I looked it up and yep its a butternut squash and the white one is a pattypan which I usually see as flatter and almost ruffled around the edges but apparently they can be round like this too

    • @mustwereallydothis
      @mustwereallydothis หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @KalexyQuest This one, I'm actually sure about. The white one is a miniature Casper pumpkin. Or some other variety of miniature white pumpkin. Patty Pans are summer squash with soft, edible skin like zucchini. They're also quite flattened out and are normally pale yellow, though I have grown pale green ones before. I grow them every summer.

    • @mustwereallydothis
      @mustwereallydothis หลายเดือนก่อน

      As far as what to do with that white pumpkin, you can cut it in half and roast it in the oven until soft and either serve it with butter, salt and pepper, or add it to a soup. If you make butternut squash soup, you can add it to that. They taste quite similar when cooked.

      Thank you so much for commenting on my video and helping my channel grow! Yes I like to be completely honest on this series and want to encourage others to share items they might get that they dont like. Lots of people tend to stay quiet and food goes to waste so thank you for bringing up that point. I hope that more people are honest about things like this and reach out to friends or family to not only share things they dont like or try to find recipes that might make things they hate taste amazing.
