That was a fascinating wander! Pembroke Castle seems to be all about stairs! So many stairs and tiny nooks and the layout makes no sense today! Dear darling Sherpa is such a trooper! He gave it his all didn’t he? Such a wonderful good boy. Love him to bits. Thanks again Jamie for taking this elderly lady to a place I would never get to see otherwise! Loved going along with you two!! 🥰💙🏰💙🤗☮️

You've been to Wells on Sea? There's a new ice cream parlor especially for dogs that's opened there! It was on the news today, but none of the visitors with their dogs could get them to eat it on camera, or talk. Immediately Sherpa came to my mind. He would've had no issue with taking to the camera crew!

Fantastic wander, the castle and grounds are mesmerizing. The dynamic duo it did again, stirring up interest in far away places and showing us the most wonderful things. The more I see of Wales the more wonderful it appears.
In spite of needed limits making some areas inaccessible for him, Sherpa did remarkably well. He's in great shape, Jamie is certainly taking good care of him. I'm sure one of the main contributing factors is he gets plenty of exercise; unlike most dogs and too many people.
Pembroke castle was yet another special video treat and one that I'll have to revisit. (Typo edit)

Jamie, I don't think those buildings were there when the castle was active. They would give an attacker an advantage by providing protection against arrows and other missiles coming from the castles defenders.

Those stairs were so thin I think that's why Sherpa didn't want to go up them I don't blame him I would have struggled too 😄

Ahh Sherpa, those stairs were quite difficult, very narrow but you took them by storm! Much better than I could have!

The castle was amazing but the views were even more magnificent. Those stairs though we're killers. I would compare them to the stairs on the temple of the Sun at the Aztec ruins in Mexico City. Only difference is walls. Sherpa really had a good workout with all those stairs. Thanks for sharing this wonderful experience with us.

Poor Sherpie that was a lot of little steps, such a sweetheart not complaining and trying to just keep going. 🥰😘 And you’re a good daddy for realizing it was a bit much for him even though he tried not to let on, he didn’t want to disappoint or let you down. I've always wanted to visit here with it being the birthplace of Henry 7th. (Although the castle was built alot earlier in 1093). I love anything related to the war of the roses and the Tudor's.

Do you have either National Trust or English Heritage membership? In Wales they have CADW for many castles and historic sites, if you are an English heritage member you are able to go in and see the sites under CADW for free
So Cool. that is one huge castle. Built to withstand. Those stairs are so narrow and steep. If you were a servant imagine going up and down and all around that. Geeez !. Can you imagine living in that structure back in the day ?
What a lovely video! I felt like I was in the castle. Your filming is so good Jamie. Makes you realise how big the castle is. As I've said before, for those of us who can't get about anymore, we can feel like we are actually there. And having Lord Sherpa as a tour guide is an added bonus.
I'm with sherpa, I would rather hang out at the gift shop then climb those steep stairs. Midevil folks must have been in good shape to have climbed those.

The small room beside the banquet hall is probably the toilet. But back in the day the Castle Owners didn't have to worry about paying taxes as they were usually collecting it.
What a gorgeoua day and beautiful castle and scenery! You have to go to a few more in Wales- moat are replicas but there's one with drawbridge and moat, one like a Disney fairytale, one where they have re-enactmentments- there are lots that belong to the Welsh equivalent of the National Trust!
