Great video. I grew up in the Midwest (Indiana and Chicago) and in my 20s travelled the country for work and always asked my myself "Where would I like to live, money no object?" Within a short period of time I determined my Top 3 favorite locations nationwide were all in California: Montecito, Newport Coast and Carmel. Ultimately, moved to Newport Coast in 2003 and lived there through 2017. In 2015 purchased a house in Carmel; and currently reside in Carmel. Have not owned a house yet in Montecito, but have enjoyed visiting many times over the years.
Many of the Pros and Cons you list are basically identical to Carmel: beautiful and unique but expensive with wildfire/natural disaster risk. The one thing I would enjoy about Montecito (over Carmel) would be that a day trip to LA would be easily feasible. We sometimes miss Los Angeles and Orange County; we generally don't have any desire to visit the San Francisco area. Newport Coast was/is better than both Carmel and Montecito in two major ways: 1) If you want/need to earn a lot of money, Newport Beach is surrounded by major commerce and airports. Carmel and Montecito are good places to move to after you made a lot of money or for second homes. 2) Newport Beach infrastructure is maintained flawlessly by the Irvine Company; Carmel and Montecito have better character but can sometimes seem a little shabby in some places relatively speaking. Though we have zero desire to ever move back to Newport. The biggest issue with Newport is that even with extraordinary amounts of money, you generally can't get away from neighbors.

Spot on my friend. A great point you made that I often neglect to mention in my videos about living on the south coast of Santa Barbara county, is the proximity to Los Angeles. Like you mentioned, day trips are fully doable as well as quick overnights.
Amazing you have been able to check two of your three top spots, congratulations! If you get bored and want to come preview some Montecito properties please reach out, or even if you just want to grab coffee the next time you’re in town here. 🤙 805-886-5735

While growing up there I took advantage of EVERYTHING! From boating to the islands, The many beautiful beaches, All the natural hot springs (tea gardens), all the wonderful parks, And all the way to Santa Ynez valley.
I was so Blessed to be able to grow up in Santa Barbara 😊.
I also worked from the El Encanto to San Ysidro Ranch. I got to meet so many famous people while working there.
It’s got to be one of the BEST places to live in.
Thank you Joe Parker for another awesome video today. Blessings, Carlos ✝️🙏❤️😊🇺🇸

Thank you as always my friend, Carlos. When I was a kid I use to love to go to Los Banos pool aka The Plunge. Later I got into restaurants while in college. I was at Cava, Piatti, and Downey’s. I too saw many campo people in the restaurants. Thank you for your support.

I gladly subscribe to your TH-cam channel. It is a great source of information as well as an inspiration for visualization of the way you fit into the community. I am employed by a national clothing retailer who just signed a lease for a retail location on Coast Village Rd. I currently am at their location at Carmel By the Sea. I may relocate to help them open their Montecito store. I am not in the market to buy but would appreciate your insight on rentals or home sharing options. I can email you to give you further information if you need it...keep up the good work with the channel.Thanks.

Joe, I love your drone footage of the montecito foothills. I’m working on a project and have been looking at all the stock footage sites. There’s very little. May I ask where you got the footage and if they’re shareable?

I have a videographer. Unfortunately he just left for college at Berkeley. I may be able to help you out depending on the nature of the project. If you want, hit me up on my cell at 805-886-5735 to chat about it.

I have been to that property, not on my channel but it’s an interesting one. Happy to set up an appointment at church if you’re in town.
