    You mentioned Burungai Sonko,what was Burungai’s real name and what other features are in the water by fort bullen that were put their by Burungai?

      I'm sorry I don't know his real name

    • @dawdasonko2965
      @dawdasonko2965 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@youngchefproject9821 His real name is Fakebba Sonko,Burungai was a nickname given to her by her Serer mother.Also the features that Burungai placed in water near fort bullen are the stones you see during low tide,he was trying to build a bridge between Banjul and Barra,in most cases he will build half way only to come back the next day and found it collapse.Many people believed that because Burungai was a drunker and a pagan he challenges the power of God with the phrase”Whether God agrees or not he will build a bridge between Banjul and Barra”.The locals thought at that time it was the wrath of God that resulted into Burungai not being abled to build the bridge.

    Hello I am not a Gambian but I am interested in your history, I am just wondering was Essau within the "Ceded Mile"? On Google maps it looks like it would be.

      Essau was within the Ceded Mile and it was the administrative capital of Niumi,it was where most old military installations were and Portuguese settlers as early as 1600’s at a place called Essau Jiffetti.The remnants of those settlements were still visible even around the 1990’s.

    I think we are missing an important aspect of how Banjul was founded.Before Alexandra Grant arrived in Gambia the people and Kings of Essau where already frequenting Banjul by cutting Banjulo trees to build benches and beds out of it,that’s how Banjul got its name.But no Alexandra grant was just a settler in Banjul not the founder.
