EVERY week for years and years. So would Dad approve ? He'd be amazed !... but it would probably be "extravagant" and "indulgent"... and he'd go out and pick some potatoes and carrots and beans for supper out of his garden... ...but ... later on... I know he'd watch this again over and over and dream about having the space for a den with this against a wall... along with the AMT USS Enterprise, Romulan Warbird and Klingon Cruiser, and Phaser, Communicator and Tricorder he bought and made for me to play with as a kid... ... yeah... I could see that...
Oh man as a kid I dreamed also of a big beautiful lit up starship Enterprise too. 50 years later it's here. I could have built one years ago but other things got in the way. Another reason this ship is worth it. Star Trek showed me the could be a positive future especially when the present wasn't so great back then sometimes. Good Star Trek memories, good present times.
Oh how nice it must be for you to remember your dad and his love of you and now your love of the show he loved. Did that make sense? Anyway, what I read was a proud son fondly remembering their dad. Maybe you could get one and display it in his honor, something you can leave to someone you love someday. Good luck and thanks for the window into your dads life. Cheers.

This is easily the most detailed and accurate model of the original U.S.S. Enterprise ever created. The detail of the bridge and hangar bay is stunning, and it’s a wonder to behold when the ship is lit up. It’ll definitely increase in value over time as I doubt another Enterprise model this detailed will ever be made.
@@unitruth It does have its flaws besides the screw cap covers…..for one the sensor probe never existed on the studio model so if you did break it off that would have been fine as it’s not supposed to be there in the first place. And second the bridge is not offset by 36 degrees to port as in the Franz Joseph blueprints and no doubt there are other mistakes as well since it’s based on the “restored” model that’s in the Smithsonian and they added a lot of mistakes that the filming studio model never had.

I would love to have this and see the later Enterprises as well, but crowdfunders tend to be out of reach for me. Hope you enjoy this for a long time.
Thank you for the comment. Since this is based on the Smithsonian filming model the bridge was never shown from the outside of the ship. It was a crowdfunding project that is over but you may still be able to get one by calling the Tomy outlet store and being asked to put on a waiting list
I am disappointed in the screw hole covers and the seams. I own a Master Replica 1/350 Enterprise and there are zero gap and screw hold issues. Granted it cost twice as much on release, but that was also in 2006, technology has changed since then. The should have put the screw holds on the bottom of the engineering hull, this way you place it upside down on the nacelles if you need to remove the bottom for any electrical issues. I think TOMY was upset they didn't crown fund more. But the limited this to USA only and cut down on collectors. So they started to "cut some corners". It is by far not an inferior product, IMO the detailed bridge and they shuttle pay along with the saucer separation are the high points and offset the screw hole/covers and seams. So I will have the best of the two "holy grails" of Trek collecting, the Master Replica 1/350 and now the TOMY 1/350.
There is only 5000 I believe. And those that are listed for 1500 on ebay actually sold at that amount. Remember, this was only released in the US, there are collectors around the world that would love to have one. TOMY did pose a question of what the fans would like to see next, and I believe the Refit/A won with the D a close second. But the "success" of this one may scare them away from doing either one.
On the Tomy enterprise website it shows how much money they raised $1,786,250 and when I divided by $599 it comes out to 2982 units sold. Of course I don't know how many were canceled because they didn't have the money and then I don't know how many were canceled recently by people being upset. I've been watching the ones up for sale on eBay and the ones I am watching, none of them have sold yet for the $1500. I'm sure there are people outside of the US that want one badly so some of them might sell, I guess I'll see. A lot of people aren't aware I guess but they're 2nd party shipping services available, I think it probably costs Alot, I don't know. If somebody wanted one they could use a friend in the states, I know trekyards Foley did that since he's in Canada.
Yes I agree with you the chances are lower for getting a 1/350 refit due to the negativity ,which some of it is bonafide, but alot of it was unnecessary. On the other hand most people are absolutely delighted it appears and the refit would be more popular. I guess we'll see.
@@unitruth You have to go to completed listings. There are a few that sold for 1701.00. Also 2982 units are a lot lower than the 5000 I was assuming. And you are correct now that i think about it, they kept extending the crowd funding deadline and lowering the amount needed to produce.
@@philipgolia9803 go to completed listings? I'll try that, the app for eBay won't show it I'll have to look on my computer.$ 1701 how ironic. Yes you are correct they kept extending the deadline.
@unitruth I believe you are right. The original goal was 5000 units. They had trouble getting those backers and ended up halving the goal. So they ended up with somewhere near 3000 units.
The Enterprise Refit would have an enormous advantage over the TOS Constitution Enterprise. Have a one inch square diecast or box aluminum tube internal skeleton structure that the two longitudinal halves of the Secondary hull and connecting dorsal screw onto from BOTH sides. Or make it a three piece secondary hull with the two longitudinally screwed together hull pieces from Deck 13 down to deck 19 and then the bottom screwed UP into the other two pieces from deck 20 to 21.The Primary hull could easily hide the screws covered by the four landing strut pads with a fifth screw where the batteries would go hidden by the primary sensor dome. And because they could use the travel pod docking ports for at least four of the screw holes (and make these caps magnetic for the closed port OR docked travel pod), the Starfleet insignias just rear of the Main Deflector caps two more screw holes and maybe the windows for the Botanical section could be non wired but a contact plate piece that could be removed with small screws behind them. And then throw two more screws aft under the the Nacelle pylons with square hull plates hiding the screw holes rather than round caps that magnetically attach to complete the integrity of the hull ... OR... have the Secondary hull internal skeleton like I suggested, but have more lengths of hull plate removable with small magnets over a recessed internal false hull with the requisite screw points, so that you can swap out pristine or battle damaged hull plate sections for a The Motion Picture or Wrath of Khan / Search for Spock look ! Oh and for the love of GOD make separate The Motion Picture / Wrath of Khan / Search for Spock refit Enterprises with their non-nacelled shuttlecraft and The Voyage Home / Final Frontier / Undiscovered Country.Enterprise - A's with the silly nacelled shuttles. Also... I LOVED that there weren't stand holes in the Eaglemoss / Hero Collector Star Trek ships ! imagine... instead of Starfleet insignia plastic stands... a flat black star field base plate with transparent cradle for the bottom of the Secondary hull and a Motion Picture / Wrath of Khan style drydock with light booms that swing in with transparent plastic lips that support the Primary Saucer and Nacells... you just swing back the light booms and slide the baseplate with supported Enterprise out like it was leaving drydock at 1/4 impulse power !... ... One can dream... One can dream...
I think your comment here needs to be sent to Tomy. Hiding screw heads etc behind details is genius. There's a post in Facebook starship modeler group by Glen Swanson that Tomy have been and is listening. I'd love a magnetic dry dock inspection shuttle like the one Scotty and Kirk took in TMP. Like you I'm certain it could be done without noticable screw hole covers, just have to pre engineer with that thought in mind.
@@unitruth Oh yeah... well Thank You. But I'm not on Facebook... wont go into details lol, but if you want to send in a note that include my suggestions and yours as well, please feel free. You should have more impact as a fan who already owns one of their products and have talked to friends online about the screw hole issue, so again, please feel free. I don't go after any kind of recognition in my life... I just like to see the best products possible and this may be a way for fans like yourself to get that.
Yes on Facebook starship modeler group. Someone switched over to USB and there is a ribbon coming out of the battery compartments. The person was able to hide the ribbon to a certain degree
The fact that it's powered by old style batteries is a solid pass for me. With a base that huge they could have easily made it roun off a 9 or 5 v power source
In one of the pilots it showed a zoom in from space into the bridge and it is not offset. I'm assuming that's why they did it that way. The dome on the Smithsonian is not transparent, I believe.
After hearing all the complaints i was ready to send it back. The only way was to send it back unopened. I decided to keep it and it is AWESOME, best decision ever
Wow for 500+ US Dollers I would have thought that they could haave done a better job of hiding the screws, the covers (screw covers) look awful and that was the side that we always saw it from on TV. Althugh if I could get one I'm sure I could live with it!
really cool ship, but for the amount of money you pay, you'd think TOMY would've done a better job of taking care of the blemishes. i went and picked up a polar lights kit, and lights came with it cause it was a partial build, and i added more effects to it for way less than the asking price. course i'm not saying i'll do a commission build or anything lol!!!
the nacelle lights at the back are missing so are the registry lights on top and bottom of saucer and the delta lights on the sides of the secondry hull....
Tomy may not have hit a grand slam home run, but they still hit it out of the park! That is a beauty!

I think Tomy had an issue spreading the word, Alot of people weren't seated of this .
I stumbled upon it in my Facebook feed during the Kickstarter.
saucer suport should have been on the other side but for the money its not bad
Agreed
And then throw two more screws aft under the the Nacelle pylons with square hull plates hiding the screw holes rather than round caps that magnetically attach to complete the integrity of the hull
... OR... have the Secondary hull internal skeleton like I suggested, but have more lengths of hull plate removable with small magnets over a recessed internal false hull with the requisite screw points, so that you can swap out pristine or battle damaged hull plate sections for a The Motion Picture or Wrath of Khan / Search for Spock look !
@@paulwalsh2344 sure sir.
I will.
Thank you
Hey, thanks for not saying "Star Drive".
I need a work around for the batteries. Even my best rechargeables don't last long. Anyone do a conversation to ac yet?
Yes on Facebook starship modeler group.
Someone switched over to USB and there is a ribbon coming out of the battery compartments.
The person was able to hide the ribbon to a certain degree

The fact that it's powered by old style batteries is a solid pass for me. With a base that huge they could have easily made it roun off a 9 or 5 v power source
Someone is bound to convert theirs to AC power.
I'm actually glad TOMY didn't off-set the bridge.
Yes I understand, I was disappointed by the but I had to tell myself to wait until I had it in hand to make the decision.
We're both glad we waited
Horrible stand design way too bulky.
