This was a great single that Prince wrote for the Family. The whole album is good but this song was the hit! Thanks for uploading it so I can see a live version!
Sounds like they're playing along to a backing track. STILL SLAMMIN'! I remember laughing at Eric fake-playing the bass guitar when the video came out in 85. Prince is THA MAN! He laid a FUNKY classic down when he recorded this and his original version (same as this w/o the sax and with his guide vocal) is SLAMMIN!
This song and Nothing Compares To You, were great off of this album. When i heard Sinead O' Conner sing it. I was like The Family has been bamboozled. 👀👀👀
OH I LOVE THIS CLASSIC SONG FROM THEM, I LOVED THE VIDEO ALSO. I REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME I SAW THE VIDEO, IT WAS ABOUT 1:00 IN THE MORNING ,WAS SMOKING A JOINT JUST WATCHING VIDEO'S AND IT CAME ON, I FIRST NOTICED JEROME FROM "THE TIME"& THE DRUMMER, AND THAT BEAT, SOUND LIKE SOMETHING PRINCE WOULD PUT TOGETHER, AND THEIR DANCE MOVES, IT WAS ALL EYE CATCHING. COME TO FIND OUT THIS WAS ONE OF PRINCES PROJECT'S. THE OPENING MUSIC MADE ME PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE T.V. SCREEN, IT'S PRETTY & FUNKY ALL AT THE SAME TIME, REALLY SPECIAL, HAD ITS OWN UNIQUE SOUND & STYLE. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO THE RECORD STORE, OF COURSE THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF IT. THE THE GIRL TOLD ME SHE COULD TRY & ORDER IT FOR ME. WELL THEY GAVE ME A CALL WHEN IT CAME IN, IT WAS 2 SONGS ON A LARGE LP RECORD, YOU KNOW THE ONE'S LIKE THE DJ'S WOULD HAVE. ONE WAS ALL MUSIC /THE OTHER ONE WAS WITH THE SINGING. SHE PLAYED IT FOR ME OF COURSE BEFORE I BOUGHT IT. IT REALLY SOUND SO GOOD WITH THEIR SYSTEM & ALL THOSE SPEAKERS. 6 PEOPLE ASKED THE MANAGER "WHO'S THAT" AND OF COURSE THEY SAID "THE FAMILY ". THE STORE HAD ORDERED 10 COPY'S, ALONG WITH MINE THEY SOLD 7 RIGHT THERE. OH, BY THE WAY THEY PLAYED IT BACK TO BACK 3 TIMES WHILE I WAS IN THE STORE, THAT'S WHY EVERYONE WAS ASKING ABOUT IT. I CAN NEVER FORGET THAT NIGHT AS WELL AS THE DAY I PURCHASED IT.🎵🎵🎶🎼🎤🎧😎💖💯🔥♨👑💃😃
GREAT story! I remember running out and getting this on 45rpm with "Yes" on the B-Side (which would fit on a MADHOUSE album) and then later buying the album on cassette and 12" Vinyl. I still have the 45 and 12", but my tape deck ate up the tape, LOL!!!
When you stumble upon a DOPE AF Classic OMG!! 😳😮

Does anyone have the music video?
Love it! By the way, it's no longer 1985, y'all. You expecting a replica performance of the studio version or what?
He switched from keyboards to guitar
Sue gotta get the voice right she's supposed to add to Paul's vocals not bring them down🤫
