When I started roofing we did mostly IKO and Certainteed. And then about 5 or 6 years ago OC durations became big in my area. And I had never heard of Atlas shingles until I started watching roofing videos earlier this year. I prefer to use Certainteed Landmarks, and I've never had a problem with them.
Supplier has been short on certainteed weathered wood for some reason (which is a very popular choice in my area) so weve put on a few atlas roofs lately and I'm also a huge fan of the dbl seal + wider common bond+ more coverage per shingle. If you had all those things on a landmark PRO type thickness it'd be the best thing ever
I used castlebrook pewter on my own house i own a roofing company in kzoo mi. I wish i used my regular certainteeds. Atlas is a great shingle only thing is the castlebrook line has too basic of colors. Also have u ever had the saran wrap stick to the tar on the back with atlas? Happened once to me i was outraged
the castlbrooks are kinda generic color wise. the briarwood and pinnacle have way better colors. i have had the same problem with wrap sticking on occasion but seems its certain bundles and it could be we left them in the sun too long
A real roofer does. Not need lines or guidelines. My start for the past 8 years, Middle finger to the eaves facisa. For just the starters, then the rest is straight

all you see around here is certainteed, atlas and oc
I would leave the flashing on the chimney as well, it still looks like it is in good shape, so it shouldn't be to hard to cover it up with a new one.
Yeah it wouldn’t hurt to have more lines on the paper as reference for parallel .
Good looking roof and I would leave the flashing as well.
StormMaster Shake / Slate is Atlas top line not Pinnacle pristine.

Southern Illinois
what is the wieght per square on certainteed?
Around 240 or so
@@roofinggod1540 i think ours are a little lighter but very close to that in weight
The copper that’s added to shingles is suppose to help with stains and moss already
Wouldn't call it scared as far as chimney flashing. More like being a professional and knowing your limitations.
Chance of rain, yep we’re staying home.
Changing out my roof with atlas pinnacle.
They are a great shingle!
mine looks great

Do Atlas shingles seal good together? I saw a video about Atlas not using thicker sealant compared to other brands.
Can you tell me what the number is for the pinnacle pristine majestic shake hip n ridge? My store doesnt list one for this shingle??
I do not know to be honest. If they carry the shingles they will have matching ridge
