GX 2 rod guides melt after 6 months of bait fishing with mono. The Okuma was perfect. I’m thinking of pairing with a Penn 8000 for monster California Striper and Sturgeon and a Bass Pro Shop Cat rod and Penn 4000 series for smaller Stripers. 6-8” local baitfish are called Striper candy in the California Delta and Sacramento River. I’m as addicted to fishing as those thieves are to meth.
That’s a great price! I’ve been wanting another one of these and now my son wants one after letting him use it. It’s a beast! It was hard for me to tell if the guide inserts were glass or anodized metal and I’m not one to use a knife to scratch them to see. After a year now on 50lbs braid beating on them id say mine are glass inserts. No wear and smooth as butter still. I will probably set my next one with mono so It can stretch on setting the hook. Braid with this stiff of a rod can rip a fish lips off, lol. Sorry to here you had some dirty thieves. Good luck with your fishing!
Been out with it maybe 6 times this past fall and absolutely loved it for catfish. It’s very stiff so not the great sensitive feel of a bass rod but I felt I had great control and felt the pull and set.

Can I use a 6 and 8oz sinker on it?
I haven’t yet but I don’t see a problem if coupled with good reel with a drag that can handle that weight.

How far can you cast with this?
Lol, a long azz ways. It casts farther than any pole I have with a 7000 series spinning reel. My guess is 50 yards.
