$50 TEMU Fishing Challenge (is it a SCAM??)

- In this Fishing Challenge we order $50 of fishing gear from TEMU. Is this website actually legit? Or is this a scam? With a budget of $50 we purchase a Rod/Reel, Line, Lures, etc and some other fishing gear. Will this fishing gear work? Will we get everything we ordered? We then take our new gear out to test it in the saltwater and see if we can catch some fish!

The website is not legit, everything is cheap because they sell everything you input into the website to third parties and scammers
I have
I have bought a bunch of stuff off Temu, and for the most part it has not been too bad. Their hook sizes are always way smaller than the standard sizes we have here in the states, they are super cheap hooks for the most part, so don't expect them to hold up to big fish. You also have to really keep an eye on the sizes and quantity that they give on the web pages for pretty much any of the baits you might want. Most of them tend to run on the smaller size, and the soft plastic baits are bad for that. The stuff is what it is though and some of it does work fairly well to catch fish with. The reel that they sell have been hit or miss for me. Some have been really good and some have been pretty bad, but I have found that like anything else, the more you pay for it, the better the quality it seems to be. That being said, I have still gotten some really decent reels in the $20 to $30 range. I have been buying stuff from there since June of 2023 and I have not been scammed yet, but I have gotten some really cheaply made things. It it worth it you ask, I would say sure, as long as you understand you are not getting high end goods for a cheap price. If you expect cheap stuff, you may find that some of it is actually a little better than you expected it to be, or it might be a little worse. It all depends on what you are getting.
It is a great place to get stuff for kids, beginners and for people on a budget. Get some stuff and try it out, you might actually be surprised at what you get. :)

Little tip for you in the future, they use japanese hook sizes, you can find convertion charts.
Well from my experience hooks have been true to size. Just pay attention to the size options of the hook or size the hooks in general
I order fishing lures from temo all the time.... I recommend to stay away from the baitcasters but the spinning reels work well... And also just as a tip double-checking the sizes Before placing the order is crucial...

someone in china said usually temu is stocked with lower tier fishing gear. he said lures are about the same but way cheaper in china and ppl will use 20+ lures in a trip bc they rather have more disposable ones. on the other hand rods and reels in china of course have mid and high tier qualities. my guess is they rarely export them since the brands and marketing can’t compete internationally and they rather manufacture mid and high qualities reels for bigger brands. for their domestic market they get very high quality rods and reels for very cheap compared to big brands in the west and japan. i forget the term he used but basically they value affordable luxury or something
Brit here. About a year now relying on Temu to date ...... Works ok 90 % of the time, BUT jeez, saved a small fortune. Happy bloody days 🙂
Yeah I ordered for Temu I use it for freshwater for largemouth bass and stuff crappie bluegill trout they work the only thing is when you order something you got to wait like almost 2 weeks for it but they're not bad I caught my fish with it no problem with the reel and no problem with the rod

I bought a ton of stuff from Temu this winter and am just getting a chance to use the fishing gear now. Caught my first three carp a couple of days ago on dough bait hooks from Temu, and home made dough. I have several Temu reels and one was crap but the others seem fine. I think some of the reels have been in storage long enough that the lube is dry, so if you do some maintenance right away it is all good.

I bought a lot of fishing things from Temu. And some are very good. And rods around 8 ft long are very good. Just get the ones that looks like the eyes wrapped.
I’ve bought plenty of stuff. The air pods $5 I’m using from Temu have a better battery life than my Apple ones. Also ordered a bunch of chatter baits for cheap ! Caught a 4lb Bass the other day on one. Got a scale for $7. Also got knock off yeezys for $23 and are almost exactly like my real ones

I’ve had extremely good luck with spinning reels off of temu! Also buy my fluorocarbon leaders, braided line, and terminal tackle!
Yes braid and their flourocarbon is great i bought it from them as well. Dirt cheap compared to Sweden. For the prize of 200m braid here in swden i get 1000m braid 2x 120m flouro and still have some money left in my pocket.
I live in Sydney Australia and like all other posters agree with " watch the size of what you order.. ".. I don`t buy fish hooks .. or fish line.. or rods .. but all those other bits of terminal etc I have and have no issue with them... I do take into count the cost to match it with the item and don`t expect it to be top shelf... But I am more than happy with what I have bought.. Delivery has been spot on...
Yea got some lures not bad actually caught my PB 4 lb. Largey. Def some kinda sketchy but no problem when I bout stuff.

You should buy 3/4oz spoons in gold silver and I'm a copper color to try them out next video at your local fishing pier you should also nuy a jigging combo from temu
I’ve bought lots of stuff off Temu. I’ve been happy with it for the most part. Some of the things like swivels, are a lot smaller than they’re pictured. Some were so small I couldn’t use them.

I did a thing on Temu where I had to send things to my friends and I ended up getting a free fishing backpack, reel,net,pliers and lures. Before that I bought a bunch of different lures and a rod. And they come this week

China is a major player in the civil manufacturing industry. 'Scam' could happen, but today, people perceive 'scam' as low quality. The idea is that if you pay more, you get better quality. Even products in America are made in China. However, the same product in China and the US can cost more because American businesses choose different materials, which is why they are more expensive. If you all go to Taobao or Tmall to buy those expensive rods, they won't be any different from American rod brands.

I ordered me a little 4000 reel from temu and I ordered a baitcaster reel I tried to baitcaster yet but the 4000 real that I bought it seems to work pretty good

My whole fishing setup is from temu and it works perfectly for 20bucks
I order hard baits all the time and they’re probably my best lures but I ordered braided line and I could snap the stuff by hand I’d just stick to getting line from a tackle store
Edit: also I always get bit off when float fishing with those hooks I blame them and not the fish😂😂

Not a scam, been buying for over a year from them. $10 minimum, free shipping. Wish charges shipping on each item do if you buy 4 you pay 4 times shipping. That's why I buy from temu.
I bought what was advertised as a surf fishing rod, 10 feet. What came looked like a carp fishing rod with tiny rings. I changed them to normal rings and went to the beach. Three 10 inch cat fish and one 15 inch snapper later the rod snapped about 10 inches above the reel.
I still have the 4000 size reel, works great and cost me $13. I bought this in 2019. With the reel it has to be pampered, washed off every time, opened and cleaned every month and keep an eye on the nut that keeps the handle in place. Unscrews itself.
You have the headgear, do some night fishing!!! :)
OK as far as your comment going about salt in gear it is common knowledge for people who fish in salt water to always rinse their gear off immediately after using it and get that salt off and your gear will last forever or at least comparable to its build

I have never had a problem with it to be honest with you I bought a whole set of reels every side size I have a particular real and I had no problems everything come in all at once do they seem to work fine
I buy my braid and hooks off temu and they've been great. I wouldn't buy anything brand name off it though. That's where you get the knockoffs.

Does this reel have instant anti-reverse? I got one of those haut ton DK spinning reels off Temu cuz they looked really nice but it didn’t have instant anti-reverse and man, that’s a deal killer for me. Shame cuz the reel actually looks decent and all

Temu is basically the same as wish. I have bought fishing gear from both. including a deep sea real. So far so good. No complaints. Use common sense when buying product from these places.

I bought a rod and reel , separately, costing less than $45 . I was pleasantly surprised when I hooked a four pound Kala , a Unicorn fish , and it handled it with ease . But it's hit and miss , I also bought a reel that BROKE when I hooked a fatty . They'll give you a refund , no questions asked . I will still buy more from them 👍
