5 years of retail work and never once was I allowed holidays off, and several of these jobs would punish heavily for calling out on those days, for any reason. Minimum wage workers are treated like expendable garbage everywhere, and it's incredibly disgusting.

Well you ain't missing much man, since they've made the games refundable, Steam has cut the saving short and every year there are less and less good Black Friday deals.
I like how they don't discount the switch because a good deal on the switch is just being able to find one

As someone who works tvs at best buy, don't get the sharp tv, it's not 4k. Also sharp was bought out a few years ago, they are not the same top tier brand they used to be. They are essentially bottom dollar crap out in a year or two tvs now.

I want to add a side note here just in case you are wondering. I would say stick with lg, Samsung, or Sony. Not sure the exact sales for most stuff yet but if you are looking for a cheaper 4k option that's still good quality I would say the uj6300 from lg is one of the best options, normally around 450 for a 55" but probably will go lower (also same model available from 43" to 75") It's not full hdr but it's definitely better than some other brands that claim hdr like sharp, Hisense, element, Vizio, etc.
Jcubed a Best Buy guy once told me the 240 hz interpolation mode would give me an advantage in video games. Apparently you don’t need to know anything to be a salesman at Best Buy.

They did mention it. I'm really excited to get Wolfenstein 2 for half off because I know it's probably an amazing game (I've stayed away from most things involving it) but the $60 price is a little too much for it being a Single Player only game

I worked at target years ago and remember black friday. Was hell. People are freaking crazy. Watched two old ladies fight each other over sheets. I also shopped once on black friday and will never ever do that again.
Wait for Cyber Monday or just shop online folks. Better deals online, and you don't have to leave your house. And no putting extra stress on poor retail workers.

These aren't the deals like it was before, when black Friday was invented it was designed to clear space and make room for new inventory. Now a days walmart best buys Costco etc. They all have specific black Friday items shipped months in advance, they go to their central distribution center then shipped to the store a month or 2 before. The items being sold are not "discount" items they are bulk purchases designed to sell at that price. Still great deals but the reason black Fridays in store seem more organized is because they are.
Ehhh.. the days of people bum rushing the front doors on BF are over. I've gone the play three years, basically to get out of the house, and it's no worse than school shopping season.

Just so everyone knows Wal-Mart's black Friday sales are also available online. Any orders over $35 get free shipping to your house and free 2 day shipping to store. Also it starts at 12:01 AM EST thanksgiving compared to in store 6pm EST. Have fun

I refuse to go to a store on Thanksgiving, but I did go in around 1am Friday last year to Best Buy. For most of the stuff they seem to always carry enough stock except the really big ticket items like the super cheap tv's and such.

Keep in mind. The vast majority of 'black Friday deals', including the TV's are old models and cheaper models made specifically for black Friday. Its pretty hard to find quality in black Friday items.

black "friday" has always started on thursday in my area. idk why but walmart always opens at 6 or 7 pm on thursday and everywhere else starts at 9 or 10 so its been a thing for a while.
Prices on Tvs usually go up at Christmas. Unless it’s a Black Friday deal your usually better buying in the spring around tax time.

Look, I work in retail and I have to work Every Thanksgiving. To say 'Shame on You Retailers' I say 'well why do you come in to buy If you guys feel that way?'
Case in point: I had a customer that came up to me On Thanksgiving to tell me that she thought it was wrong for me to work on the holiday. Saying that the cooperation shouldn't take employees from their families, and Get This!
Her Shopping cart was filled to the brim with merchandise.
In Short, People. If you guys think it's a crime working on Thanksgiving then the answer is DON'T SHOP ON THANKSGIVING! Businesses will get the picture and stop running on the Holiday. Believe me, they would rather not pay for the 'time and a half pay' if no one shows up.

In-store black Friday sales has been declining over the years. Online sales have been taking over. Hopefully that trend keeps up.
FIDreams you could also still just not go. Customers will come either way but if u want to change something that affects you u have to change it yourself and not depend on the actions of others that it doesn't affect.

To be fair, at least at the Best Buy where I worked, while you were out there spending money on Thanksgiving morning instead of enjoying Thanksgiving with your families, I was earning 1.5x pay and got free thanksgiving catering and then went home to eat thanksgiving dinner with my family.

I bought a 2016 samsung 49" ku7000 4k hdr tv 500$ off so it was still 950$ canadian probably around 700-750ish us dollars in the spring and thought it was getting a pretty good deal..i should of waited

Nicolle other countries do it. UK does and I think Australia does too. It wouldn't hurt to check out your local major retailers. If not, you should look up Cyber Monday deals.
